He sounds like a normal adult, which is a quality I’m valuing more and more in footballers.
  2. To each his own, but I am personally opting out of the “policing our players’ instagram likes” part of the fan experience.
  3. It’s shady as fuck but holy crap if you’re betting real money on fucking Romano tweets you need to get your life in order.
  4. Longevity is a skill as well. Isak’s had essentially a one-season peak at this point, and he’s got a long way to go before he can prove that he can be as consistently good as Shearer was for anything remotely close to as long.

Just imagine the scenes in this thread if we missed the deadline. Would have to shut down the board for a week.
  6. I’d bet on this guy bottling his next match at SJP and feigning injury to avoid having to face the crowd.

What we’ve done this window is establish a genuine, CL-quality foundation that we can build upon going forward. We won’t have to do major surgery on this squad for a while now. All we need to do is replace players who are sold or aging out while keeping our powder dry for genuinely transcendent talent if the opportunity arises.

Shola was a materially better player than striker Joelinton
  9. To simplify things a bit, we’ve essentially traded Isak for Woltemade, Wissa, and Thiaw. Liverpool got the best player in the exchange, but I’d bet on the three collectively to outvalue Isak over the next few seasons any day.

Absolutely majestic but very short peaks for all of them.

To be fair to them, I have unforgettable happy memories of all of Martins, Carroll, and Cisse (sorry, not you Dwight Gayle). Basically every number nine since Shearer has had incredibly high highs coupled with absolute horseshit lows.

Obafemi Martins, Andy Carroll, Papis Cisse, Dwight Gayle, and the striker version of Joelinton have all worn it in recent years. If he maintains his Brentford form, Wissa will be a better player than all of those. The 9 shirt isn’t a sign that you’ve already made it, it’s an opportunity to show that you’re worthy.

I’m having lunch with the wife and I had to explain why I was being so anxious the whole time
  14. If a deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. Content for him to be our third striker.

Leaving anyway now would be the true power move by Glasner

We’ve signed five other players this summer I think we know what a deal sheet is

Funniest outcome would be both Isak and Wissa deals off because Liverpool fucked up the paperwork. (Funny, not good).

If there was any kind of drama in this there would be some reporting by now.
  19. Can we have a mutual agreement that we won’t lose it and push this thread back to the top every time he scores a goal this season?
  20. Sometimes good players will want to leave for bigger clubs and there’s absolutely nothing we could have done with Isak that will change that. We replace them and keep building.
  21. We have the money to bring in two exciting first team signings next summer now that we’ve sold Isak and properly refreshed the squad. Just need to make sure they don’t reject us for Man United
  22. Finally realized they put the “.” In the wrong spot on their bid sheet.

At the end of the day him being a dick to Brentford doesn’t matter all that much to us because he’s older and we’re going to be the biggest club he ever plays for. I’m happy that we have someone who will consider his time with us to be the pinnacle of his career.
