FWIW I wouldn’t make that first criticism, if a player has a contract they can do what they want. I don’t even think Dubs ‘shouldn’t’ done what he did, it’s up to him. But I don’t have to like him. TBF if it wasn’t Man U I probably would have reacted much. And because he moved to sit on someone else’s bench and have even less chance of starting games. But I never expected him to play for us again. If he’d gone somewhere to play it would’ve been different.

I don’t remember anything Dubs said but I was unhappy with him bottling any competition for his place and wanting out. I would have sacked him off permanently if possible.

Whatever the aim, you can only get there so quickly. If we hadn’t signed these players that people are so sure will want to leave, we wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of the league. We need more of those players that are ‘too good’ to stay here, surely? Otherwise how can we ever bridge the gap. If every good player is allowed to leave in the meantime, we’ll never progress. That’s the Brighton model.

He's relatively young as well, forget how early he broke through at Man U.

I get what you’re saying, I just don’t see how I can judge if 45m is OK but 55 is overpaying. And I also don’t know how that spending will affect other signings because I don’t know the plan. I guess we lack trust in the club because of the previous PSR run-in, but for me they can be trusted not to make that mistake again.

Well Gordon was £40m before he’d done anything, so I’d definitely be raging to sell him for 50 now.
