  1. I'm thinking my idea of a 24 hour posting freeze after a game needs putting into practice! Seriously, anyone wanting Sam back is mental - anyone judging KK so soon equally so. Sometimes I think we get what we deserve with spouting this kind of bollocks. We are in a fight, but luckily for us we're fighting with 6 or 7 equally shit teams.
  2. Des Hamilton, looked like the next Pele before he joined us.

Just tweaked that for you :parky:
  4. I think this plan is horrible, but I honestly think it is inevitable... the game has been removed further and further from the fans since the invention of the premiership - we have enjoyed the higher standards and excitement but sadly we are now going to have to witness the end result.
  5. I heard on 5 Live this morning the Derby chairman saying that considering the proposal was unanimously voted for by all of the premier league chairmen. Of course, nobody will want to be left out of the extra money, so even if they don't believe in it they may be temopted to vote yes. I really don't see the point of making these fixtures league games... just stick to the random friendlies if you want an extra couple of million in the bank.
  6. Seems like the points to stay up will be very low this season, which will help us out...

    I know he's a legend, but Abdoulaye Faye isn't a looker.
  8. Remember those cracking two goals he scored for England on his last comeback - he's not finished yet. The goal against boro was classic centre-forward play, I think he's getting sharper all the time.
  9. Some of the worst shit I've heard spoken about NUFC has come from people sitting around me at the match...
  10. Nice to see a lot of people going for Owen/Martins up front... I really think with KK's aim of playing 'proper' football these two can form a good partnership.
  11. I was going to say the same when I opened the thread, I like his hard work but he doesn't produce enough at the moment. Whether he can in a better team remains to be seen. Pretty sure he doesn't have the pace to be a winger in the premiership.
  12. How the fuck do the Sun know 'fans fear another Darren Anderton'? They don't just write bollocks about Newcastle!
  13. There's two sides to 'not accepting sh**' though, I mean the pressure on the home players at SJP sometimes must be immense. Jeering their every mistake does them no favours at all. Sometimes I wonder whether some of our players might prefer to play away.
  14. Thing is, even though we haven't been picking up points, for us to actually drop back many places would require too many shit teams to go on a run... just not going to happen. Obviously it isn't impossible (and the very thought makes me a bit sick), but no reason to think we'r going down IMO.
  15. The way opinion swings back and forth after a result is sometimes scary - maybe a 12 hour posting ban after a game, until eveyone has had a chance to calm down?!
  16. I know what Monkey is saying, but you've got to admit that Arsenal is not the benchmark for us at the moment. Yes, Boro beat them, but the list of teams they've given a spanking to is a lot longer than that. KK hasn't had a chance to get started yet, the fixtures have been evil.
  17. But we always knew we would lose the Man Utd game, and the two Arsenal ones, so KK hasn't really had a chance to get started.
  18. Wasn't John Barnes top scorer in that season?
  19. couple of weeks without signings = mental knee jerk reaction
  20. The one thing Keegan has in his favour is his incredilble people skills and charisma... he will be supported by the new trio, and if he can accept this way of working I can see it being a success. But then I'm an optomist!
  21. Express this morning (I read someone's over their shoulder on the train, didn't buy it!) has a load of shizzite about Keegan moving out of the shadow of Shearer and now having Wise lurking in the background. I feel sorry for the people who take this shit seriously.
  22. I feel a bit fickle saying I'm not too bothered about missing out... as I would have been happy(ish) with the signing. If they can get Woody and King fit they will have an awesome paring there. But that's a massive 'if'.
  23. I can't see us getting anyone this window, but that doesn't mean Kev should be criticised for that aim. He only had a couple of weeks... and premier leage teams normally don't let their quality players move on in the middle of the season. Summer will be very interesting.
  24. We wanted a new broom, a fresh start from the Shephard era - looks like that is exactly what we're getting. The Keegan appointment could be criticised for being sentimental and backward-looking, but this is anything but... so let's give it all a chance to work. I always rated Wise as being much more astute and clever as a manager than he was thought of as a player, and Jimenez and Vetere also have good pedigree it seems. And Dave, you're right about this being a results business... there's no getting away from that. But it's great that we seem to be building a long-term system in the background, that can continue even when a manager is replaced (agree with Steve).
