  1. Can we have that in English for those of us who aren't accountants?

    Peter Beardsley

Bobby Moncur is apparently a better judge of potential than Bill McGarry & Dave Sexton
  3. Utter drivel. Yeah, he will "save" a huge amount in player wages, but at the same time the income from sponsorship & TV rights will drop by a greater amount so he'd lose even more money. It's like saving on your heating bills by setting fire to your house. As to the lower league player who will be in Kinnear's plans for next season, so what? We've been linked with a few young players from lower divisions, it doesn't mean anything other than someone thinks they'd fit into our team. As to Kinnear lying through his teeth, I've no doubt the guy talks utter bullshit 99% of the time, if he told me it was sunny outside I'd be tempted to grab an umbrella just in case. Why this is suddenly part of some devious cockney conspiracy is beyond me.
  4. I'd have a cardboard cut-out of Wise as a manager over Kinnear now.
  5. idiotic at best. if he crashes and burns then we crash and burn with him. No we dont we start -12 points. Are you drunk, a mackem or just insane?
  6. I'm pretty sure they don't do it on purpose. It's called being drunk and not being able to control yourself and be aware of the consequences. I can think of a couple who might do it on purpose. Regardless of that, why have their managers or agents not sat them down & told them that as a professional footballer, especially in the Premiership, they should probably not go anywhere near any public pubs or nightclubs? Private events are fine since they're more strictly controlled but some random nightclub in Manchester, London, Liverpool or down the Quayside is always going to get it's fair share of drunks up for a fight with a celebrity.
  7. Why do some players let themselves in for it though? Surely they know they're going to get a load of stick from any fans of other teams (& their own fans if they've been shit).
  8. He's not been involved in the day-to-day running of it, other than writing cheques. He employed Mort and then Llambias to run it for him. It's possible that he's now realising that Llambias has made a complete fuck up of the job & wants to see what's going on more closely.

    ITV

There was a decent sized internet petition complaining about how shit ITV were when they had the Premiership highlights. Think it got over 100,000 names on it by the end. The FA momentarily looked up from over their huge pile of cash, laughed and then went back to throwing handfuls of £50's around their offices, briefly interrupted by them lighting their cigars with £10's. They don't give a shit who has the broadcast rights for the games, as long as the money keeps coming in.
  10. Doesn't even take training and not in an aloof MON kind of way, but just a sad loping sit in office drink tea kind of way. Is there any reason I should believe this? is there any reason not to? have you seen us play? Seeing us play I'd be more inclined to believe JFK does take training. I guarantee he doesn't. Calderwood was brought in cause Houghton was doing it practically single handed. Manager & Assistant both taking a hands-off approach in training? No wonder the team have no fucking idea what to do on the pitch
  11. That's a bit like saying pity the people who paid for three years season tickets didn't read the fine print. I'm getting tired of hearing this line of reasoning. Why, did the fine print on the tickets say all this shite might happen? Weirdly I think there is, or there used to be, a disclaimer on all season tickets that basically states even if we're shit, you paid your money, you're not getting it back, or like buying shares Past performance is no indicator of future success There was a court case, can't remember who it involved might have been Forest, where a season ticket holder sued the club for the price of his season ticket because they were playing so poorly.
  12. Good to hear a range of opinions, nice to see that they gave everyone equal time & no one was shouted down for their thoughts, even when they were drunken ramblings. The t-shirt idea isn't bad, I'd buy one with this on: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/6143/roflbot0rqftx3.jpg http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/roflbot0rqftx3.jpg/1/w220.png
  13. They gatecrashed the supporter's panel & they wonder why no one wants to speak to them?
  14. Sounds very plausible to me, at least I believe that Given thought JFK is/was a fuckwit, that was pretty obvious from Given's reaction to the Liverpool game. With JFK having no understanding of tactics, it should fall to Houghton to fill in the gaps in the game plan, but Houghton's all over the place tactically too. JFK + clever assistant might work, or at least paper over the more obvious cracks, but JFK + Houghton doesn't work at all.
  15. Back before we appointed Roeder permanently I was of the same opinion that Bruce simply wasn't good enough, was living off his former-man-utd-player status and his habit of walking out on clubs was a bit off-putting. But since then he's managed to get his teams playing decent football at times, they defend extremely well when necessary and he's done pretty well in the transfer market with a few cheaper players who have immediately looked at home in the Premiership. Apparently, when Ferguson was talking in the dressing room Bruce was listening and taking notes for the future, unlike some other high profile examples. I'd have him here in a heartbeat, plus I think he sees the Newcastle job as "the one that got away" so there's a damned good chance he'd want to come here too.
  16. They didn't work for various reasons. Dalglish had Shearer's injury to deal with in his first full season, but despite doing OK in the FA cup he produced some dreary safety-first style football at times that no one wanted to see. Gullit was a crap manager who could only deal with players as good as he was, he couldn't understand when players didn't know what to do & needed his guidance. When you're managing players like Zola you can get away with it, when you're David Beharall's manager it fails. Worse, after the Gullit disaster the then board were shit scared of appointing another foreign manager, limiting ourselves to British managers who, bar Robson, shouldn't be managing a pub team let alone a Premiership team. Robson did pretty well, once he got rid of Mick Wadsworth. I'd rather forget Souness ever existed. A manager in the same style as Gullit but without the charisma. Total reliance on players knowing what they're doing rather than develop anything resembling tactics or instructions. Brought in his inept mates as coaches, told 3 of our better players that they'd never play for the club again, spent millions on rubbish. Makes Kinnear look competent. Roeder, did great when he had Shearer with him to act as his 2nd in command, but had little support from the players when he took the job on full time. A nice guy, but too weak. Fat Sam came in to show us all these new and amazing training techniques & apparently understood tactics. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the players he had here were totally wrong for his tactics and the players he brought in, bar Beye & Enrique, pretty poor. He played football so negative that he made Dalglish's tactics look exciting. If we'd have been winning games too it wouldn't have mattered, but to play shit football & still lose is unforgivable. For various reasons the proven managers have been garbage & brought in as knee-jerk reactions to deal with some perceived fault from the previous manager's era - players aren''t listening to the manager? bring in that hard nut Souness to sort them, training techniques stuck in the 1800's? bring in Fat Sam & his team, etc. Appointing a proven manager isn't necessarily wrong, but like buying a Chelsea or Man Utd reject you have to ask why aren't they wanted by others?. Get the right manager in, proven or unproven, put the right people around them & give them time to succeed.
  17. I'd thought previously that Whelan would rather eat shit than do business with Ashley, but the Insomnia deal still went ahead so perhaps he would.
  18. I can remember seeing Ameobi take a shot, that's not something I can accuse Smith of
  19. He hasn't looked too bad when I've seen him play, could do with a few games along side a steady striking partner though. There have been a couple of rumours that he's either been injured & no one has thought to mention it or that there's an additional fee to pay should he play a certain number of games. Or, it could just be that his English is crap & JFK has no idea how to communicate with a foreign player other than shouting louder.

    Come May....

Get rid of Wise, he's too much of a divisive figure to keep him on. Replace Wise with Kinnear, thanks for the hard work in keeping us up but he's not good enough to be our long-term manager. Hire a manager/1st team coach who has a clue. Offload the garbage like Smith & Duff

    Bent or Martins?

Would love to see Bent here, but never at the expense of losing Martins
