  1. Kieran Trippier on NUFC future... "The reality is my contract is up at the end of the season, but I'm not thinking about that. I'm just thinking about tomorrow & helping the club get to where they want to be. If I do that, I've done my job. I'm not looking beyond that. "When I leave, I'll know I've helped the club. There's loads of possibilities (what could happen). Football is a strange game. Me & the manager will have a talk in the next couple of weeks"
  2. Probably a preception thing west ham winning the conference recently and then an all prem final last year.
  3. I think the wider issue of player trading and picking the right time to sell is an art form/skill we need to develop quickly. The summer complicates matters as will limit what we do and we need to keep a hold of performers to build something but the point remains we do need to let players go which have profit left in them to reinvest. You have to pray that the talent spotting is less like last summer.
  4. Playing devils advocate for a second if someone offered 50m in the summer for barnes this summer who will be 29 at the end of this calendar year do you gamble on selling him or risk keeping him and him not performing as well sticking around a year or 2 longer and him going eventually for say that 15/20m bracket. Appreciate putting you on the spot and high levels of what iffery going on. Issue is the "bums" or less successful impactful players won't attract the interest or bids. In an ideal world we chose who to sell and when but worse case we need to do well to sell at peak and guess when that is miggy purple season the wilson season he got something like 18 goals.
  5. Newcastle have watched Inter Milan’s exciting forward Pio Esposito, but the feeling right now is that his asking price would be beyond their financial range. It was reported in Italy last year that Inter had already rejected a £42m offer for the 20-year-old, who has since scored three times from five matches for his country.
  6. He gave the ball straight to them in the middle of the park we managed to get away with. Annoyed by his decision when he sprinted through on goal and didn't release to Barnes sooner but a better showing that earlier in the season and I want to give him some credit for being able to be in a position to do some of tbese things. For the amount we paid we need it to work but it's still a low bar hes set for himself when looking to the season as a whole.
  7. Not disagree that the attack is far from ideal with 100m+ not trusted to leading the line. Playing through our middle and the number of goals leaked added to older players going again and again means even if we have a positive end to the season we have more than 1 area which needs work. Big summer is thrown out there alot but really needs to be.
  8. The draw was awful under the circumstances but had we took and kept 1 nil lead into the away fixture parking the bus trying to keep them out possibly going 5 at the back for 90 would have been torture. Not sure if they expecting anyone back for them but if this is them we shouldnt have anything to fear. Gordon to start and Possibly Tino?
  9. From what I recall the way the media spun it was a category of player on a list of clubs but not at the top maybe it an aspect of them as a player unknown? or too high a risk to punt on the fee quoted. Was it not reported at one point isak was on a maybe list with arsenal before we got him? Its all well and good to want to find these players who the big teams dont snap up but not so easy to develop a strategy around it as we also don't want to be the selling/stepping stone club either. I would ideally like is to do both more punts every year who may only ever be squad options/ rotation or view to shop window sell and also a healthy chunk of any spend and budget on immediate 1st team improvements.
  10. I know hes done his ACL but would/could we revisit the Samu lad at Porto or too risky following injury? Seems crazy to spend 120m+ on strikers and still feel like we are now playing without a recognised Striker most of the season.
  11. I mean targett loan out of contract come summer same with lacelles. Hope mentioned ramsdale going back, Trips going and possibly schar add Krafth into the mix that's 5. Then willock if an offer comes in as last chance to sell unless we extend likewise question marks on tino and tonali so before you know it that is 6 or 7. Some are going who are meant to be "squad rotation/competition" so as long as we dont spend crazy money on them its likely to be less in the way of immediate first 11 starters but does depend who goes/wants to leave and if we need a European competition size squad or not.
  12. I think that's harsh hes a potential diamond in the rough but we spent over 120m trying to fill the void of 23/25 goals gone in the side when the rat left. If you think another year of big nick, wissa and osula is good enough for where we want to be fine I hope so too. Hypothetical here I know but if someone said the manager agrees striker needs looking at again and you assess who goes wissa for a massive loss, big nick massive loss or osula double your money in a world where transfer failures harm the club I would vote for osula. Wissa would be my pick based on this seasons performance or lack thereof but dont know anyone is going to bail us out with 40m+ for him. We arent going to be able to recruit in the forward areas without someone going.
  13. I mean does he want to go back on the wing anymore? Is this what we want from our wide forwards anyway being able to play across the front 3? I am still desperate for us to try and play with a 10 him dropping deep to receive or playing off someone would I think be great to see. Appreciate he missed that back post chance but his energy and willingness to run (when he wants to that is part of a problem) just shows he is great when he's on one. I hope the faith showed by the manager in him along with the pending world cup will spur him on to finish the season strong these last 10+ games.
  14. I think the issue is 23 in August, and with big outlay and potential losses needed to shift Big Nick or Wissa means the one that makes "sense" is Osula even if the clauses are met and he costs us the full £15m we could get 25/30/35 with clauses added into his sale contract ideally to allow us the squad place and wiggle room money wise to try and fix the striker issue. It could be an Ivan Toney regret but I dont think we have the time to keep persisting with him while we struggle for results and need consistency ideally.

