Feel kind of sad for Messi now. He wants a goal soooooo bad Had a hard time today, getting man marked by one player through 80 mins who followed him wherever he went within a two metres radius. A few mins after the first Argie goal, they drop the man marking on him, and he hits the post, three minutes after that again he gets to another great chance where the rebound is converted by Palermo. He may have had a shit game today, but so would anyone if they had a nearly two metre tall and quick brute chasing them a whole game.

I kind of enjoy watching Greece in this match. They are so compact and diciplined you just have to admire them. They are toying with Messi who is so frustrated now he is completely out of the game, gives up the second he loses the ball and complains to the ref rather then get stuck in a bit, even if they get him in a legal manner. Not a good match, but I find it interesting and exciting because of what is at stake. If Greece goes thorugh to the next round, I fucking hope they win the whole tournament

He was handed the captaincy this season and apparently it was his most productive season (7 goals and 17 assists). Still don't know where he'd start though. If wikipedia is anything to go by, hes played 44 games this season, with 25 assists and 11 goals. Words can not explain how envious I am. Remember when we were linked with him after the euros. I wanted him to come here sooooooo bad, and it doesn't seem like he has gone backwards since. At 23, he is still very young.

When a club buys a foreign player, they should do their outmost to settle the player into the new environment, and that means helping the players family as well. I dread to think of how many foreign based players have failed in England due to not settling in well. Help them getting a place to stay, enlist kids to schools, get the players and wife on an english course ASAP and implement a sponsors program so other players have to help the new ones. Some clubs probably do that, but many don't. I don't think Newcastle has ever been any good at this, and it really is silly and naive. The players may be old enough to expect them to handle it them selves, but we all know how players can be, and it is a cheap way to protect the clubs investment in the player.

Koren isn't good enough. Decent with the ball, but too weak, slow, backs out of tackles, poor in the air etc.

No offence to Stifler but.... sorry I can't finish that without offending him. As said, the statement is just f***ing stupid. It's obvious it will be taken negatively so why even bother releasing it. There is no way you can dress this up to look good. I somewhat agree. The statement doesn't really say anything other then that they support Chris, and takes a swipe at the media. There is, however, nowhere in that statement that says there won't be any money for transfers this summer, and rightly so. That seems to be the issue with most here, as they were looking for "will be spending money on players" and " £XXm will be made available to Chris in the summer". That isn't very clever to do though, is it? Other then appeasing the fans for a few weeks. Why mention it at all, the way they have worded is either very badly or something they shouldn't be confirming if they want happy fans buying season tickets. Well yeah, that's why I agree with you that the statement is stupid. People are bound to overreact, due to drawing their own conclutions, or just not understanding what the statement actually says. No-one can really understand what it says because they have left it open to interpretation, now given what Ashley has done since we got here people are obviously going to suspect worst case scenario.
