I'd love to be in the UEFA Cup again. Sadly, the Champs League obsession and UEFA destroyed the second tier of European competition. The Europa League is just an embarrassment and distraction. Not worth the bother IMO.

In principle, too f*cking right. How is it right that Sky can use cheap foreign labour to serve the customer, yet the customer cannot use cheap foreign TV. It should be global markets for all, not just the business side. Sky want their cake and eat it. Sadly, I can see this backfiring, with Sky buying out numerous foreign TV rights to clamp down and then passing the cost on to the customer.

Ashley's intentions are clearly short-term - to recoup every pound he's ploughed into the club and bail out. He obviously views selling assets and operating on a shoestring as the most viable means of achieving this, and not squad strengthening and aiming for Europe/trophy. And with Hughton gone and his puppet Pardew at the helm, he's got a manager he can walk all over to do this. The best we can hope for IMO is making a good profit on the like of Tiote, Enrique etc, survival in the Prem and Ashley finally getting the money he wants to sell up.

Carroll was becoming a player for whom I could feel pride and optimism. Even in defeat, it was a pleasure to have him score. No other player than Shearer gave me that feeling. If we still had Fat Fred, this would never have happened IMO. Ashley doesn’t give a f*ck this club’s fans and it’s traditions. All that matters to him is that he recoups every penny he’s put in before selling, and is willing to undermine the manager and the players to achieve this. I thought that was supposed to be abolished? It's a shame. The old days of Champs League, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup were great. Now it's Champs League or nothing. The Europa League is largely worthless IMO, with even the domestic cups heavily devalued thanks to 2nd, 3rd and 4th getting Champs League (many clubs and fans would choose fourth place over League/FA Cup win)

The Europa League is a complete turd. Certainly wouldn't want the distraction of that piece of sh*t tournament in the unlikely even we qualify.
