  1. I think the Ref must have forgotten to take his cards on to the pitch with him. I was amazed nobody was booked. It's not like there weren't any yellow card offences committed. Barton kept giving the ball away. He was also often in the middle of the pitch when he was supposed to be on the right wing. No wonder West Ham's attacks kept coming down our right hand side. Simpson was on his own most of the time as Barton tried to get back. Having said that, two good crosses from Barton.
  2. Send him to prison. At least that way it will stop him killing any innocent people with his frequent drink driving. He's been caught doing it twice (if not more) so Christ knows how many times he's done it when he hasn't been caught. I thought he'd be sectioned under the mental health act after the Barry Moat incident.
  3. Is that a huge tattoo on Bale's left thigh?
  4. I'd play Ameobi up front with Carroll. Ameobi gets dropped after having a good game (Chelsea in the cup) whereas players who have a bad game keep their place in the team. Give Ameobi a run in the team. The problem is a lot of our fans have him down as a scapegoat so they are always on his back. Carroll could do with the support of another striker.

  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9055632.stm Yes it's been a cracker of a day for Newcastle!

  8. Interviews are up now on http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9040924.stm Hughton describes the ref penalty decisions as diabolical. If the FA fine him for that he might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb and just call the ref and his assistants incompetent or corrupt.
  9. West Ham still trying to get a new ground for free: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/9049904.stm
  10. Suspected broken collarbone according to the BBC. People are crazy if they think it's good news, considering Forster is on a season long loan at Celtic. Baptism of fire for Krul.
  11. I think it's laughable that some people imply a 'better' keeper (Krul in their eyes) would have saved Wolves' goal. Each time it was shown on TV it was describe as a fantastic strike. I suppose Krul would definitely have saved it wouldn't he?
  12. I think the last few days of the transfer window will be mega busy. All the players who want first team action but aren't in the 25 man squad, all the youngsters on the fringe of the first team for the top clubs, etc. There may not be a lot of cash buys but I'll be surprised if there aren't a lot of loans. There doesn't seem to have been that much business done yet apart from that done by the usual big clubs.
  13. how can people want to buy Blackburn and not us? Maybe the reason an Indian businessman is interested in buying Blackburn has something to do with Blackburn's large Asian population? I'll believe the purchase when it happens. Look at Liverpool. Two weeks ago the Chinese government was buying Liverpool FC. What's happening now? It reminds me of when we supposedly had South African, American, Middle East, Far East and Nigerian consortium trying to buy us.
  14. Nobody (who has the actual cash to do so) wants to buy NUFC so for better or worse we are stuck with Mike Ashley.
  15. Harper has seemed sluggish in pre-season, he's not getting any younger and I can certainly see him being replaced before the season's out unless he bucks his ideas up. It makes me laugh when people mention Harper's age. Keepers are usually older than the outfield players. David James is 40 and still playing. Young keepers are the exception rather than the rule.
  16. Stay up. Goals will be a problem for all the teams in and around us. Apart from the top 8 (Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Everton) most of the rest could finish almost anywhere between 9th and 20th. Can we finish ahead of three from Blackpool, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, West Brom, Bolton, etc? I think we should be able to.
  17. I never understood why people thought not spending money on official Newcastle United related products, tickets, etc and boycotting Sports Direct would help get rid of Mike Ashley. If people want rid of him, buy official NUFC stuff and shop at Sports Direct. He is never going to leave until he has at least broken even. Having said all that, I definitely think it's a case of "better the devil you know" for us NUFC fans when it comes to Mike Ashley. Liverpool are for sale (at an admittedly ridiculous reported price of £800m + £200m debt) and there is no news on anyone buying them. Nobody is queuing up to buy NUFC and pump their own money in.
  18. Can you see where the goals are going to come from for Blackpool, West Brom, Wolves, Bolton, Wigan, West Ham, etc?

  21. Based on the NUFC Statement and media reports that there will be "no capital outlay" on new players it makes me wonder why we are bothering sending Carr and his scouting team to watch players.
