  1. While I agree that the club is going absolutley nowhere at this moment in time, I think its worth pointing out that we are in pretty much the same position as we were a couple of weeks ago, apart from being out of a competition. Granted that going out of that competition has effectively ended our season but it has taken for us to go out of this competition to actually realise that the paper over the cracks is very thin. I would consider myself quite an optimistic person and if I'm honest I find myself looking at what some people on here write and almost laughing thinking how quickly emotions can change, but I think realisation is starting to kick in from even the most optimistic of people. I think I am guilty of thinking that Roeder has done a pretty good job when we string a couple of results together and thinking that we should give him time, but its just not working. Even when we do string a couple of results together there is absolutely no fluidity in our play, and its not really entertaining to watch (bar the odd moment of magic from individuals). I know that it is considered a good thing when a team plays poorly and picks up results and we can hide behind that when we get results against the like of Spurs, and Aston Villa, but we were extremely lucky, and I personally thought we was so poor it was alarming and worrying that we was going to get found out, and we were against Birmingham even though we played probably as bad/well against them as we did against Villa and Spurs. Me and my dad are both pretty much as fanatical as we can be considering we live in the south, but even my dad is starting to lose interest and I'm beginning to just not be so fucked off about bad results because its almost expected. I think the thing that puts this into the most perspective for me is that I find myself seeing highlights of Spurs matches and thinking "they play some good football". I fucking hate Spurs!!! I don't know if this should be in this thread but I wanted to have my say.

As far as i know, there isn't a law stating that EVERY SINGLE inhabitant of a region that is fanmous for liking football HAS to be zealot. well i didnt actually say there was, i was more interested in what people who live around the area had to say about their reputation! According to your post, you're asking BECAUSE you got in a taxi, and the fella knew f*** all. Geordies aren't particularly fanatical compared to anyone else. Thats just one of those pathetic "sky lies". You're right the reason I am asking is primarily because I got in a taxi and the bloke knew fuck all, whats your point? It just prompted me think about whether it is all over hyped by the media or not and wanted the opinion of the locals.
  3. dont like to dismiss peoples opinions without giving a valid response but that was just bullshit!

  5. Ditto. Had some personal bad news last night too, so this doesn't feel all that bad right now tbh. It'd feel better if we'd won it like. now theres a bit of perspective!
  6. i actually thought of u at full time mate cos of how buzzing you was over the first leg!! lol
  7. i think that might be what it is with me
  8. I dont know why but i dont feel that angry at the mo, normally I would lay in bed thinkin about it for hours and just be pissed off, ignorin football in general, but this time it just feels like it was obviously going to happen!
  9. Also, didnt Solano say the other day that you cant pump balls up to Dyer and Martins because they are small? wtf was he doing all game!!!
  10. Solano's passing was shit today. I think the players are as much to blame as Roeder since they were a bunch of gutless fucking clowns, but Roeder just sat and watched and gave absolutely no guidance!

    Roeder Out

Well said that man. completely agree with that, too scared to make any changes! he hasnt done bad for us overall but he has been found out big time tonight. We will go nowhere with him in charge!

    Two Fingered Salute

we arent gonna go anywhere with roeder, hes done ok up until now but thats it! hes too afraid to make decisions he just sits and watches!
  14. Lenny

    Emre

I blame roeder mostly for that he just sat and watched hes afraid to make decisions! At the same time though the players should have shown some pride and they were just fucking awful! Emre done well when he came on!
  15. Wish we was playin tonight, I got football training tomorrow gonna miss the game!!!
  16. I actually can't believe people want to sell him before he's produced any goods for us, hes starting to show signs that hes coming back into form, and when he hits it he will be massive for us! His season has been very stop start so I think its somewhat understandable that he hasn't been able to find any form.

Also, do u often see players in the streets/nightclubs/bars etc, or public places and if u do how do people react to it? The closest team of any "significance" to where i live is Gillingham and 1: thats still 60 or so miles away and 2: They are shit!!!

    Geordies

i was most disappointed, the first geordie i speak to and he dont like football!!!

    Geordies

Really original title I know but..... Are geordies as a whole as fanatical about football as people say they are? I only really ask because the one time I was in Newcastle (Im from Kent) I got in a cab and started the usual conversation as you do, and I mentioned I was up for my birthday watching the Olympiacos game, and the bloke didnt even know we were playing them and told me he werent really into football! I was shocked!!! Everyone always says how everyone in Newcastle is so passionate about their football, I must have met the only fucker that dont give a shit! so yeah, was just wonderin!
  21. i guess you could add bramble to that list as well to be honest since on his day he is actually a quality CB. just doesnt have those days often. Our biggest problem is that most of the time its only really one player at a time in our team thats "on his day" I think Bramble normally does better in Europe. Aye we've had some great performances in Europe over the years and Bramble's played an integral role. The question is can he go through 6 Europeans games without a costly clanger? how many games has he gone at the moment without making a mistake? hes been playing really well lately!

  23. I dont agree with that at all, in that first half we played really well and it wasnt down to them playing badly!
  24. He's been playing at the highest level for 4-5 years now, if he was capable of ironing out the flaws in his game i imagine he would have done so already. He is an explosive player, if a little inconsistent, but i don't see him improving dramatically from here. Yet, he's still only 22, in his first season in a new country, playing for an injury ravaged squad with an inadequate manager. On top of that he's had to deal with some of our fans who are all too happy to write someone off quickly. You never fail to worry me with your pessimism. I think he's been brilliant. He's already scoring regularly in the Premiership and in Europe, i just think the flaws in his game are part of him rather than something he'll improve on. thierry henry was at Monaco for a good few years and then juventus and even arsenal for a season before he became considered one of the worlds best so i cant say i agree that you dont think a player of the age of 22 wont improve over the next few seasons!
  25. Dyer, Emre and Martins at the top of their games!
