If someone paid you a million quid a year to have a cock tattooed on your forehead you'd probably take it. People would laugh at you and take the piss, but they'd soon shut up when you told them how much you were getting for it. If someone asked you to have a cock tattooed on your forehead for nowt, they just told you you were advertising the fact you were willing to have something like a cock tattooed on your forehead, and trust them they'd be working hard to get someone to pay you to change it to a pair of tits, what would you do? People would laugh at you and take the piss, you might even lose your job and be worse off financially for it, and when you told people you were doing it for nothing they'd laugh even harder and tell you how apt it was. The advertising round the pitch is option 1, all this Sports Direct advertising is option 2. It is in no way beneficial to the club, and if anything it will drive away other potential sponsors who wouldn't want to be associated with it. Like I've already said, I'm in your camp, I agree it's pointless, detrimental, tacky, all that. But the way people are going on like our last shreds of dignity have been ripped out of us is just ridiculous.
  2. Why, what are you doing then? After reading multiple times, I think I've finally worked out what the hell that meant. I'm guessing he means 5pm tomorrow.. So of course he'll feel different, he won't be waiting anymore...

Okay don't get me wrong, I'm not impressed by this, but this thread has reached suicidal proportions the last 2 pages! It looks cheap and tacky, but ripping the soul of the stadium and club? Someone on the previous page states that advertising round the pitch and stadium is okay, that's only because you're used to it! I'm sure people were also wondering what the fuck when they originally went up. But look at the club, it's still here, and amazingly, it's still got it's history. Jesus christ

Really? You really think Ashley's paying to stick that up there? I'm with the others now, that's not changing to a paying sponsor anytime soon.

So... You're on the fence about this?

There are slightly cheaper ways of doing that. What an amazing business plan if true though.
  7. Holy crap...I wonder who has the actual jurisdication here. How can an England court over turn an US court and vice versa? That's what I'm wondering. Don't get how it can all come to this...
  8. Not exactly, but no home win in 3 (when the three were Blackpool, Stoke, Wigan) would be a very worrying statistic. So would another new manager. Stability is one of the only things on our side right now.

I'll hold my hands up now, Dave. I've sat here and laughed at how angry you've got at events in this thread. I'm officially on your side with the roof debacle.

actually painted? God. I've bought some fantastic aerial pictures of SJP over the years, such a shame there's gonna be none for a while now. And if it's still there next season, aerial shots used on TV on football shows are gonna have it in. Ugh.

I really don't know why, but I didn't care about it around the outside of SJP, now it's on the roof I really don't like the idea. Even though it's less seen. Maybe it's just because amazing aerial pictures of SJP and the surrounding area would now be completely butchered by such a ridiculously pointless thing.

True. Something needs to be done Ian, and we need to live with the rocky moments the rule changes bring. 'Cause right now, the game is going further down the pan and things like diving and leg breakers need to be eliminated. Overall, I'm still personally in favour of a video review panel.

I think we're at the point where we need a weekly video review panel to punish dangerous play and divers retrospectively. What about straight red cards for diving? The other team won't benefit at all from Ashley Young getting a one match ban and a telling off. I know, I know - it still relies on referees getting it right but if a player knows any attempt to con the ref puts himself in jeopardy of getting sent off, I don't think he'd attempt it in the first place. But too many don't get caught to make that worth it IMO. Weekly video review panel if anything for me. Although madras I think it was made a good point a couple of days ago, that if we brought in a weekly panel, are we not going to have problems with clubs wanting more justice than just bans and fines when a retrospective decision would have majorly changed the direction of the match? Especially if it could have changed their league position come the end of the season and such? Just so many different things to cover, I think that's one of the biggest reasons why this technology is being dismissed right now, purely because they're nowhere near finished debating all possibilities in FIFA themselves.

    La Liga - 10/11

What would happen if Barca were ever to suffer relegation and Barca B were in the Segunda already, VI? Seeing as they're not allowed in the same league.

the mugs are 69p and fookin' massive like. good excuse for longer tea breaks at work i suppose 69p, fuck that! Buy what you want online and get it for free. Although I chucked mine in the bin with the rest of the packaging (Which was one of the most ridiculously over-sized boxes I've ever had a pair of trainers ever delivered in!!).

Common sense in the last 3 posts. There's a difference between a fantastic sliding tackle and breaking someone's legs. You don't lose the first by cracking down on the latter. You just need players to be coached how to tackle properly, and reprimand the cunts that do it on purpose like De Jong. Same with diving, reprimand them so there's actually a reason for them to stop. Baba's had it right in the past that you're at a disadvantage if you don't dive these days. But that doesn't make it right. It still needs to be kicked out of the game.
  18. Unreal. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Liverpool fail, but Hicks and Gillett are doing my fucking head in now. Jailed? Seriously? No wonder there's such massive preconceptions about America when these are the Yanks grabbing the headlines in other countries.
  19. I didn't think these rumours of Rooney being off from Old Trafford had anything in them, but this contradiction proves something really isn't right there.
  20. Tom Hicks is a gentleman and a scholar.
  21. But don't we basically say that every 2 years? England (generally) plough through everyone in qualifying, and get hyped to the hilt, before the crashing realisation that we aren't really going to do that well. Yes, I'd consider a lot of it mental, and no, I've got no idea of a solution apart from hope a manager can finally get this complacency out of them (which is what I think the mental issue is). I've just kind of got bored of the same routine.
  22. Arsenal, Blackpool, Everton. Have to respect the way Arsene has his teams play. Have to respect what Blackpool have done and what they appear to be continuing to do. And Moyes is a fantastic manager. Fulham would have probably been in there if Hodgson was still there.
  23. Genuine question HTT, what is it about these clubs that make you think differently? 'Cause I'd say they're basically in the same boat in what they've done. Surprised you say good luck and that Bolton have done well, but Fulham don't get that praise when since coming back up, they've probably done considerably more than Bolton.
