He is not a spectacular player but, what he does he does very well. His first touch is superb and he is not afraid to put in a firm tackle. I really like him in that defensive central midfield role. He is keeping Diame out as well which is, frankly, quite a thing. Diame was immense in that position before he was injured. When Shelvey came on in the second half I thought our midfield actually looked really good, well balanced and I can only start to dream of Shelvey though balls onto Almiron as this season draws to a close!

It is like when they had 3 games in hand over the teams above them in that league. To them that was obviously an additional 9 points that needed to be added to their tally. That went well for them.... :idiot2:

Absolutely fuckin love this player! Already....

Also... isn't the stadium build on some old brown field site that is full of buried industrial waste so even the land is worthless to build on should someone decide to flatten that stadium and build a Sports Direct store or similar on the space vacated?

My vote would be to put the hotels on Park Lane and Mayfair. The rent is substantially better than what is would be on lesser squares such as Whitehall or Old Kent Road..... he is talking about Monopoly isn't he?

I sent a mail to my friend in Atlanta to confirm the news about Almiron... here is his reply... Yes, I’ve been following it closely. I’m curious as to how he does. He had a lot of great players around him in ATL, compared to most of MLS. It’s certainly not the same situation in Newcastle. I’m pretty confident he’ll make a difference. No one works harder. Saturday at Spurs will be on TV here. Do you think he’ll get on the field? Really looking forward to seeing him play!!

Come on man!! It is 9:12am in Atlanta now, surely we can have this one announced to take away the fear that it is going to fall through for some bizarre reason or other! Edit, see post above doh!

For what it is worth this is correct.

Haha!!

He definitely bottled the second yellow for De Bruyne and once he had done that he really had no choice but, to let Perez' second one go as well. In that respect both teams were lucky and probably should have been down to 10 players each. Makes me feel sick when they can remove a player like De Bruyne and replace him with Bernardo Silva.... meanwhile we have Callum Roberts and Jacob Murphy trotting up and down the line warming up... (nowt wrong with either player but, a hell of a gulf in ability compared to their bench options).

Like most others on here are saying... that result means such a lot to me! So chuffed for the players and for Rafa, plus it is not like we didn't deserve it... The team held its shape throughout and apart from being caught cold in the first few seconds with, what was in fact, a tremendous ball to Sterling I thought we defended really well. I think there was no more than one shot in each half on target for Man City. Rondon was immense again, we got to keep this guy at the club. The difference between him, who wants to be here, and Kenedy who mostly goes through the motions is tangible. Perez had another good game and young Longstaff is going to be some player, reminds me of a young Michael Carrick, maybe that has been said elsewhere as well... From expecting to be reemed, having that feeling re-enforced after 24seconds to the last 15 minutes of pure tension and to the amazing scenes at the final whistle that ranks as one of the best match day experiences for me for many years. AND... we got a penalty, that never happens!

Maybe if you remain as a member you can keep the points but, for a far lower fee..... Don't know, just assuming...

Totally agree here, without Diame in the team we have no bite in midfield, City will cut through Hayden and Longstaff as though they aren't even there at all. Shar in a defensive midfield role alongside either Hayden or Longstaff is not a bad call.... As long as we have Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark and Lejeune all in behind them. It's going to be a long and bruising night I think, I know a lot of people on here say they don't care but, I think that no-one really wants to see us being humped into oblivion do they?
-
We will lose by at least 5 goals tomorrow....
-
He is unavailable for tomorrow as he is injured, small mercy.
-
Someone earlier mentioned that he wins loads of headers / flick ons... When he runs forward 10 yards and flicks his header on into the space he has just left who the fuck does he think is going to get on the end of them? Just compare with Rondon who will run onto a long ball then bring it under control and hold it up to allow others to come into play.... World of difference Playing with Joselu is like playing with 10 men, I get the fact that he was low cost and all we were allowed to bring in under Ashley but, I have played with lads in a Sunday Pub League who were better than him, how the hell is a player like that making a living out of this game? I see lads playing Over 40's football now who are better, considerably better!!

Am I right in my understanding that he would need to sign before 12noon today to be able to feature in the Watford home game tomorrow?

Brexit isn’t going to happen. The extension to article 50 will happen first and then when they finally realise there’s no way out without getting fucked, a second referendum will be called. At this point, all those who didn’t bother voting the last time will, now that they have more facts. And basically 2/3 years of all this nonsense will have been a massive waste of time, effort and money. My exact opinion on the Brexit topic as well. Way off topic for this thread but, the original vote was so badly represented to the public that it appealed to hysterical racists who thought that by leaving the EU we could stop middle eastern and African immigrants from entering our country and at the same time boost the NHS by GBP350M per week!! Last time I checked Africa and Syria are not in Europe.....

