Beautiful goal by Shaw and Rashford

Chronicle site crashed my work laptop twice. Mind copy/paste on here?

Pay as you play deals were very common in Germany about two decades ago, but even then players had a basic wage for their own security. That's about as far as my knowledge of it goes Most contracts today by its very definition are pay as you play with bonuses for appearance, clean sheets, assists, goals, cup achievements, league position etc. I would be surprised if there was even one contract in the premier league that was base wage only without any other stipulations. Only thing is that the basic wage is usually so high these days that people don't think of it as a pay as you play contract.

Took a 12 point hit this week, amongst others Higuain for Aguero. Now he is ill and most likely won't play. ffs

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
Conjo replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
It's a different game when we're behind though, where quite a lot of teams are happy to sit back and give us the initiative unlike at 0-0. -
Ritchie clearly has some sort of a personal hatred for him now. A few times Miggy just threw his arms up in the air, asking WTF? I actually think that he resents him because he has all the quality that he doesn’t have and wishes he does have. How many on here are thinking about that reserve player from Goal when making these accusations? @1:19

Imagine their despair when they are finished watching the match only to find out Sunderland drew away at Wycombe just to top it all off

But I’m told by the media Eddie Howe is doing a miracle in the Premier League with a League 2 squad/spend though? How is Pochettino competing with a lineup that cost £270m-£300million? Another absolute “miracle” You seem like such a well balanced and reflected person in your posts, yet as soon as you get to the subject of Howe and to a degree Pochettino your posts descend into a potpourri of emojis and cheap twitter argument style comments. Why? Because that media darling Pochettino has gone 6 years without winning a trophy with a starting eleven that cost £270m-£300million How can a manager go 6 years without winning a trophy with a lineup that cost near £300million yet still get talked about as if he is some “MIRACLE WORKER” You seem like such a well balanced and reflected person in your posts, yet as soon as you get to the subject of Howe and to a degree Pochettino your posts descend into a potpourri of emojis and cheap twitter argument style comments. Why?

Why the hell does these things never happen to the players that we're not that fussed about?
-
It really is like that though innit? It is. There's been very few extremely bright lights during the last 10 dark years for me (if we go beyond a couple of results and a handful of decent players who has used us a stepping stone to keep me going): 1. Carroll - Sold at the first and best opportunity 2. Ben Arfa - Got his leg snapped in half and neglected by a turd manager after Houghton was replaced. 3. Now it's Longstaff. Wait for a new manager to come in and never use him properly ever again. 4. Rafa Benitez - Just waiting for the inevitable this summer
-
Of course. We can't have nice things.

Lost via set pieces yet it was the “formations fault” “Should have played 4-4-1-1” even though we played that formation at home against them and got absolutely slaughtered in play 0 v 3 via IN PLAY GOALS Yesterday they couldn’t score any in play goals and we had our most amount of shots in an away game all season Only Man City and Chelsea had more attempts at goal than us this weekend. We just had a massive off day with our shooting 17 shots and no goals that was the issue. I didn’t say it was the formation’s fault did I? Try re-reading things... Implying we should have played a different formation kind of leads to thinking you thought it was the wrong formation.....

Never heard about Kenny Lala but looking on highlights of him from this season he looks tailor made for our current system offensively at least.

Schar > Newcastle squad 11/12
-
It's a bit early to claim that he's a "wunder kid". The more people build him up now the further the fall is if he doesn't get to the level so many people are hoping/anticipating. It looks like he will be a solid addition to our squad potentially for years to come, but whether it's as a key player, squad player or back-up player depends on how he improves and how consistent he is going forward. For all we know this could just be a purple patch. It's been 7 games. Be excited and enjoy the ride but I hope people don't put unnecessary pressure on him.
-
Same. I'd still have him at LB over Dummett.
-
Were people actually trying to spin it like they'd rather be there than in the Prem? Without attempting to dig out any examples I remember a lot of people saying they preferred to be winning in the championship under Rafa compared to fighting against relegation every season like Sunderland was yes.
-
Our current form (last 5 games) puts us 4th in the prem. Grim... Let's just ignore all the agony we've had this season just because a few results have gone our way lately. We are still owned by Ashley and run by Charnley.
-
Finally a good week, with 10 players only taking to the field in my team I managed 78 points mostly thanks to Trent and Robertson.
-
I get their point. Sure lots of people on here said similar to them in our last championship season.

20-30 years ago they were producing a decent level of talent, ok a lot of them didn’t play in the Scottish leagues, but they did nationally. Rangers and Celtic were also at a decent level in European competitions. They arn’t producing the talent anymore and both Celtic and Rangers are also-rans in European competitions. The quality has certainly gone down. I get that it’s a country the size of Yorkshire, but from where they used to be to where they are now is a sad decline. Back then Rangers and Celtic had some pull and was able to get hold of and pay decent players. Gazza, Laudrup, Sutton, Butcher, Larsson, Lambert, Negri. Moneyball left them behind when an ok sponsor and high attendance wasn't enough to compete anymore.
