I can guess whose head would be on the stamps.

I'd just like to say that Sean Bean is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. The gobby cunt. He even almost managed to spoil Ronin, the cunt.

I know, Dave, I was agreeing via the action of repetition (caused mainly by not bothering to read the post I was quoting properly tbh ).

I would, too. I wouldn't fancy going somewhere else I was going to spend half my time sat on my arse on the bench and the other half out of position.

Didn't he do the deal to buy the club overnight or something? Not a chance, have you seen Mort's CV? The guy is a top class M&A advisor, there is absolutely no way he would have advised Ashely to spend £133m without getting access to the books and being able to ascertain the debt position of the business. Given that it was an all cash deal, there wouldn't have been the pressure from a bank to get DD done but it would be truly amazing if he hadn't ascertained what the enterprise value of the business was before purchasing it. In that case, then, I summise that this entire story is a load of bollocks and not worth worrying about. I'm guessing that they've seen SA is slow in the transfer market, which leads to speculation about his relationship with MA, which is followed by problems at Sports Direct, which then leads people to the next natural assumption, that all is not sweetness and light at the club. Which incidentally also fires off those "Martins for sale" stories. A series of baseless assumptions.

Apparently, Radio Manchester are reporting this morning that he is signing for you. *wipes brow*

If KK were appointed DoF, I'd expect Allardyce to be gone within the year.
-
I would expect he's probably got involved for the same reasons Lerner did - have a bit of fun, probably make a bit of money too. Incidentally, according to a board member today, Randy Lerner has recently had the Villa badge tattooed on his ankle, which for us has proved beyond all doubt the soundness of his motives. I mean, have you seen how fucking shit our new badge looks?
-
I really can't see SA agreeing to have a director of football appointed above him. Especially coming from a new regime, it smacks of not quite trusting the manager. EDIT especially not someone who raises such emotion at the club as KK

*stares at story over and over again* *shakes head in disbelief*

I agree, I think Bendtner will be interesting to watch. My Blues supporting ... errrm .. acquaintances rate him very, very highly.

The actress Sarah Miles was known for drinking her own urine on a regular basis, believing it was good for her. The horrid old pissguzzler.

You're right about your forward line (if they can play together) but you won't finish 5th with that defence, that's a fact. You've got to give him a chance to get things right at the back, and it isn't necessarily going to happen overnight. I would not be surprised at all if Portsmouth finished above Newcastle, Villa, and Man City. Like it or not, they're further along the teambuilding road.

Still European football I suppose, which is a bigger stage. Know what you mean though, most of the teams we've played in recent years were tripe. When we played anyone half decent we went out. The UEFA Cup ain't bigger than the PL, not by a long way. But if they're coming to this league anyway they might still opt for a team in the Waffa than one not. See, that's what I'm not sure about any more, whether that would ever really be the deciding factor rather than, say, money, or whether they get to live in London or several other things. When you look at the ridiculous format these days, it is enough to think that any player with half a brain would think fuck it, it is best avoided. EDIT of course they wouldnt really go out of their way to avoid it, but you know what I mean. Probably.
-
That's exactly what I was thinking. He looks like he's taken that green shit he writes about all the time in the Observer to ludicrous levels and started eschewing meat, the stupid treehugger.
-
Are players really attracted by the prospect of playing in the UEFA cup these days? Serious question. The current format ruins it.

Portsmouth have the best defence by some way, I think. Ours is fucked - Mellberg is starting to look past it, Laursen is excellent but injury prone, Cahill is possibly not ready, Bouma is solid, but at RB there is a big, empty void, so worrying that I'm starting to pine for Aaron Hughes. GA last year being a starting point that is.... Everton conceded 36 goals only 9 more than the Champions. We only conceded 5 more than Everton did, but that is misleading. Incidentally, I checked out Soccerbase to see how many we'd conceded and noticed something odd about last year's table, check it out (I'd post the link, but you need to manually select the season) You scored more goals away? No, the fact that according to their table "Brazil" and "Chile" finished below Watford, check it out.

In fairness, Rangers are just as bad. Both clubs have a sizeable, bigoted element. I've only seen a Scottish club play at our place once, and that was Rangers in 1976. A quick glance at the first few pages of this thread will give you an idea of what it was like: http://www.heroesandvillains.info/discuss/viewtopic.php?t=13346

I think Milner would be best on the right wing. Our right wing.

Yes, we struggled immensely at the end of last season, that is if you call a nine match unbeaten run including three away wins "struggling immensely". Joking apart, I think we'll finish more or less in the same area of the table as you will (although, obv, for the purposes of our wager, I mean above you), but I don't see how MON needs another year to get it right, but SA is going to get it right in his first year - that's a massive ask of any manager. I think you could probably take Newcastle, Villa, Portsmouth, West Ham, Everton and possibly Citeh, pick a random order and stand a very good chance of getting it right. One thing is for sure we both need to improve our goalscoring. Funny thing is, at the start of this window, i was worried about our strikers. Now I've thought about it, i'm not really (so long as Harebrain stays off the pitch, I think Luke Moore and Agbonlahor plus Carew will do well), but I am more worried about our defence. Much work needed.

re sharing a ticket... We've moved to cards for this season, too, after a trial in part of the Holte End last year. This is what happens with ours - if you can't make a match, you call the club who will send you a paper ticket for your seat for the match in question, and your card gets deactivated for that game. You then give that ticket to the sharer. So, in fact, it is every bit as easy to share tickets.