@ Shearergol A boycott needs to be organized properly, I think the leaflet distribution for the last one was a great try but, the number of them that were discarded should have given an indication of the level of support for such an event. It took just one person in a tweet saying it shouldn't happen for the whole thing to collapse. I think it is fair to say that this month is pivotal to everyone, if we have the sort of month that I am expecting then I think you will find appetite to protest growing in a much larger number of supporters. Try to set up a new schedule of protests at the end of January and watch the levels of support rise. As soon as people realize that Rafa is leaving and Ashley is staying there will be some real anger starting to well up!

If you think that everyone will chuck their tickets in and not turn up if he stays then you are also deluded. I was just giving an alternative opinion, I expected to be criticised for it but, I know that I am not alone. I don't expect that. But you came on here and gave a load of reasons which are not strawman at best, using not being able to get your ticket back is the lamest excuse I've heard off yet. Take your point, that is fair but, I have experienced that exact scenario in the past. Very different times I know but, having done it once I feel like I shouldn't repeat the same mistake. I agree that the likelihood of not being able to get a ticket for any future games is remote. I sit next to a couple of older blokes who have had the same seats for 36 seasons, when I talk to them about boycotts or walk ins they just look at me like I am stupid, they have no intention of ever not going to the match. You have to accept that this forum represents a very thin slice of our fanbase and everyone will have a different take on the current situation. Many will be absolutely oblivious to anything being wrong at all....
-
Would you join in a boycott though, or do you think it's pointless? That is a great question, I thought the 11 minute walk in was pointless and had no intention of ever taking part in that but, I was seriously considering the Wolves boycott. If another boycott was planned I would easily be able to miss a game as long as the boycott was planned properly and had majority support behind it. If only a few people take part then it is a waste of everyones time!

So many stories on here that are following the same theme of "enough is finally enough" and I wont be renewing etc... I think I will renew next season regardless and here is why: I started going to the match regularly in the early 80's, mostly with my friends from school and we would roll up to the Gallowgate turnstyles quite early to queue for a pay on the door entry. Around the early 90's a friend of mine got a job as a match day steward and if we turned up to his gate around 3:10 he would open it up and we could all get in for free, this was in the Milburn Paddock. All of the time the stadium was being redeveloped and various areas were being closed while the building work took place but, we always found a way to get in, either paying on a gate that was open of getting in through my mate and his hooky behavior. Not sure exactly what season it was but, it was early in the Keegan reign, we started to be told that if we didn't buy a season ticket we would not be able to get in because the ground was selling out. Back then a ticket for me would have been about 100quid for the season, maybe a little less but, we just ignored the warnings until the day we turned up and there were no turnstyles operating and we couldn't get in. I then missed loads of matches when we were great - although I was able to get tickets for many of the great games. It gutted me and still does to know that I missed hundreds of games back when Newcastle were fantastic. I did put myself of the waiting list and eventually got a ticket in the East Stand, I didn't renew for one season during the Pardew days and I can honestly say that I missed the football immensely - even though we were rubbish and ultimately were relegated. I got a new ticket the season following when we were in the Championship and Rafa stayed on, I was able to get the seats just along the same row as the location of my original seats so it feels like I never left. So, my fear is that I chuck in my tickets now something good will happen, Ashey will sell and a great owner comes along and I will miss great football again because I cannot get a seat. I know it is unlikely and I am really kidding myself if I think it is happening soon but, that is how it is inside my head. I am over 50 years old and have supported Newcastle all my life, as ambiguous as I am towards the current team, win or lose / score or don't score, it all feels the same, I don't think I could stop myself from wanting to be there. Does that make me part of the problem, possibly but, I do not think that match day revenue is such a big part of the NUFC cash cow empire. I agree that empty seats will send a huge message out to the owner but, if he is really driven by money then the gate money will barely scratch the surface. Pretty sure I will be slated for this opinion but, this is how it is for me and I would bet thousands of others who know they are going to renew but, are a little but scared of being barracked on here for admitting it and called out for being weak or part of the problem, I think you all call them sheep or worse....

Pardew to Man U surely....

50 points for a U23 match.... Hopefully it will sell out before going on general sale. Definitely need no idiots from our side at this one...
