  1. There's no reason to boycott anything to do with Mike Ashley anyway, he hasn't done anything wrong that we know of.
  2. This has been a better summer than most people are saying, bearing in mind those other clubs.

    Team Selection

Exactly how I feel we will ultimately lineup. I love it. If that team doesn't show the club is moving forward, I don't know what does.
  4. It's all about the personal relationships really, whether it is a DoF, a footballing chairman or a direct link from the owner to the manager, the key thing is that everyone is able to communicate, compromise and work together. Sadly successful people generally have big egos, and are normally unwilling to take a back seat for the greater good.
  5. I think the overwhelming logic of the system that Ashley has put in place is the main thing that will mean we come out of this with a decent result. Keegan must be able to see that Ashley is doing right for the club financially, and that the signings (whether KK's or not) have been good ones. Therefore the best resut will be a compromise, and I still think we can get that.
  6. Aye, I agree it has to be someone the manager can work with, but I think it would be naive to suggest an owner would allow the manager 100% say on who it would be. If the point is that the owner believes a manager can't do everything, then he must have some input on who the other person will be. I suppose the manager and owner need to both agree, which is why it's so difficult to get right.
  7. It will happen, over time more and more clubs will move towards the system, although I do believe the manager still needs significant input into transfers. The 'English game' is no longer English at the top level anyway. Most of the owners, managers and players are from overseas.
  8. Did you not read it properly then people? The guy has won the FA cup, he must have the inside line!
  9. We've spent about 10m net. Whoever was bringing players in and it could be the tea lady by the looks of things just hasn't delivered. Players won't be available in Jan, so again we'll have to roll over to next summer. I know what you're saying, all I mean is that is they couldn't persuade the players they wanted then they weren't prepared to sign just anybody. I think protecting the transfer budget in this way is what we needed, considering how we've spent it in the recent past. If we have another summer like this one next season we'll by in a great position IMO. (Obviously barring what has happened with the manager, I don't want that again!)
  10. As I've said I love KK, but even if that random speculation is true (which we don't know) then getting rid of Wise isn't the best thing to do just because Kevin says so. From what I've seen so far, I trust Ashley to make the right decisions for the club. The fact that discussions are still ongoing suggests he is open to being flexible and is prepared to have a debate on these issues. That only makes him a better man in my eyes. And well done to KK for taking part.
  11. I think our attempts to get Modric and Woodgate, combined with the £10m that went on Coloccini, show that the money is there for the right players. It's just that if they aren't available or don't want to come, we'll be sitting tight rather than bringing in anyone we can get.
  12. I think we already know that what Louise Taylor writes is best ignored.
  13. If we agree the point that there will be less spending sprees in the premiership from now on, then all the more reason to support Ashley and the sound financial footing he's attempting to put us on.
  14. Yes, but it didn't take him long to force out the other guy and take the manager's job if I remember right!
  15. I see why you say that but virtually no football clubs are run like that now. I would say they all are apart from maybe Chelsea and Man City. Ferguson and Wenger will definately decide what players they bring in and sell. Ferguson I would go along with, but I think he's an exception as he's put himself in such a strong position over the years.
  16. That's fine for the fans and the press but KK has to go into more detail with the players themselves. It would be impossible for him not to. For sure, I thought you just meant what they should release to the public. The easy bit is managing the fans here, the more difficult aspect is managing communication to the players, how can he ensure that they all stayed committed and focussed ? He may have to come out with a huge lie. Someone in the set up may have to be made out as the scape goat and sacrificed, can't see anyone volunteering for that role. I think the other way, the fans are much harder to keep happy. They have to make do with press releases and sky sportas news. Keegans easiest win will be to get back on the training ground and get the players back on side. He'll have it sorted in no time.

  18. I got this impression as well, don't know where the idea that they're at eachother's throats all the time comes from.

  20. A statement saying that discussions are concluded, were productive, various issues were raised and we're now ready to move forward. The club says it supports Keegan, and KK himself states that he is pleased he had these discussions and he is now ready to move forward with Newcastle's exciting future under Mike Ashley. Not that it will stop the press going on as usual, but that's what I would like to hear.
  21. Could you point out what's wrong with it thanks. You mean sentence by sentence? I disagree with almost all of it, and the way McNulty states things as facts that he knows are based on speculation is ridiculous. A few examples then, if you insist: "One thing we do know with absolute certainty is that Newcastle is once again a club in chaos, with fractured relationships at the top of the club and a management structure that is fatally flawed." "The BBC and almost every other outlet received information from the most reliable and informed sources that Keegan had left his position. This would not have been reported had there been the slightest doubt." "He may mix with Newcastle's fans during matches, but has no grasp on how they feel about their club - and in particular how they feel about Keegan. " "He cannot sit among those supporters again with his credibility so badly damaged." "If these discussions are actually focusing on football matters, Keegan will presumably be asking for complete control over transfers, a privilege that has been denied to him so far." "If Ashley agrees to that, it will effectively mean the demise of executive director Dennis Wise, who is very much the owner's man despite being an unpopular figure among the Newcastle support. And it should also mean curtains for vice-president (player recruitment) Tony Jimenez and technical co-ordinator Jeff Vetere." "It is difficult to see how Keegan's career at Newcastle can be salvaged without those huge compromises, and even the eventual departure of Wise, Ashley - or both." "Newcastle are left as a laughing stock once more. And no-one on Tyneside is blaming Keegan." Nearly all baseless speculation dressed up as being 'in the know'. I would be embarrassed to publish that.
  22. For fuck's sake, do they actually know anything? http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2008/09/newcastle_left_in_chaos.html
