I haven't read Rooney's comments but if an opposition player came out and voiced that he'd love to be the one who scored the goal that sent NUFC down I'd be angry. He may think that but there is no need to tell the media that. Rooney may be in for some tasty challenges from Liverpool players, to go with the dodgy ones he usually does himself (and gets away with apart from in Europe).

Good news but I don't think the back 4 has been the problem. I don't think switching Taylor for Beye will make a huge difference (although I'll be happy to be proved wrong). The midfield is what lets us down through lack of ball retention and lack of creativity.
-
Agree with that. If the team can't beat crap like Hull, Stoke, etc. they can't complain if they get relegated.
-
We absolutely must beat Hull. A draw is not good enough and a defeat is a disaster. Even if we do win, Hull will still be 1 point ahead of us. The only plus is that the teams fate is still currently in their own hands. We aren't relying on other teams doing us a favour until we slip below 17th place.

Will his battle cry before the last Premiership game of the season be "Tonight we dine in the Championship!"
-
Viduka being reasonably fit would never happen and I couldn't see him wanting to stay if we were relegated (unless it was on the same insane wages which it wouldn't be).
-
Still better value than Luque. For better or worse, under the Ashley regime the days of buying the likes of Owen and paying those sort of wages are over.

I wish I could assume we stay up. If we do I'm not encouraged by the possibility of Kinnear continuing as manager. I'd love to know who the "top managers" applying for the job were when Lambias said it at that meeting with the fans (unless he was just quoting Shepherd for a laugh). Getting rid of people like Viduka doesn't bother me as he never plays. Cacapa will be no loss and who knows if they'll bother to keep Edgar. Owen is too expensive for what he brings to the team. I'd rather we kept struggling to stay up than get relegated. Ashley has implemented some good ideas. I'd hate for us to get relegated and lose the likes of Bassong.

It's funny now but hopefully it won't end up with the Police accidentally doing a 'Jean Charles de Menezes' on you.
-
If you look at our fixtures we are in a knock out competition with our rivals down the bottom. To use the old cliché, every game against them is a cup final.
-
The way Man U have dragged out buying Tevez I doubt they're keeping him. Tevez isn't worth the reported £32m he would cost. That's one of the reasons I could see Man U going for Owen when he is free.
-
I think he's retired from World Cup, European Cup and possibly FA Cup matches but not Premiership games.
-
I don't want to depress people but in 28 games we've won 6 games (4 at home and 2 away). I don't see why people think we are going to suddenly start beating the teams we should be beating now when we haven't done it during the rest of the season. Our last win was against West Brom on February 7th. You have to go back to December 21st for the one before that when we beat Tottenham. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
-
The form of the teams below us was a reason some people used to say we won't go down. Well they have started to get the odd win. We have a feeble win rate. Draws won't save us. The infuriating thing about Newcastle is we can give 'the best team in the world' a hard game after losing to Bolton. The shitty results to the lower lights of the Premier League (which has always been a Newcastle trait) is what may doom us. We must beat Hull.
-
Is it not a form of euthanasia he's suggesting? We're suffering so put us out of our misery by administering Newcastle United with a dose of the deadly Graeme Souness as manager to speed up the death process.
-
As a glimmer of hope, from what I saw of the Man U Vs Tottenham final, I didn't think Man U played very well.

Ashley wouldn't have to pay off Kinnear, he just doesn't have to extend his contract beyond the end of the season. If Ashley gives Kinnear an extended contract he obviously doesn't give a toss about season ticket sales. The wonderful Lambias comment "you've seen worse football" was one of his reasons for the fans to stick with them. The future looks shite.

Don't believe it. It doesn't make any sense, especially now when we are starting to get all our strikers back from injury (only Owen is out at the moment).
-
Sort of tackles the 'lack of ambition' accusation by saying he wanted to be loaned out or sold but Newcastle valued him highly both in money (more than other clubs were willing to pay for a keeper who rarely played) and as a keeper.

If Beckham really wants to move from LA Galaxy to AC Milan why doesn't he just pay the difference between LA Galaxy's valuation of him and what AC Milan have offered them himself? What's £10m to £12m to Beckham?
