I've had Almiron in my FPL team for about a week now. Does this mean I should transfer or keep?
-
Going to stop it here. "Bollocks", "rubbish", suggesting I mean we should give random people off the street a shot and giving fucking Darlow a chance up top Good night.
-
Was played out of position (he got 47 minutes over 3 games in his natural position), 2 years younger than Anderson is now.
-
Maybe, maybe not. We'll never know.
-
Considering he managed to carve his way back to the PL from League 1, maybe the coaches/manager were wrong and should have given him a chance?
-
Chopra got a decent amount of chances at least. Was deemed not good enough and was moved on. Armstrong never got a decent chance so who knows how good he could have been.
-
If Darlow was 19 years old, had played 3 minutes for us in a competitive PL game previously, but had done well against high tier opponents in pre-season and gotten glowing compliments from the manager, following a solid spell on loan the previous season then the only way to find out if he would make a decent goalkeeper at this level would be to test him out in competitive games.
-
Only one way to find out, which is playing him.

I'll admit my reasons are biased in that I really really want this club to be one that has the balls to take risks by giving our own youth players a good amount of time on the pitch, even if it (at least in the short term) means we may not field the absolute strongest team available. Would much more prefer it like that over the current top teams in the league who prefers to buy older established players while having a bunch of forever-loanees never being able to settle anywhere.
-
There's quite a gap between the fourth tier in England and Mainz, Benfica and Atalanta too, and he handled those games as good as anyone else.
-
Just play him together with Joelinton and Bruno ahead of Shelvey, Longstaff and Willock. He'll do great.
-
He played more games as a striker than a winger last season.
-
He's been excellent for Lille the last couple of seasons. Thought he was supposed to go to AC Milan together with Botman though?
-
Guess it's reasonable to expect him to improve this season, but I wouldn't count on Gordon providing season saving numbers considering he only managed 4 goals in 40 games last season.
-
Using Brunos alleged need for instant success (which he himself has disputed) as an argument for paying more than the club is prepared to do for players is one of the most boring arguments I read on here.
-
I've heard people saying that, and granted I only saw about 5 matches they played last season but every game I saw he looked like a do nothing central midfielder in the Jack Colback/Jeff Hendrick/Tom Davies mould.
-
Wait...the Leicester regen is actually rated by their own fans? He's looked like Jack Colback 2.0 every time I've seen him play. Turns 24 in a month, yet too early to give him responsibility? Must be their Shola.

Petty forum grievances (getting compared to RTG ffs ) and ancient politics aside, really looking forward to seeing them back in the PL. Always had a soft spot for them, probably out of nostalgia having started following English football in early/mid 90's. Will be hoping they win every match bar the two against us.

Was really only adressing those that has said they prefer Maddison over Paqueta and cited PL experience as one of the main reasons. Whether we can/could/can't get him wasn't really the point of my post at all. Fully appreciate the club can see Maddison as a viable option as he's clearly a very good player.
-
Don't understand people who'd prefer Maddison ahead of Paqueta due to PL experience at all. Paqueta is bigger, stronger and has a higher work rate, all traits that are particularly important in this league so I see him as less of risk than Maddison. Paqueta is younger and also seems like a nice person which is always a positive compared to the turbo cunt Maddison appears to be, so he'd better score some absolute screamers for us, quickly, to win me over if we get him.

There's always a risk that youth talents don't develop into good players, but I'd rather find out now than later if he has what it takes. If he does, we've got a home grown talent that can continue to grow with the club. If he doesn't then it should be fairly easy to move him on next summer. Assuming he will be played in the midfield 3 like he has this pre-season, we do have other players to that are ahead of him in Joelinton, Bruno, Shelvey, Willock & Longstaff. He'd be an excellent option to have on the bench and start in cup games or cover for squad rotations/injuries. Bonus that he is able to play as a winger as well, although I'm not sure he has the pace to be really effective in that postion in the PL, similarly to Maddison.

Not watched much L1, but that can't be true?

How have Man City and Liverpool introduced their youngsters to the first team? The only current players I can think of is TAA, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot & Phil Foden. TAA had already played 12 first team appearances and been an unused sub on Liverpools bench 16 times at the point where Anderson is now. The following season (the equivalent season Anderson is about to start now) he played in 33 matches and was unused sub in 18. Never been loaned out. The equivalent season Elliot is about to start now, Jones had already played in 10 first team matches, and went on to feature in 34 first team games. Has never been loaned out. Harvey Elliot is 1 year younger than Anderson, and was loaned out to Blackburn two seasons ago, made 11 first team appearances for Liverpool last season and looks like he will be more involved this season. Foden at the point where Anderson is now had already featured in 10 and 26 matches respectively in the two previous seasons. The following season (the equivalent season Anderson is about to start now) he played in 38 games. I don't see the problem in giving Anderson a chance to feature fairly regularly in the first team based on his loan spell last season and pre-season performances now. I don't see, especially with the support team around him, how that is putting too much pressure on him.

Got to keep in mind they were just taken over a year earlier too with lots of highly rated talents coming in two windows prior to ADUG coming in, and it took 4 seasons for them to break into the top 4.
