  1. Not impressed by the write-up of that. Why print what he said and then make up your own mind about what he meant in the next sentence? That's not an interview/Q&A write up, it's an opinion piece. And as for saying the 'Ashley + Wise Out' banner at the recent rally wasn't from NUSC... why didn't they take it down then?

    Souness

    Without anesthetic.
  3. The result of this one is probably beyond doubt, Hughton has a difficult job to cushion the impact of a potential hammering while still getting the players up for the game. Not sure what we can hope for, even asking for 'commitment' won't be enough, Man Utd have that in spades and will still probably out-compete us. Just hope it isn't a complete hammering, and nobody gets sent off and banned.
  4. Judging by his reactions during the Bolton game, he's now shitting himself! please explainify - didn't have coverage where i am...heard it a bit though, worse than the usual glum face by the sounds of it? Yeah, just his reactions and facial expressions really. Not sure it was enough to suggest he now realises how bad we are, but I imagine he was expecting a decent win at Bolton and got quite a shock. ah, , that's a pity - thought he might have been caught on camera mouthing "what a load of shit, this can't go on any longer it's time for a change" or something way to raise my expectations then instantly deflate them dude!! It was more than his normal reaction I reckon, but can't really say it means he'll suddenly do anything. Not much he can do at this point anyway really
  5. Colo is above our level to be honest, he's a player for the team we want to become. Hope we can hold onto him long enough to improve the rest of the squad!

  7. Surely when people talk about 'ability' usually, they just mean 'how effective a footballer is he?'. Yes, technical ability is different to effectiveness in a game, or that ball-juggling guy would be the best player in the world! The physical aspect of the game is also underestimated. When Michael Owen had fit, willing legs he was one of the best players in the world... look at him when he plays now. Even at a very low level of football, I know when I'm at my fittest I can get the better of players who are much better on the ball and technically skilled. Experience can sometimes compensate for a lack of physical attributes, but only up to a point and only for 1 or 2 players in a team. Arsenal play brilliant football, but I would argue that they actually keep things quite simple when it comes to 'technical skill'. What they do is do everything faster and more efficiently because they are fit, confident and motivated.

  9. Apathy was setting in before the Bolton game, but now the terror of relegation is back I care again. I know it's not massively more/less likely really, but I'm shitting myself at the thought of our next few games.
  10. I've been to Oxford, Maidenhead, Fulham and Reading games, but I never 'supported' them. Just enjoying some football when I couldn't get to SJP. If that's what you mean then I don't see a problem. If you mean giving up on Newcastle then yes, it's a fate worse than death for you.
  11. Think he's doing alright today TBH. Davies is the definition of a difficult CF to play against, and he's challenged him well. No centreback is going to dominate him completely.
  12. One good thing about the toon this season is I don't get a sense of panic when the defence have something to do. First time in ages. Not sure why it is, considering the position we're in, but they do look a decent back for. Enrique has been good the last couple of games.
  13. Setanta is a joke of an outfit... horrible channel. I've seen those penalties given before, but it wasn't a definite by any means. And love how they focussed on Martins waving the imaginary card, rather than the fact he was right about it being a booking!
  14. For a man who can barely move, Shola seems to get himself offside a hell of a lot. Not too bad towards the end of the half... if we can get it down and pass it we look decent. They need to start fining people for playing long balls.
  15. Don't understand the fuss about the 'imaginary card', it's no worse than any other challenge of a referee's decision. People seem to think it's worse that shouting "fuck off ref" or whatever, to me it's the same - commentators getting in a flap about nothing.
  16. Nobody wins in a case like this, except financially. Win, lose or settle, Keegan has hit Newcastle when they're down with a court case they didn't need at the worst time... he has gone down in my estimation for that. Win, lose or settle, the club will look like they are victimising a geordie legend and/or they've been lying all along. Depressing really.

That team is nice like, hope we'll eventually get to play something like our best 11. Would love to see us give Hull a stuffing, they are on a major downer. Also, in hyper-optimism, Nacho might come in and keep us up with 6 or 7 games of genius!
  18. I think he's arguing 'constructive dismissal', meaning he felt he was left with no option but to walk out. It would be up to the court to decide if that was reasonable, if it gets that far. Doesn't mean he didn't walk at all... I'm not saying it was 'clear cut' though.
  19. So we believe the bit about the budget being cut because of KK, but not the bit about the £30m?
  20. Very selective. There is no plan for Kinnear to get a net spend of £30 million in the summer, regardless of the outcome of Keegan's settlement, and nothing that Llambias has said points to that happening. Have you been in the boardroom meetings recently then? Funny how we tend to believe the press when it's negative and not when it says something like that.
  21. It's a fact (!) that if they have to pay KK compensation then it will have to come out of the budget... don't see how you can argue with that.
  22. The only thing baffling about those quotes is the way you've decided to highlight them. Can't see anything wrong in any of those three. By all means criticise him sensibly but that post is just bollocks I'm afraid.
  23. Truth, every business works with credit and has debts that they can service out of income. It's when they get out of control and income starts to stagnate that you have a problem. There's no way we could have gone on spending the way Shepherd was, even he would have cut back if he'd stayed. Luckily for him though, he left us in a financial mess and fucked off with a massive pay day.
  24. Fair enough, let's not waste time complaining about 'communication' then, that's all I'm saying.
