  1. Mick Williamshit. Seriously, though, I feel no hostility towards the poor bloke whatsoever.
  2. Rooney's an excellent footballer who wants to win above all else. Ba wants individual glory so he gets the big move. Aye, I can see why you'd think that based on his own words, the selfish rascal! You also forgot to put in your boilerplate about him tiring after 60 minutes. Not really any need, tbh. I think even you've come round to my way of thinking in that regard.

He reminded me of Ba in the latter part of last season to an extent on Monday night. He was trying too hard to score, basically; snatching at anything that came his way and making runs too early. Still, unlike Ba his touch and general play was very tidy.

Pardew will have some selection problems if everyone's fit now. Anita seems to get used to the pace, Marveaux seems to be at full fitness now, HBA has to be played that goes without saying. Jonas, still is a very important player so it's gonna be interesting. If Jonas remains a 'very important player' in Pardew's eyes much longer I'll hold my hands up and admit he should be sacked. Depends on the opponent imo. If we're playing away against a very good team, he'll always be a very important player. How? He's only going to get worse from the useless level he's at now. He's done.
  5. Yep, he's lovable, talented and mature enough as a footballer to play top flight games. He's actually a walking reason why the likes of Sammy need a year starting regularly in a lower league.
  6. When you look at who's gone down in the last few seasons, are they really overachieving that much? He's certainly a good manager of a small club, that absolutely can't be disputed.
  7. Cisse? Anita and Marveaux played well against 10 men last night so they deserve to be in the team more. I agree about that. I just can't see him being on the bench for even a short period. Nor should he ever be benched unless he needs a rest.

  9. Cisse? I don't know. Not seen anything this season to want him in the side if we are injury free. Looks low on confidence, awful touch and finishes. Also don't know the offside rule. Obviously this can change, but I would prefer the above players for now. His first touch has been excellent in the last few games, dude. As it was last season.
  10. The one thing players and managers moan about most is consistency and that would throw that out of the window. True, but let them moan.

  12. He isn't an attacking midfielder, he's basically the same type as Anita with different attributes.
  13. As I said, there's got to be some latitude to apply punishment in addition to the penalty. There's enough officials present to make an informed decision on whether a red is truly warranted.
  14. There's always a second chance on a playing field anyway. The rule handcuffs refs from making a decision based on common sense. A penalty is fair enough but a red card and a suspension because two players rub shoulders in the area? It's just silly.
  15. Roy Hodgson? Brendan Rodgers? Sam Allardyce? http://i.imgur.com/S0W6N.gif Jury's still out on Rodgers, I think he'll be okay at Liverpool. Neither Hodgson nor Big Sam has ever run the kind of fluid, attacking football that Martinez preaches, which is the kind of football it takes to win these days. Playing devil's advocate here - but 'fluid, attacking football' is clearly not the only kind of football it takes to win these days. That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation. More often than not, it is though. Not many teams are going to be successful playing Big Sam's hoofball. My point is, I believe Martinez would be far more successful at a bigger club with more resources employing his style of football than Big Sam or Hodgson ever were employing theirs. Thing is, if you were forced to watch Wigan every week you'd probably revise that opinion.
  16. So you need the red card to avoid strikers getting clattered at all costs? It's a man's game, dude.
  17. And just keep giving away pelanties ? I understand where Ian is coming from. The history of this law comes from when defenders on the line would simply handle the ball to stop it going in, if I remember rightly, yeah you give away a penalty but at least you have a second chance, if they don't score, your team escapes with just a yellow card. If Ba doesn't score that pen last night, we would have received nothing for the incident. Which would've represented justice, tbh. If you make a mistake and the opponent fails to take advantage of it, that's that.
  18. Doesn't really mitigate for Williamson, does it? He wasn't tested, but he still looked an accident waiting to happen.
  19. You watch the game last night? Yeah. We won the game mainly because of Cisse's movement off the shoulder. He's still the best player we have in a central striking role.

OK then make that 2 seconds ... Michu is premier league class and an all round player unlike a very poor Cisse ALL season not just last night Deary me.
  21. Jol was sacked. Keegan did brilliantly with and without resources. Wigan tread water every season with a squad that is always just about good enough to avoid relegation. I don't see much to support the idea that Martinez could step up with more money to spend.
  22. Not at all. The amount of times he passes back to Krul instead of playing it forward as he has no confidence in his own ability is extremely frustrating. This.
