  1. I think Bendtner is better than a lot of people give him credit for, he's an easy target with the haters because he doesn't look like the typical Arsenal player. Also, he's big headed as fuck, which doesn't endear him to one.
  2. Really depressing news that, can't imagine what it must be like for the fans.
  3. There's an outside chance I might be in the USA on the day of the first England game. I was depressed about that until I remembered it was against the Yanks.
  4. They won't, it's probably a bluff. Except if people do something stupid like start a round of the Coloccini song or go mental when we score our 5th goal, obviously.
  5. I want it to be like the Pavel Srnicek multi-coloured abortion.
  6. No he doesn't. Whoosh! Nah, I realised, I was just playing along!
  7. Yes! And a little crown for sensible, balanced posters!
  8. I saw that on the highlights at the time, I spat my tea out.
  9. Sure you're all right, it just doesn't happen very often. I think it makes sense that intent is important.
  10. Don't think there can be a penalty if no contact is made between two players, surely? Can someone who knows the actual rules clarify? He could have cleared it up by running into the keeper like most players do, and leaving a leg dangling.
  11. However, most other clubs have overspent just as much, they've just used better financial management to handle their debts. Wouldn't that suggest that most other clubs haven't overspent? If they've spent within their means to repay their debts then that's not really overspending. What Portsmouth did was spend far beyond their ability to ever repay, even if they'd managed to get into the Champion's League their earnings wouldn't have covered their expenditure. They might point to their plans for a new stadium, but they've not been filling their current one so it's debatable that they'd have been able to meet their best possible income projections. Yeah, fair point. I think there will be other clubs where the debt levels turn out to be unsustainable though, Pompey are just the first and worst example.

  13. IMO his all round game has looked very poor in a lot of the games this season. However, he's very young and has all of the physical attributes to become a good centre forward. Good to see him picking up goals and improving his confidence. Better service seems to be coming in now as well, he has a greater number of better chances for headers etc. I'm not 100% convinced he's going to make it long term, but I fully hope he does. I'd be tempted to just stick with him as first choice next season and cross my fingers that he carries on his form.
  14. He tends to drift inside anyway, leaving us a bit exposed down the wing. He also doesn't seem to have the stamina to really track back like wide players need to. Would love to see him play central for the rest of the season, with Pancrate filling in when Routledge is out.
  15. I don't think he looks effective out wide at all. He still puts in the odd decent ball, and his set plays are generally decent, but I'd say you're only getting about 50% out of him while he's out there.
  16. Couldn't agree more. He generally looks lost when he's asked to play wide and it's not hard to see why, he's physically not built for it. Same goes for Barton, but similarly he's been asked to play wide far too many games in a Newcastle shirt, usually to accomodate Butt, Smith or Nolan in the centre. Thirded, he can't impose himself on the game out wide, he doesn't have the physical strength or the pace. Down the middle he's better than any of our other midfielders.
  17. Very disappointed with the FLS this weekend. I thought we would have proper extended highlights, but they rushed through the goals really wuickly and that was it.
  18. Relegation was looking a distinct possibility under the last regime as well, to be fair. I don't give him much credit overall, but if he's made massive mistakes then he is making very small steps towards putting them right... that's all.
  19. Those are all decent arguments, not the sure the idea of reviewing the decision while play continues is feasible though. So would you review other decisions... handballs, dives, fouls etc? I guess that could be done just as easily, and the video ref could stop the game at any time. If anything has happened in the meantime (a goal, a booking etc) then it could just be disregarded?
  20. Surely if it was only for this season he would deserve much higher than a 4? We're top of the league and we've made some good signings.
  21. I'd say about a 4 overall. His intentions when he bought the club were alright I think, he was just naive about staying up without spending anything, and being a friend of the fans. We are headed back to the premiership now, time will tell if we can survive this time. Whether this is by accident or design I don't know, but he has to be given some credit for the end result anyway. Almost every other decision, he's got wrong.
