  1. LOL, I was just reading the first page or so of this thread. OMG some people must be a little embarassed right now. We older supporters tried to tell you young pups that the signs were all there but you weren't prepared to listen. One guy, "the prophet" what an ironic name, even deleted his post, in fear of embarrasment obviously, I quoted him on first page though, lol

increasing that stat by 50% in less than 20% of the season, probably won't be enough to keep us up.
  4. It's not too late to take a gamble and retain our prem status. Going down without rolling the dice would be a crime, but sadly this is in keeping with the ownership's record.

    Last 8 games...

At this stage of the season, you really want to be playing teams with nothing to play for. Unfortunately the bulk of the games left are against teams with plenty to play for. Fulham, perhaps Spurs, and possibly Villa, may represent our best chances, although the key games are those against our fellow strugglers, if we lose any of those or fail to take at least 9pts from them, it's curtains.
  6. Too presumtious a suggestion to debate tbh. Assuming we relegated is much more realistic. JFK will be manager next season, whether we are in the PL or champ, you may not like it but you just have to get used to it.
  7. MArtins you fucking idiot, pathetic crap penalty trhat could cost us our PL status. Fucking waste of space.
  8. To think when Liverpool and ourselves were rivals. They sacked the man that was failing them and replaced him with Rafa while we put off the decision to retire the man who had clearly shown that his time was over and ended up with Souness. What a pivotal moment that was in both our clubs history. Liverpool took the right action that lead to being crowned European Champions while we begun our plunge towards the championship.
  9. What evidence has he shown that he will ? He's already offered Kinnear a 3 year contract, his MD has already stipulated many times that JK is their man. If JK saves us from relegation, why would Ashley suddenly change his stance. Next year will bring more of the same, with a few less "stars", the future is not that bright whether we avoid disaster or not this season.

To think next season, if we are drawn at home in the cups to the likes of Hull, Stoke, Wolves or Cardiff, we could be pulling of a major cup upset if we won !!
  11. I went for WBA, Stoke and us For some reason, I have the feeling boro will do something to get themselves out of the mess. One team down there usually pulls a rabbit out of the hat and escapes, I have a feeling that, that will be Boro this season. As for us, we'll drop into bottom 3 after the next 2 games, and can't see us pulling ourselves out of it.
  12. I'm going with a 1-1 socreline, and I think I'm being optimistic there, we'll hear crap from Hughton about the importance of not getting beat, but the reality of it is, it won't be enough.

I've changed my vote from a 7 to a 10, can't really see a way in hell we'll get out of this mess atm.
  14. Setanta show Championship games, not as manay as prem ones but at leaset some. The Score and sportsnet don't show anything from the lower leagues I believe. I'll probably hang onto my Setanta sub, I was contemplating giving it up, but the liklihood is we'll be on frequently at least next season. Lets hope we go straight back up though.
  15. S. Taylor upset Ronadlo, R. Taylor shocking chested back pass. I was wondering where all the "Steven Taylor is a pile of crap" threads were. I haven't seen the game, and the beeb reported that it was Steven Taylor that made the error.

You're right, but it does suggest that we have the ability to actually play well. Hopefully we can do it another few times before the end of the season. Its that ability/ application balance, that last night exposed, which is why i think we are Bummed if they dont turn up against Hull. Which is something that we have an annoying history of doing. We don't show up for the winnable games.

Fail to beat Hull for me and we are as good as down, it's that huge of a game as far as I can see.
  18. Not that I'm supporting Hughton or the board in the slightest, because I think the former is inept and the latter are numpties. But put yourself in the board's shoes, you can't effectively sack a manager who's just had a heart bypass and is in recovery, who you've backed and offered a long term contract to. Both legally and from a PR prespective, it's fraught with dangers. So there really is no chance that they'll make a permenant appointment, their only hope is another interim appointment but considering they were scraping the bottom of the barrell when they appointed JFK in the first place, the iterim candidates don't offer much of an upgrade to Hughton and will no doubt come at a heavy cost financially, as the board have proved that they barely look beyond the short term financially, I can't see them making a move. We are stuck with Hughton, I think until JFK gets back, and even when he does, has he really got it in him to keep us up. I doubt it very much. What a ludicrous situation to be in.
  19. No the real point is, what Llambias actually said, there are numerous other threads to debate on NUSC's agenda/role/tactics whatever. Why has the focus on this thread been on the stupid spin they put on but not the actual words that Llambias said ? To be frank I don't give a rats arse what NUSC said at the meetin, or said about the meeting, I'm interested in what came out of Llambias's mouth and it would appear that there were some interesting things that were said, as someone else said, lets hear more about what he said about certain players and less crap about how NUSC are killing our football club.
  20. Jesus christ how to degenerate a thread into pointless bickering. To the O/P unfortunately you gave the anti NUSC folks, which they appear to be many and they are pretty vocal to say the least, lots of ammunition there posting the article in it's entirity. Perhaps leaving off the last bit which is just NUSC talking itself up, would have been more sensible. The TF article is a much better read. Having said that, I honestly wonder if it is an impossible task for anyone to set up a supporters group, or a group that claims to represent some of our fans. The two recent examples of these group, Toon Ultras and NUSC, have received so much venom directed towards them that it seems a thankless and pretty pointless task to try a set up a group that purports to represent the varied opinions of fans of this football club. If people could stop attacking the writers of the article and begin debating the various telling quotes from Llambias, then there may be some hope for this thread. However I think it's already too late and this thread is on it's way down the familiar path of childish, missing the real point bickering.
  21. Stoke's run in is very comfortable, they have a lot of winnable games, at home they are pretty damn good, away they have been awful. They have two of the easier trips to make in the prem, so there's a real chance that they can improve that terrible away record of theirs. Our next few homes games are awful, but we have 3 very winnable games towards the end of the season at home. Away I can only see us picking up a point or 2 more at best. We are not too good at winning "winnable games", so I'm going to 6 more points total for the season. I doubt 34 pts will be enough to stay up. I still think we are screwed, unless things change drastically but on and off the field. Those reductions in season ticket prices may not seem a good deal after all.

    Souness

I'm at a loss for words, I can't believe a NUFC fan could have suggested that.

    Aston Villa

I'm not too fond of Villa, never have been and never will be. However you've just got to admire what they have done over the last couple of seasons. They certainly lucked out with their owner and how they got Martin O'Neill to join them when they were in the position they were is still something I find hard to believable. They've spent extremely well and have assembled an excellent squad in a short space of time. I'll be extremely surprised if they don't now make the Champions League. Good luck to them.
  24. Without a shadow of doubt, JK will be here at the start of next season. Is that the right decision, erm hell no, but can't see them suddenly coming to the sense and ditching him.
