  1. Didn't Mort say that the clause no longer existed? not sure, thats why im asking i'm 99% sure he did, although it this point i dont really think it matters, having a year left on your contract may aswell be a release clause anyway. of course there is always the likelihood he'll ask for one to be put in a new contract
  2. my bets gonna be us to win 3-1 and barton to score
  3. i wasnt sure which thread to put this in but i had to post it somewhere haha, it seems keegans message IS finally getting across to the players

    Mike Ashley :-)

He's not a Geordie, so he'd be lying if he sang all of it if he gives kev enough money in the summer i'll consider him officially initiated
  6. in his first game home game (blackburn?) i remember thinking he looked very influential, always on the side line shouting instructions etc, cant be all coincidence that his arrival came at the same time as our up turn in form imo
  7. was thinking about this last night, it'd be nice for us to show our support for him at the minute, especially with him having been dropped to the bench by capello. whatever has happened in the past, right now he's newcastles michael owen and he's proving it on the pitch. we should show him we appreciate it, after all, if he goes to a premiership rival he'll keep scoring and we'll be more than a little disapointed we didnt try to do our bit to keep him here imo
  8. come next season being proficient at playing a few different formations will be a massive boost. wouldnt surprise me if we got 4-4-2 against the better teams and 4-3-3 against the easier targets, who knows, i suppose it massively depends on which players we can get
  9. haha, what the hell is going in here?
  10. dare to say it mate, its completely true. its harpers shirt to lose AGAIN, and if its taken off him for anything other than loss of form or injury it'll be a disgrace, AGAIN
  11. beye and enrique should be starting fullbacks next season imo as others have said there are other areas of the pitch where we need to improve first
  12. just admit it lads, owen's fucking mint and we're lucky to have him
  13. jesus, there's a lad on there with a picture of roy keane in a MAN U top as his avatar, says it all about that lot like, thick cunts Brilliant to see them all involved in the celebrations. not ashamed to say i felt a pang of emotion after reading that dave, its so, so true, we actually look like a football club again absolutely delighted for everyone involved today, especially keegan, hughton, ashley, barton and oba well done lads edit - i also think its very promising and indicitave of the spirit kk has put into the squad that the last two times we've gone behind in games we've come back to get something out of it
  14. fancy tarabbt (sp?) to run rings round our 3 midfielders like

    Oba...Obafem

Spot on...which is why it's f*cking ridiculous to boo the substitution. It's not like last season where he was our only decent striker, we have two equal/better strikers, and had a very good player coming on in his place. Next time if it's Owen or Viduka who comes off, do you boo the substitution to let them know you're behind them too? Its like before the game when the team sheet is read out, does my head in the moans you hear at certain players names, I loved it as a kid at the match when every name was met with a mass of cheers, but not now its all fkn doom and gloom.. totally agree, there's nowt like a bit of positivity to get a match started on the right foot, i also didnt much like all the moans and groans when smith appeared on the sideline for his cameo substitution, we were coasting at that point and i just thought it was a bit childish and un-necessary
  16. hmm, could be good under keegan, seems like a confidence player to me, 5m seems a fair price too, we'll see
  17. 80/1 has probably got more to do with the 0 than the 3, to be fair
  18. You forgot to sign off..... haha, oh shit, so he did, what happens now? life doesnt feel right, doug, get back and sign off!
  19. What about Shearer 97/98? Like Owen, had just came back from main injuries, like Owen, was playing in a sh*t Newcastle side, and scored 2 league goals in about 18-20 games. Don't remember Shearer getting the same criticism. Good point. Shearer scored about 30 the year after. And although I don't think he'll get that many (but he never has even at his peak), I'd predict Owen to get himself 20 in a Keegan team. I agree he will almost certainly get you 20 goals a season and to guarantee that nowadays you'd need to be spending wacky Drogba or Eto type money, so he may not be such bad value after all. The option would be to take a gamble, perhaps like our neighbours have in spending £12M on Jones and Chopra, and see how many goals that would buy you.............. He isn't almost certain to get you 20 goals at all and to suggest we'd have to spend on a Drogba or Eto'o type signing to replace him is living in a dreamland. A few good games against s**** teams and typical of people on here they go way over the top. First of all I'm neither typical of people on here, we all have our own minds, nor living in a dreamland. I don't know, nor for that matter particularly care if you actually watch Michael Owen, but in my opinion he is a cut above anything else at Newcastle, and that is based more on his special ability rather than anyone else's shortcomings. If you had watched him you'd have noticed how much of a team player he is, how well he uses the ball and his uncanny knack of getting in the right place before a defender against all teams. His goal ratio at Newcastle would indicate that injury free he IS ALMOST CERTAIN to get 20 goals in a season. And by the way, don't know how many matches you attend but trust me there are no "s**** teams" in today's Premiership. totally agree (with the exception of the almost certain bit, but thats nit-picking) and for what its worth i've been talking about owen's contribution to the team as a whole, dropping deep, keeping posession, for fucking ages

    what the f....

mint, i suggest we get a huge banner that says 'fuck off the lot of you' for our last fixture of our premier league winning season
  21. Mellberg has already joined Juve. What I'd give for a player like Rob Lee. we're desperately in need of a goal scoring midfielder imo
