    That's what I suspect too.
  3. He's made a big contribution, but you just don't hand out a 5 years on 55K to a player who is almost 29 and likely to be benched from the first year. In fact, it's barely worth an arguement.
  4. And Capello. It's been 15 years since a manager escaped from that position with an ounce of credibility.

As things stand i'd still be starting him, even if we get Ba.

I think any striker who's started his PL career with 6 goals in 10 starts - and could easily have had another 2 - deserves a bit of credit, and under Dave's poignant filing system, probably falls under 'promising'.
  7. Top players generally impact games, athleticism or not.
  8. Why Simpson? Hopefully he'll turn out to be a fantastic player. Aye. The last thing i'd want is a Simpson replica on the other side of the central pairing.

    Alan Pardew

My dad had that lot on the radio on the way to the WBA game. I heard Macdrunkard have a right go at Sammy Ameobi for 'smiling like a cheshire cat despite not being picked for the squad.' 'That's what's wrong with the modern game' - apparently.

Aye. I knew such a video was out there but I couldn't find it on YT. Never thought to check DM. Incredible acceleration and close control, man. Absolutely incredible.

Eh? How on earth was that remotely cuntish?

Wow. Never seen that one before.
  13. Yeah I've looked at KUMB & they think it's a fantastic signing from them, which I agree with tbh This season it is just about the best signing they'll make considering his ability to score goals in that division, plus FSA long ball bypass midfield tactics. Next season back in the prem however... Aye. I'll drink my own p*ss if they get back up and then Nolan scores 8 goals for them. Think you better clarify that statement. If he gets 8 next season and they get promoted, someone - probably me - will nail you to it.
  14. Barton has more than twice the amount of assists this season than Guthrie has in his entire PL career (roughly 65 games, btw). There's no comparison between the two. Barton's a PL playmaker, Guthrie's a PL nothing.
  15. 65 games is closer to the mark. We're a PL team now, Guthrie should be judged by those standards. Routledge's stats are poor too, but at least he can impact games and push the opposition back a bit. If we'd had Routledge to bring on against Sunderland, Spurs and WBA, we'd have another 6 points in the bag. Guthrie doesn't offer that option. He'll simply jog around for a bit, play some basic passes and occasionally hide when the going gets tough.
  16. He's scored once from open play (the other was a penalty) in about 65 PL games.
  17. Routledge with his pace has something to offer off the bench. Those two offer f*** all. They sometimes perform 'Ok, with some nice touches'.
  18. And be left with Ryan Taylor and Dany Guthrie to come in? No thanks.
  19. Unless they're going to buy Andy Carroll next, £4m is more than he's worth.
  20. Because on his day, he's invaluable. As rare as those days are. He's worth keeping for the goals. But if you are running a football club you have to weigh up how valuable and over how many years. Would he be valuable enough to keep in the first team next season and not have bought Cabaye? Nope, always thought we needed a CM upgrade. But how often have we played our 1st choice side this season? We need options and he's a pretty decent one to turn to when you're chasing a goal. Which is probably why a contract offer had lots of appearance-based incentives. And probably why he turned it down.
