  1. Yeah he can get out by never coming back to Korea until he's over 36. Wouldn't want to for obvious reasons

    Dimitar Berbatov

Close the forum over the summer I say! In fact, let's just close the whole thing down and only open it for matchdays. That'll stop the rumors.

    Dimitar Berbatov

We "might" be signing the Premier League's top scorer for 7.5 million pounds, and some people are turning their noses up on it. Seriously, just stop. He won't be coming either way, but still, just stop.
  4. Would be a decent coup this. But what is this? For how long would he be missing? "[...]he still has to complete military service in his home country unless he wins a medal at the 2012 Olympics." <The "Park Chu-Young National Service Status" summary> Basically, the guy needs to go to the military. He's got three options. (1) He can go back to Korea and play for our Army team for two years. Our Army team plays in the first division so it's still a reasonably high standard of football. Players can only apply for the Army team before their 28th birthday, so he would have to return to Korea for two years after completion of the 2012/2013 season. (2) Alternatively, he could play for the Police Force team for two years instead. The Police Force team accepts players until their 30th birthday, so he could continue his career in Europe up to the 2014/2015 season. However, the Police Force team plays in our second division so once he's released at 32 years of age he's probably done as a top-level player. (3) The final option is to just sit on it and see out his career, and then go enlist as a soldier for two years just like everybody else. Trust me, you do not want to enlist as a soldier in the ROK Armed Forces at 35 years of age. It sucks. Bad. This isn't really an option. (4) Well, I guess he could just go and win a medal at the London Olympics, securing a legal exemption. Good luck with that. And yes, this situation is ridiculous and does suck.

Basically some people just have a checklist. 1) Plays in England? Check. 2) Over 25? Check. OMG le TERRIBLE SIGNING!

    Joey Barton

And what does that idiot's horrific managerial ability got to do with Joey Barton? Ronaldo, the archetypal Newcastle fan: Hates Shearer, hates Keegan, hates Shola, hates anyone who might get him some more attention More like the archetypal internet troll. Ronaldo would find a way to cast aspersions over Sir Bobby if he hadn't passed away.
  7. At this rate the entirety of European football will be owned by the Sheikhs within ten years.
  8. Okay, pretty bad analogy given that it would be hard for us to be any less pleased about that deal than we already are
  9. I sympathize. We'd be pretty pissed if Carroll went off and signed for Atletico Madrid or something.
  10. Watching the SPL and Scottish football has made me realize that being born a football fan in South Korea might not be the worst thing in the world after all.
  11. Dog meat is so good, I consider not eating it to be barbaric. It's really sound the way they torture the dog to death like. Right, because you westerners treat your cattle so humanely. I've no problems at all with people eating dogs. Seems a bit unnecessary to go absolutely our of your way to make the animal suffer as painful a death as is possible though. Cattle farmers in Ireland don't tend to that, to the best of my knowledge. I'm just saying that it's rather hypocritical for foreigners to frown on our alleged treatment of livestock canines given the practices that the meat industry is known to engage in globally. But if you're saying that your problem is unethical treatments of animals in general rather than dogs in specific, I don't disagree. It's been made difficult for us to regulate these alleged practices though, because our government kow-towed to pressure from foreign activist groups two decades ago and outlawed something that has been a natural part of our culture for hundreds of years. It's all black market now and therefore impossible to police. Whole things a disgrace really.

  14. Dave's first birthday Present to his children would be a long, serious discussion of their funeral options.
  15. I'd honestly love to know how I could get to work there, as working in football administration would be one of my dream jobs. I suppose they just come offer you a job if you're old, overweight, and corrupt?
  16. Momentarily abandoning all common sense/grasp on reality, I'd certainly love for us to have Berbatov. He's one of my favorite players and his style of play is absolutely beautiful to look at sometimes. Some of his first touches just make me want to
  17. Based on? I'm afraid someone's already beat you to being a cunt, Ronaldo. Based on what exactly?

    Gervinho

To be fair, they clearly have a far better squad than us in the status quo. It's just that given their situation they're not likely to get any better in the short term (although at the same time, they're probably not liable to get any worse.) We're more of a crapshot.
  19. Blatantly just made-up quota-filling shit. The club wouldn't want him. He wouldn't want us.

    Sebastian Larsson

If he's better in that position than everyone save Barton, that means he's basically better than Ryan Taylor , Guthrie on the right, or Kazenga Lua Lua. That doesn't sound impressive to me at all.
  21. Press over here claim that Monaco are willing to let him go for what they paid. Think he's only got a year left on his contract too. I think he'd fit in great as the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 as it's the position he plays for south Korea, with the caveat that the majority of our goals would need to be coming from Ben arfa or gervinho or whoever ends up playing right behind him. National service complications probably make this a non-starter though. I can't see our board being willing to bring in a player with any sort of significant uncertainty in his future.
  22. His goal rate isn't great, but decent player, maybe if we miss out on Gervinho rather than Gamerio. Bah, it's not going to happen. God doesn't love me that much.
  23. If only there was another decent striker from a French side willing to sell, maybe a relegated one... who we could pick up for cheap, probably around 3m... http://cfs15.tistory.com/image/30/tistory/2008/11/03/01/58/490ddc354da98
  24. Plenty of decent strikers out there, no need to get too fixated on this one.
  25. For me the Championship Playoff Finals is the most exciting match of the year for a neutral. Beats the CL finals by a mile.
