I would feel terrible as a player if I knew ordinary fans were forking out for my wages. I know we pay players wages indirectly (in a way) anyway, but that just feels a bit different.

Although Arsenal are a class club, it seems Krul has a shout at pushing Harper out of team soon, his creaking bones can't go on forever. If that's the case he might be better off getting a prolonged first team spell. Wishful thinking maybe... I know if Arsenal came in for me I would be off like a shot.

Yes, the way Ashley/LambsArse/Kinnear handled it was like making Newcastle look like a Victorian beggar trying to sell his good shoes for a tenth of the real price. Stomach churning, and summing life under Ashley perfectly. Although I'd still argue the Milner sale was a brilliant deal for us. (Not the thread to start this debate again though!)

As other people have said, it would be worse if they had turned up and overshadowed the day. We've got enough real things to criticise Ashley for without making up new ones.

He wants to leave, he's made that clear, he's trying to sell. All any pointless boycotts are going to do is damage our club and make the situation worse, not to mention give the fuckers in the media more ammunition to ridicule Newcastle Utd.

That's a good point actually, if we ever get sorted we might be relying on Shearer to pull in some favours with his premiership pals.

We actually don't have that bad a record at selling people for decent prices, except Given.

No offence to any individual, but I do find it a bit funny that 'glory hunters' that came on board during the 1st Keegan era are now being repaid with so much pain. Not sure why, it affects me as well

I don't think Martins lacks commitment at all, in fact he's one of the few players who seem to have some affection for the club. The problem is that for a variety of reasons (inconsistency, form, confidence, club turmoil etc) he has never produced on the pitch. Therefore I can't bring myself to be sorry he's going. He's probably in my top few personal favourite toon players, but there's nobody I'd be really sorry to see go at the moment.

The mackems might actually be quite potent with Bent, Campbell and Jones.

If there's one thing we learned from Ashley replacing Shepherd, that's it.

Also, Shearer probably doesn't want a rolling contract now when he might be booted out by the new owners. I would love to see it, but it's not realistic.

If we had stability we would likely have already sold a lot of our players surely? TBH, there's not one player at the club I would shed a tear over at the moment. There's a couple who have done alright, but if they want out then so be it... they've been involved in one of the worst periods in our recent history, there's no reason to rate any of them very highly.

I'm not looking forward to it at all really, seems it's going to be largely pain. If we get a takeover sorted it might be a bit better, but even then we're running out of time to do anything about the appalling playing staff.
