  1. I wouldn't exactly call being in a relegation battle steady progress. There's also no excuse that Nicky Butt is still deemed good enough to start. You're right the results have been awful, but I've got to put that down in no small part to the off the field chaos and some unlucky injuries. Butt I agree with you on, hopefully a proper defensive midfielder is on the list.
  2. To me all the talk of the players we haven't brought in and the cover we still need is irrelevent... it was always the plan to make steady progress without wasting fortunes like before, and we're doing that. As for some of the backup being past its best, you can't just make the likes of Duff and Smith disappear, they're on big contracts for big money. Yes, if we didn't care about financial stability we could just add to them, but I guess we are being quite cautious in that respect.
  3. Is there anyone on here involved in the management/committee of NUSC? If so, what is going on with your communications and website? If not, get on it, you should be trying to canvass fan opinion.
  4. I hope you've got your tin hat on. Its kind of sad that he actually needs one. I agree with him, one of the most ironic things I've seen in recent years is the same people who protested to get Ashley out saying how class they think Jonas and Coloccini are. Add Guthrie and Bassong to the list and the ironyometer might explode. Eh? You're saying this, but who knows who we might have been able to get in if the manager had his way. Also the squad is still terribly weak in areas that the manager said needed improving the most. But don't let that get in the way though as in three transfer windows we've signed a couple of canny players though. You've got a point, but nobody ever signs a whole new first team in one go. How many players would have been realistic to bring in, 8, 9, 10? I just think the club did a good job with transfers. I really don't think the squad is that weak, although you're right we need a couple of bodies in.
  5. I really don't know what'll happen now, I know the press seem to thing it's a forgone conclusion he'll be off but I get the impression he's quite comfortable here and I think there's a chance we might be able to hold onto him.

  7. I think he deserves another 5 or so games to get settled in before we do anything like go for Geremi/Jonas on the wings.
  8. That's the first time I've seen it. I know man, completely moronic.
  9. Those stats are pretty interesting, shows that we've managed to tighten up at the back without reducing our goal threat much at all. Helps that we seem to have decided on a settled back four that are performing, and Bassong turned out to be a transfer of the season contender.
  10. Just saw what Owen mouthed on MOTD2, class! Nice to see him looking confident, I'm still holding on to the hope we might be able to keep him.
  11. Thing is, Kinnear's brief would clearly have been to just keep us in the premiership. To do that he would have realised he had to make us much harder to beat first and foremost. Yes some of his late changes have been overly negative and have cost us, but I still think he's doing a decent job. He's also an easy target for the media which doesn't help his cause much.
  12. Really hope that whoever was responsible for those finding these players and signing them - assuming it was not Keegan - continues in their role of finding and recruiting players for the club, particularly with an unknown quantity like Kinnear in charge. Yea i agree, IF it was Wise then he deserve a lot of credit. I think it would have been Jimenez and Vetere.
  13. Kinnear in! Shit, my knee is jerking!
  14. But wasn't one of the reasons Keegan quit, supposedly because they tried to sell Owen at the end of the last transfer window? Ashley's still in charge, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he tried to cash in on whatever he can before the sale of the club.... I don't think anyone has a clue about that, just put it on the list of unverified rumours.
  15. If they really aren't a single issue 'Ashley Out' campaign group, then someone needs to get a hold of their communications output pretty quickly.
  16. Like the SJP one, I was trying to do something like that but I couldn't think how to represent the ground. Good one.
  17. Their website is horrible, I thought a while ago that they were going to have a more balanced approach and be professional, but how can Mike Ashley be expected to communicate with a body that openly insults him and publishes 'comedy' poems about him on their website? The whole tone of the site is wrong, the 'countdown' thing is silly, and that poem is completely out of place. The communications and open letters they have on there are all too aggressive and hostile, and they continue to talk like the 'Ashley out' stance is the official line of all Newcastle fans. When I got the email asking why I hadn't joined I didn't know where to start!
  18. Those Sol Campbell ones are over the line!
  19. IF his fitness is sorted then I would have him back in a second, class player IMO. Big if though...
  20. I doubt he would ever sign such a deal anyway.

I want toon fans to be positive... and if that's too difficult I'll have world peace.
  22. I think they might have already had one of those!
