  1. Watched their match on MOTD at the weekend, I thought Kamara looked like a handful.... That said our CB's should be able to handle him OK...
  2. I think the West Ham "incident" or reaction was not preplanned but, more a spur of the moment display of enough is enough from the fans involved. It certainly escalated quickly. We are really just one step away... it would not take much to ignite the potential powder keg that is rumbling just under the surface. The current take over potential is keeping most people quiet.... last thing we would want any possible new owner to think is "maybe they'll turn on me like this in a year / 5 years time"
  3. If I didn't use this message board I would honestly have no idea that there were any planned protests. Obviously at the match your hear the odd thing but, not much. I asked the people who sit around me if they were going to come in late for West Ham or boycott Wolves and they all said they were not!

Have they ever received any sanctions for pitch invasions? Seems to be a regular occurrence, in fact I remember a thread on their site where they all spent time reveling in and recalling the many pitch invasions they had been part of.....
  5. Factually Clark is Irish, Dummet is Welsh and Richie is Scotch but, take your points.... (British....)
  6. Funny, me and my son were talking about this at the kick off on Saturday. He started the topic by saying we were starting a match with not a single English player in our 11. It didn't occur to me that everyone in the starting 11 were of different nationalities though.... ( recognize that Hayden is English and came on as a sub ).
  7. I saw him head the ball (badly), I sit much further back in the East Stand. Think the ball went sideways and stayed in the crowd. Didn't realise that he hurt someone afterwards. Whoops! Hope whoever it was is ok.
  8. Since Saturday I think we have all been waiting for and expecting this news to be confirmed... Just seeing how the Leicester people are reacting is really heartbreaking, he seemed to be the perfect football club owner.... engaged in the club as well as the wider community, likeable and generous and an all round good guy. So sad how this sort of thing always seems to happen to the good guys! RIP to all involved, condolences to all of their friends and family.

But.... why turn up in Newcastle tops? If they are local guys to where Sunderland are playing and they want to support the team against Sunderland just go in dressed normally.
  10. This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking yesterday, Kenyon would have access to journalists and news organisations that would allow him to offer a denial to the story if he chose to. He has not done that. However, at the same time there is nothing else to read on the subject from what I can see meaning that the news that broke on Saturday has not developed into anything either....

Whether it is legal or otherwise aside, what this idiot at Sun'lun has achieved is to ensure that any player considering a move to them will surely 'think again' . It throws out a clear message that players really don't want to be there, to the point that some would give up on collecting a salary just to be able to leave.
  12. It's not a criticism of her, but that's grim. I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to walk into a room, or in this case the garage, to find someone hanging by their neck dead! Killing yourself like that is such a cruel thing to do because someone has to find you like that! I can completely accept what his widow is saying there, he is at peace but, she has that gruesome and lasting image in her mind that will stay with her until the day she dies of her husband hanging.... there is no way that you could ever erase such a memory!
  13. I read a similar article on Linked In today on this topic. Also mentioned a GBP 250M project he is "backing" for property in West London. Regarding the Debenhams thing though, guessing he can spot another potential bargain to buy the assets of such a company from a receiver.... despicable bastard that he is!
  14. In the second half on Saturday when Perez number came up for him to be subbed for Muto Richie just walked off and sat down on the bench, is that even allowed by the rules of the game? Perez stayed on obviously but, even the announcer didn't correct the substitution after he has said Perez replaced by Muto..... Kind of odd.... Guess he was just knackered and felt it was better if he stepped out of the game!
  15. Quite a decent article in the Mirror today by Speeds widow explaining the difficulties she has experienced since his suicide and also looking back at some of the warning signs, even when he was just a young teenager!

He didn't turn up for work for a fucking month. Not sure how much more of a breach of contract you want? Try doing that at your workplace whilst ignoring all their attempts to contact you, then swan back in and see what happens. Whilst you might get away with it if you had a great record and they thought the sun shone out your arse before doing that, if they instead wanted you gone then believe me you'd be gone and even a phonecall to ACAS would only result in them laughing at you for being a fucking prat. Much though I hate to say it, I think sunderland are in the right here. Though clearly I still hope they get taken to the cleaners and sued for millions. I haven't seen his contract, but presumably there is no clause that says "if you don't turn up to training then you are sacked". If that was the case how come players do it all the time? You're comparing football to everyday work life and as has been proven a million fucking times it's nowhere near the same. Professional sports/normal employment have never and will never be the same, its a completely unique industry. How come players aren't sacked for refusing to play then? If its the same? Not quite. Clubs would be loath to sack players because then they cease to be an asset and players would Just take to not turning up in order to force a free move. In this circumstance I think the player has thought he'd easily get a move and suddenly found out nobody wants him, at least not on anywhere near the pay he was on there. Another point that no-one seems to know here is the one related to the fact that Sunderland allowed the player to be away for a month to find a new club (without pay). Was this arrangement to be that if he found a new club that he could just leave? I really doubt that, Sun'lun must have put some sort of value on him. If that value was set at such a level that it was an obstacle to the player securing a move then surely the club is partially culpable making the fact that they subsequently fired him something of a moot point whatever the reasoning they are giving for ending his contract. It is far more likely that they have reached an agreement with the player to terminate the contract, this could have involved a financial payment being made, and now just playing the big shot club owners saying they fired him. In some ways a mutual termination of contract could be considered being fired in all but, words!

Most clubs could play out to an empty stadium week in and week out, it would barely dent the money being generated for clubs by the Premier League and TV deals. In fact in some ways an empty stadium would not require any police presence therefore be of some value to clubs, based on the point that clubs have to pay for police attendance. ( I believe). In terms of potential advertising revenue there would be an impact as few advertisers would want to advertise to an empty stadium, in our case that is a moot point as we do not generate advertising revenue, Ashley just takes that for free.
  19. I'd say it was a pen because the trailing leg made it a tackle from behind. The way I saw it the trailing leg didn't make any contact at all.... I think even VAR would have had a split decision in that case.....
  20. true but the last one barely lasted 30 mins, it needs to be longer to see a meaningful loss in revenue although every little helps!! Bet he docks the shop staff wages for the duration of the protest....
  21. Wouldn't put it past Ashley to have hired some serious security for the store this week. Please try to keep the protest as peaceful as possible - at least peaceful in actions... aggressive and hateful in voice!!

Yes that was enjoyable, closely followed by their "strong lineup" which was countered by it was only a League 1 U23 team and clearly Newcastle fans should take no delight in beating a team of that stature.
