That's what sticks out to me. He'd be talking to the rest of the defence throughout the game to offer encouragement and ensure everyone knew what they were doing. The type of defender who sees it as his job to solely ensure his side doesn't concede goals. Just a shame his athleticism and natural ability were never anywhere near Premier League class.
