  1. All companies have some social (and maybe cultural) significance though, if a car manaufacturer goes bust it puts hundreds of people out of work and damages the local community hugely. I see what people mean about football clubs, but they have to learn to manage their money properly.

Same, except I won't make it home.

If your first offer isn't rejected, it was too high.
  4. I still think S Taylor is our best bet at RB, physical presence, decent pace and that. Shame he's injured and/or won't get tried out there.
  5. He's got a point to prove in a way, should be highly motivated. He has pace and more end product than expected, I reckon he should do well. As others have said though, the appalling quality of our RBs will not help him.

Yeah, but just because someone wants to join us it doesn't mean we should, or can sign him. Great he wants to be here, but it's only feasible if the financial aspect is right. It seems pretty evident that we don't have (or plan to spend) anything like £5m for a player.
  7. Thought this was a thread about the Teresa Herrera Trophy.

Surely this whole thing is made up? Nothing we've done in recent times suggests we can actually buy good players for money.
  9. Easiest question of the year so far, of course not. He's proven not to be good enough for the Prem. A bit like Shola, except we never managed to sell Shola.
  10. I'd like to think there must be something about Best for him to be signed... still think he'd have gone on a decent run if one of his near misses had gone in last season. Saying that, I haven't seen anything to suggest he can score more than a goal or two in the Premiership. We definitely need to sign a proper partner for Carroll.
  11. You can, I'm just about to do it for Villa.
  12. I don't get it... he likes cake?
  13. I agree that the big clubs shouldn't be able to stockpile the best players, but at the same time we want home-grown players to be developed. It would be difficult to do bring your young players through if you had to sell them as soon as they had a fancy for first team football.
  14. In the history of the game, it's very recent.

    Dan Gosling

He really should concentrate on shutting his hole.
  16. It was funny at the beginning but was probably twice as long as it needed to be.
  17. I'm not a massive fan of loaning players from other Premiership clubs, but if Cleverly has something about him and he helps us stay up then he's worth a go. Might be a short loan deal until Gosling is fit I suppose. Or not.
  18. Jesus. Yeah, just what I was thinking. Oh, and woosh. Nah, nee woosh, that's what the smilie was there to prevent! Honest.
  19. Very good point. True, although that relies on the other teams using the money wisely. For £30m you could buy at least 3 players all as good as Milner.
  20. Commenators, co commentators and pudits saying "well there was contact, so its a pen" even tho the contact is minimal and the player chucks himself on the deck cos an arm was rubbed up against him. Of course there will be contact, players have to try and regain possesion from the opposign team, players will rub up against each other. This also brings me on to refs who dont seem to understand the basics of physics. Commentators have adapted far too easily to the new era of diving and cheating... they seem to just expect it now, and support the players doing it.
  21. well said. He's left the club now so no use crying over spilt milk in any case. Im happier with jonas on te left and hopefully routledge will realise his potential on the right. Thirded. I think he was worth 5-7 million, and probably still is. Sadly transfer fees are based on hype, so he's probably 'worth' at least 20 now.
  22. I love it, especially the way Carroll combines it with Geordie grit. Any chance of Perch or Goswell growing theirs?
  23. OK. As well as Milner has done in the last year, it beggars belief that Villa want £30million for him. Madness. True, but it's madness to sell anyone to Man City without opening negotiations at £30m. Apart from us Yep, unless they're one of Europe's top goalkeepers, then you should obviously let them go cheap.
