0.57. I think we can all agree he’s demonstrably brilliant at his job. Figures and what we see on the pitch. Any implication he’s part of the problem is bullshit.
-
His stats are far better than 1 in 2. Not sure what your deal is with Isak, recently - I don’t know whether it’s a defence of Eddie or what. Just tell it like it is, it went tits up.
-
‘The players aren’t up for it against the smaller teams’ is a lazy comment from lazy pundits who have no ability or inclination to address tactics beyond ‘he was standing off him’. We’re just a better side off the ball than on it and obviously a much better side at home. These issues away from SJP have been going on for 18 months. I genuinely thought Shearer and Given were embarrassing, tbh.
-
There’s not a lot of nuance in ‘should get his act together and start taking his chances’. It implies something that isn’t true. It’s a fucking Donald Trump statement.
-
Even the most ardent Eddie lovers last season admitted (rightly) he needed a good start to this one. There’s a lot of head in the sand stuff going on. Thankfully some smart, balanced opinions too.
-
Is this really how much we’re on Eddie’s dick, boys? Going after our best player.
-
Not really, that’s the opinion of a clown and you know it is. The criticism of Eddie, who currently I don’t want to get sacked, is completely legitimate. Isak’s been mostly brilliant from his first game to today’s game. He’s doing his job.
-
The poster said he should ‘get his act together’. He stands out a country mile as our best player, gave one of the best forward performances I’ve ever seen in our colours on Wednesday, scored again today, and without him we’d have easily finished bottom half last season (and God knows where we’d be this campaign). Get his act together. Have a word.
-
And by your own admission he deserves criticism, so I’m not sure what your point is. It’s not a high bar either, is it. Bobby had a poor side for 2 seasons, Rafa a Championship one. And Isak isn’t 12th after 15 games.
-
But you acknowledge we’ve gone backwards since spending a lot of money from that summer onwards?
-
His strike rate is just better than anyone else’s in our Premier League history, like. Clown.
-
He was backed summer 2023. From a collective point of view we’ve gone backwards since then. Last season has a tonne of mitigation of course.
-
We’ve spent nearly £200m gross since we finished 4th, right? Putting this on PSR is a stretch.
-
What is the main reason? I’m genuinely interested in what you think the problem is.
-
He’s getting beaten to his left too much and he’s terrible on the ball. He isn’t a huge concern yet but he will need replacing in the next 2 seasons.
-
Him being in the dressing room can’t be the best thing for us, surely?
-
Has anyone mentioned Almiron’s cameo btw? Fucking hilarious. The bright point of the day seeing him parody a professional footballer.
-
A lot of people don’t and won’t. It’s the contrast between the mentality of our lot and Man U. 2 trophies, 2 qualifications for CL and EL for ETG. Bad start, out. We don’t think like that. It’s a just happy to be here mentality hanging over from the Ashley days.
-
In terms of the availables I think he’s what we need for the here and now. What’s his nationality got to do with it?
-
Mancini would be my pick, btw, if he’d come.
-
Agree with some of that. I just think we’ve been shit for the vast majority of the season and it can’t be acceptable. No other club with our ambitions would just put their hands over their ears and promise themselves things will get better based on very little. £75m to spend in the summer (Hall’s fee aside) and they bought just Osula. What were they all thinking?
-
The performance midweek, though immeasurably better than the rubbish either side, was the definition of a midtable side at home on a Wednesday eve against very good one. We’ve had enough of being midtable alsorans.
-
Yeah I feel for him. Top guy, but the Second half performances against WH, Palace and today suggest he’s incapable of fixing it.
-
Every time someone is critical of Eddie or the direction of the club to be fair.