He wanted to come here so desperately and I am sure inside he is annoyed at himself he cant show his quality just we haven't really see it not getting a game or minutes at this point set backs or not is concerning. He might be our no. 9 in terms of shirt number but could we maybe try him on the wing where he used to play as an option as Barnes scoring form at least has dipped and Murphy/Elanga are not exactly making a case to make their position their own. I appreciate its not where he signed up for but just to see minutes and some confidence building.
  16. I think the lad needs game time his limited mins to goals is actually very good and the injury has limited his chances even further but yes he does just seem this jack in the box no idea what he will do nor does he type. These sort of players don't come along very often and could be an amazing back up/ maverick to come on when you just need that spark. Minimal outlay on him but it just feels a disservice to his career for him to only ever be the back up, to be honest if he had to lead the line for an extended period right now I would worry for us, not to say he cant but just feels like he would thrive given more chances. As long as we 1. get a good fee and 2. do what others do on the gambles buy back/sell on % etc to protect ourselves I don't mind him going. Especially as the way Wissa and Big Nick cost us outlay wise we may need that profit to invest in an attacking rethink, although SCR coming in does that mean worrying about book value profit and loss matter less?
  17. I mean you wont be the only one, it was only a few games ago his shot looked more like a field goal attempt instead of a strike. I would love to think he pushes on from here but doing stuff like that does at the very least help with his value and it will be a future highlight reel/ quiz question in the future no doubt.
  18. If true will Howe admit hes been dropped or is the squad sickness bug a good excuse.

For all big Nick isnt working narrative and unfortunately is true I find it harder to let go of how bad wissa has been even with the limited preseason and injury which was now months ago.

I think both points can be fair though Froggy is right they bought well in the summer and have swung a fairly big points total in terms of top 6 points "deficit" in one window. It is also true the summer was a cluster fuck and we appear to bought poorly with a fairly sizeable pot of money. Its also true this summer will likely haunt us in terms of how we can approach future windows alot more than others clubs like manu who have more revenue and more clauses in players sold and more saleable assets to offset poor player recruitment. How fair that is well life isn't fair and likely not to change in terms of a fiscal rule change coming to save us. The biggest disappointment is we went 3 or 4 windows with no first team starter purchases but a new champions league campaign to capitalise on and right now it feels like we have blown it. Chelsea and manu have had poor league finishes in the last few years but have bounced back I dont think we are going to be as financially lucky. Again how fair that is, is probably the biggest debate but one with no answer other than we hope the poor performers do better and we improve and learn from this as a club.
  21. I think it will come down to the manner in which players go, the timing in which we do our business and the quality of signing we end up making, none of us want to see protracted stand offs on bidding for new players or trying to hold onto players who want to go like we did in the summer alot of which was covered better by others who point to lack of a senior level member to take this on. Players "wanting to go" and us getting the best deal for us while reinvesting the money "should be" business as usual but as you know following the rats antics its not that simple and depends when in the window and have we done a list of players we would bring in should that happen or not. Agree on the point about if we don't get Europe the squad doesn't in theory need to be as big should we find ourselves in one but the issue still remains if we "do less" this summer and keep the old players and renew some others and kick the can down the road come the summer of 27/28 we will have another set of out of contract players to replace along with any we want to go and any who we want to go eventually you need to back yourself to replace unless our academy can finally start to plug some of the gaps in our squad. If Trips doesn't stay we need competition for both sides of full back. Pope has a year come the summer and Ramsey shouldn't be kept for the fee needed so that mean we need a 1st choice goal keeper but really we need 2 (a youth prospect) as the others are basically never going to play. If we keep Tonali and its only Willock that goes that's a midfielder needed (assume we stick to 3 in the middle if we don't that money/squad place could go to a dedicated DM or a no.10 for instance) Our strikers arent working but it may be that only Osula attracts any attention so again thats a striker or similar to willock does it go on a more versatile player who can cover the front 3 or a no.10. If Schar doesnt stay thats RCB needed. so yes I think we need 4 or 5 just to "stand still" by that I dont mean don't improve the squad just in terms of bodies. If you were ruthless though you could start adding more players to that list you would let go should you get offers on.
  22. Unfortunately the club isn't going to get much respite this summer regardless (hopefully this time it wont all fall onto the managers shoulders). This summer we need to "fix what we broke" squad wise and also manage to move on players we don't want to keep and try and keep a hold of players we want to. Both of which we havent had a great track record on so easier said than done. will anyone come in for willock will vlach get his cut price move to Sevilla will tonali stay will tino stay will anyone else be poached should we get no Europe next season Do we plan ahead this summer for the squad all getting another year older players such as Murphy/BDB to an extent Joelinton I know we all mainly agree that we cant rip it up and start again in a single window but one of our biggest issues in kicking the can down the road on player decisions can leave you sometimes with too much to do in one go. While that can be a choice (worth more to us to keep than the fee you would get and the difference it would be to go into the market and buy a replacement) it does feel like a reset is coming partly by need as the league campaign hasn't been good enough and partly the older players cant stay forever.
  23. Dunno if it will help anyone but if you can be bothered dalton park adidas outlet and all physical outlet stores spend £100 save 40% They have mens last season away £31 and home strips £43. A very limited number of kids away and 3rd strip from last year for £9!! Those prices I quote are before the 40% off is applied too.
  24. No clue started off with dead leg then mentioned muscle issue so assume hes at risk of it tear so they being careful with it. I guess if it did tear would that mean surgery? so maybe thats why they saying hes at risk if being out for the season. Not medical at all just trying to piece ut together based on howe answers these questions.

Think he has already said he plays deep but I guess the thing is we dont play a 10 so hes been a left sided 8. Hes only done it for a few games now in replacement/cover for Joelinton query will be what does he do now Joe's fit. Is he rotation or does he start when fit if we are only still playing 3 in the middle is it Tonali plus 2 others or Tonali and big nick and 1 of ramsey/willock or Joelinton. I guess while we continue with the fixtures conjestion that decision may not be obvious if we need to rotate still.
