  1. I used to love Gateshead Leisure Centre when I was little, they do a cracking bowl of chips for after swimming lessons!
  2. Wouldn't be that unhappy with that, although I can already hear the criticism of Lennon - "headless chicken, no-end product, new Dyer etc etc" - that will come from some people.
  3. Not daft at all, after the horror we were feeling (at one point we really did look like going down) I think we deserve to feel a bit happy, even if otherwise top half wouldn't be considered that good.
  4. Hahnemann no chance, IMO he's worse than both Given and Harper (although Shay is in bad form). He's a decent stopper but nothing like the level we need. Also, if Reading stay up I imagine he'll finish his career there.
  5. Don't forget, they were known as Readham until 1932.
  6. Good shout. He seems to be getting gradually closer each game! I reckon Martins first scorer, will get a thunderbolt early on to start us off!
  7. Really looking forward to this one, like most people I'm expecting an unchanged lineup. Might like to see Zog get some minutes if everything is going well. Will be tough to break down Reading, but if we play like we did against Spurs they won't be able to live with us.
  8. Don't think we'll do it, but we'll have a good go. We have a couple of tough games amongst the winable ones (but I thought that about Spurs I suppose!)
  9. Saw John Oster shopping in Reading the other day, the guy's tiny.
  10. I bet Derby wish they had some more draws...
  11. Aye, Faye was goalside nice and tight but the ball just came at a perfect angle and Bent did excellently to glance it in. Don't think we can really blame Faye for that one.
  12. I wouldn't have a problem with him getting a second chance under the new manager. He will need to improve though.
  13. My most memorable is prob the Baggio world cup final penalty miss, tragic... and an iconic image of the great man slumped on the penalty spot. Loads to do with Newcastle though, Tino vs Barcelona was quite good!
  14. Very true, you can only get limited success by setting out to break up the opposition and destroy the game. To really go places you need to have a style of your own and impose it on the opposition.
  15. Delighted I'm travelling back up for the Reading game now... first time I've turned up at SJP with a bit of confidence for a while. Well done the lads, and especially KK - just shows that inspiration and a positive attitude can do wonders
  16. There was a lot of talk at the weekend on 5 Live about how things are going tits up in the Liverpool boardroom andhow all the fans want is English ownership and someone who understands what football means to people over here (and are motivated by more than just business). I think we might have already found that, fingers crossed it continues to improve.

    Beckham

True, I've got nothing but respect for Beckham, he's come back from being the most hated man in the country - every obstacle he's had in the game he's overcome... he's proved to more than one manager who's written him off that he's still got a lot to offer. That said, I don't want him at Newcastle - the media attention would be insane.
  18. Aye, good luck to him wherever he goes, always works 100% and has got us a few vital goals. Not consistently good enough for where we're aiming to be, but I still hope he can cut it in the premiership somewhere.
  19. He's only 24, a lot of improvement (potentially) left in him.

    FTM

No idea, they're just trying to fill the place aren't they? We would do the same if SJP was half empty.
  21. But why should an experienced international player agree to a deal like that?
  22. Yeah, but he'd make up for it with a comedy dive and feigned injury.
  23. Nice to know we do something in the community. http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headlines/0,,12306~1274194,00.html
