  1. You say this cause you don't understand the special position of this club. The people of the Midlands with all due respect are passive muppets who will put up with anything. If any owner or consortium wants a war we're perfectly capable of giving them one. Without the best wishes of the fans this club would disintegrate. I wasn't sure if you were joking until I saw

    UEFA Cup

Can you even BEGIN to imagine the endless media fawning if Spurs won the UEFA Cup? Honestly, I feel a bit sick just thinking about it. I thought they had a good chance before tonight, I wouldn't write them off yet either tbh. The shite thing about the Uefa cup is this is their 9th game in the competition this season and this is the first decent team they've met. Oh, I'm not writing them off for a nanosecond, regardless of whether or not they deserve to win it, just think about the wall to wall fucking fawnage if they did. I just thought about it accidentally for a second. I'm off to the bog now to vomit up my pancreas.
  3. There's no room for romanticism here, there is only one person who owns Newcastle United and that is Mike Ashley. You might all kid yourselves about it (as might the fans of any club, with that 'this is OUR club' shtick), but at the end of the day, you don't, he does. We used to tell Doug Ellis for years and years that he was ruining OUR club, but he wasn't, it was HIS club. He'd reply by saying he'd leave Villa Park in a coffin. He didn't go that far, but despite all the shit, he stayed until he wanted to leave. Quite clear who owned the club. These are now multi million pound businesses. We're becoming - sadly - about as much 'owners' of the clubs as we are 'owners' of Tesco or Asda, ie not at all.

    UEFA Cup

Come on Everton! All the way to the final. Firstly, I like to see them do well. Secondly, I want their fixture list and injury risk as volatile as possible.

    Strachan

He who laughs last... He hasn't had the last laugh yet.. there's still plenty of time for the hyper dwarf to f*** it up At least he knows which division his team will be playing in next season. Controversial.
  7. The 1990 WC semi final was the last time I cried in front of my parents. I was 22 at the time. I can't watch penalties (when I give a shit, obv), they're fucking unbearable.
  8. Tend to agree with you. Arsenal deserved to win tonight though. Absolutely they deserved to win. That doesn't mean I wanted them to, though. Milan were fucking gash. They should have watched the way we played the Arse on Saturday, the fucking amateurs. *cheeky rascal emoticon**

    Who is better?

Has there EVER been a program more improved than You've Been Framed when Harry Hill took it over? That and TV Burp are a fantastic 60 minutes of television.

    Who is better?

Ferguson. Although they're both whingeing, one-eyed bastards.
  11. This may sound curmudgeonly - in fact, it will, no "may" about it - but I don't see why any supporter of a club outside the big four should want any of those clubs to do well in the CL. All it does is extend the gap.
  12. Only football could conspire to produce such an usual travel experience as that.
  13. Speak to any Villa fan who went to see us play Bilbao in 1998, and they'll say exactly the same thing, that it was the best away trip ever, and that the people are the friendliest you'll meet, anywhere. Lots of friendships formed that day which endure still.

    Peter Crouch

I would be very unsurprised were Crouch to turn up back at the Villa this summer. I was told it was going to happen in January, but it didn't, but I can see it happening this summer.

Try ring back, its easier. What is this ringback thing of which you speak, Mick? What telephone company do you use? You can normally press a button on your phone if you ring an engaged number and it rings you both as soon as the line is free. BT. Never heard of that. Or "corn rows". Must be getting old.
  16. And in anticipation, here they are.... 1. Fantastic location on the river. Probably the best in the league. 2. No twats in their support. 3. Ground has an Archibald Leitch stand - football heritage there, staring you in the face. 4. Loads, LOADS of nice pubs in walking distance. 5. Walking through the park before the match on a crisp spring day. Lovely. 6. The Cottage in the corner of the ground. Lovely. 7. The neutral end - overflow to the away end, means you always get lots of support in there. 8. They sell Krispy Kreme in the away end. 9. They sell beer in the away end, and they use those people with backpacks so it is easy to get one. 10. Usually sold out, decent atmosphere. Now, let's hear 10 reasons for Boro.
  17. I can't believe anyone would want to bin Fulham. I can think of 10 reasons not to without even trying.

  19. Ignoring the temptation to bin Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal to make the PL more competitive, I would say Bin: Wigan, Bolton, Boro In: Wolves, West Brom, Forest.

We were much, much more entertaining under SBR. Aye. They are what i hoped we could be under SA. mackems.gif Is that you in your signature? No he never. He didn't get near touching the ball the cheeky little b******. One angle suggested he got the faintest of touches imo. I still don't think he touched it. I sit behind that goal and have a great view of the box. Good win for us today though. When do you play Pool mate ? The 30th mate. Huge, huge match. See also April 27th, Everton v Villa. I'm going to be punching redial the day those tickets go on sale. Although, in fairness, a lot of football to play between now and then. I'll be quite happy to see a gap develop between us and the teams behind us rather than worry about Everton or Liverpool ahead of us (and, to be honest, i still think your neighbours will take 4th). At least there is something worth watching in the PL this season.

Aye, don't you just hate those c**ts. Bernie Slaven harping on every night, on the "legends" phone-in about us going down. He want's to have another look at the table because if we're in the relegation battle, they certainly are. 3 of their next 4 games are v Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea away. Hope to god they go down. I think we're going to take Boro apart, I really do. Someone is due a thrashing, and have been for a while, and I think it could be them.
  23. I couldn't work anywhere that has a vending machine. It's one step away from a big gate with Arbeit Macht Frei written across it, and guards with barking Alsatians.
