The US model is perfectly fine for the US, it just wouldn't work for the amount of teams in the UK. Their system gives a much greater chance for equality, that's the only thing I'd like to see recreated. Although, not in the manner they do it (draft system. Even though a draft would be mint, it'd be impossible to implement). Wasn't a dislike for the US model in general, it works due to the amount of teams, and it's all I've known for US Sports. But to try and implement it in the UK now, using Gimp's idea, would condemn the majority of professional British football teams to extinction. My main issue.

Hate to be so insulting, Gimp. But I read the title and thought it was one of James' threads. Would dread if we ever tried going to a US-style model (Which I assume is what you're aiming for with the conference? End of season 'playoffs' of some kind?)

Fuck 'em. do a Modric with the twats.

Why I'm bricking it if this goes through. Even Sturridge coming to us wouldn't make me happy. Sorts us out up front but then where's our midfield enforcer? The day after he signs we'll be hearing that Smith has been given a final chance to impress us this season.

But at the same time, no one's made a concrete offer for him. It's clear that if a suitable club came in with an offer he'd be off. So why havn't they? Him running down his contract irks me particularly more than Barton, mainly because he's moved the goalposts at least 3 times as to his reasons for not extending. But if it's the only way he'll get to leave and find the new, top club he wants, then that's what he'll do.

1 looks alright in the first shot. Looks like a fucking mugshot the 2nd though. 231.

Hernandez top scorer isn't a bad shout. Might try that meself. Consider yourself jinxed.
-
Fair point. Not like they need to rush him into it. They've got 4 years.

What I was thinking while reading that tripe. If O'Shea is going to be handed the captaincy it'll do them much better than keeping that jumped up prick in there. John O'Shea is hardly inspiring...surely they have someone more influential than that pan faced cunt? Read above. Their previous best choice was Lee fucking Cattermole.

'Journalism' like that needs to be cut the fuck out. It just makes me so fucking angry. 'Barton's disruptive, fuck it. Let's say he's unhappy at Colo getting the captaincy. What? He said he's happy with the decision? Piss off. There. Written. Print that.' Articles that are bold-faced fantasy, no matter how little effect they have, rile me to fuck. Cunts.

The fact that 90% of the line ups people are posting in any thread has N'Zogbia in it.

Only Spurs and Citeh have more games on TV than the 4 mentioned and us. We hardly plummeted. Aye. Surprised we've stayed that high tbh.
-
its roughly what he's gone for from almost everywhere else Didn't someone recently move from one Championship club to another for £5m or something pisstaking ridiculous? Or am I imagining that? If I'm not, then £1.5m is fucking peanuts for someone whom you know will produce for you as a promotion chasing team.
-
Aye, even substitute appearances included, I'm astounded it's that much.
-
Not fair. I've not seen any close ups yet.
-
Desperate for football and there's a fappable player. Fuck it, I'm in.
-
Costing Stoke £6m isn't he? Six million times the player than Ba tbh. EDIT: The report I just read said they originally bid £3m but then doubled their bid? Did they really just go straight from £3m to £6m? Sounds like something we would've done under Shepherd.
-
Berbatov was Plan A? I must've missed that. If we're just placing the players we've been ever so slightly linked with in order of who we'd prefer, I think we're down to plan Z already tbh. Fucking disgrace of a club. Nasri's clearly available this year, why havn't we gone in for him?
-
The f*** I do. I "rule out" players because they're probably not coming. Simple. You can speculate all you want, he is not the type of player we are looking for. A striker who scores goals, we don't want those types in these parts. A nippy, speedy striker is what we're reportedly looking for. We have Ba and Ben Arfa who Pardew has said will be playing number 10, those two are pretty quick. Wouldn't be opposed to a big lad who can bully. Gameiro, Erdinc, Long - there is a pattern. We're definitely not after a big lad. Because you know that we aren't after anyone else behind the scenes don't you, Colin? (Sylvain Marveaux) Boring. Fuck off.

He's clearly going to be injured for at least half the season now.

Surely the might be true rumours are in the ever so slightly more reputable original transfer news thread? There's a reason the Twitter rumours got their own thread, like.
-
Unless he's planning to stay with us past this year, then why would he sign a contract? No one's jumping head first to sign him at a 'discount' with a year left. Why would they wait for him to sign a new contract just to pay more? If all he wants is CL football he's better off leaving his contract to run and he'd obviously have numerous suitors on a free. Not that I wouldn't love for him to sign a new contract, like.

Are you saying he's not?
