    Kinnear Out

Paranoid. Nah, you're fine mate, I just don't agree with you on anything. You couldnt agree with me pre-99, cos you know nowt about it. Which is why I don't talk about it.
  2. We only really have Barton, Guthrie, and Nolan in there ahead of Butt. That's only three players. I'd prefer around 12.

  4. Absolutely looking forward to seeing how this Vuckic lad does.
  5. On the topic of scum players, Steed Malbranque would be absolutely perfect for us.

Ah, the "old timers" one-two punch.
  7. I find it hard to believe that a player like Shay Given would be so insecure about his abilities that he wouldn't think he could get a move to a decent Premiership club five months down the road. He's ditched us like a rat on a sinking ship, pure and simple.
  8. Good for you that you find wisdom in blowing more money than we got for Shay Given on a mediocre player in a position we do not need. where did i say that? im saying that nearly every player we're linked with is "not good enough for us" despite us demanding new players. just an observation. It's not a matter of good or bad, he's in the wrong position. There really would have been no point.

I'm sorry, don't take this personally, but you're a fucking idiot. The question has been answered at least once every two pages on this thread because people like you think they're being smart by being the first to mention it. You're not. It's been discussed. Over and over and over again. Check back a couple of pages on this thread if it's really an answer you want. Or perhaps you may direct yourself to the "post-Kinnear appointments" thread that was made specifically to stop people from asking this question.
  11. Isn't he a left winger? Didn't we already have too many of those? Maybe it's a good thing we didn't sign anyone on deadline day if this was the alternative.
  12. Every other club in the Premiership must be rubbing their hands in delight at one more year against a midfield featuring Nicky Butt. Or is that every club in the Championship.
  13. I'm not even going to imagine what I would do if JFK signs his contract. The fact that he could be leaving at the end of the season is the only sort of "hope" of any kind I have remaining for the club.

    Kinnear Out

Seriously, this is a wind up, right?
  15. he's hit some downright amazing through balls into the middle. Just seem to be his crossing once he's gotten deep that's lacking. He's at best when he can run in from deep and divest himself of the ball with a smart through pass without having to get too close to the box himself. The reason we see him so often running into blind alleys these days is that we don't have Oba or Owen running into space for him.
  16. As far as I know he's still with Turkey.
  17. I understand that there's a lot of sympathy for Mowbray's "style of football," but I've never found him particularly impressive. Then again, I tend to be biased against managers who shaft my countrymen.
  18. Because until he gets the job and either fails or succeeds, no manager can ever be safe here. Until we know for a 100% certainty that Shearer is not up for the job, his name will always be first for some reason. I disagree. Now that Shepherd's gone (he always had a personal thing for the idea which undermined Robson to one degree or another), he only comes up because things are going badly here. A manager enjoying success will be safe - it's just that we've not had one of them for a while. I have to confess ignorance about the good times. My knowledge of the club is pretty much just Souness-Kinnear. I always feel sorry for you when this comes up. Its like a child born only in the wake of an apocalyptic nuclear war That's a hell of a way to put it. I also started following this club seriously about a week before Sir Bobby was sacked. Great timing
  19. I agree, it's a huge problem that we're talking about Newcastle on this Newcastle discussion board. Based on your argument I could start a thread asking people what they think Nicky Butts favourite colour is? It's still related but ultimately irrelevant. I just don't see the point making threads when the same stuff is being talked about in numerous other threads. Don't take it personally. That analogy makes no sense at all and I think you're just being a tit for no reason. Not taken personally at all, of course.
  20. I agree, it's a huge problem that we're talking about Newcastle on this Newcastle discussion board.
  21. Good point, I'm gonna change it. Would be out for murder if that happened to me.
  22. It's been talked about scattershot in a bunch of other threads for weeks now. Might as well have its own.
  23. Because if we value our survival, replacing Kinnear is a matter of when, not a matter of if. Because even if Kinnear somehow saves us from relegation he sure as f***ing hell better be gone by the summer. Because I really just can't be bothered with the "who would come to us if we sacked Kinnear?" questions anymore. If we were to sack Joe Kinnear (hopefully in the very near future) who would you want as his successor? For arguments sake, let's assume that Dennis Wise is sacked and there won't be any issues over whether the new manager could work within "the system." Let's only talk about the inherent qualities of the managers here, you can discuss the incompetence of our boardroom elsewhere. Trespassers making posts to the effect of "Who we appoint won't matter without an owner who backs their manager" will be shot. Some ideas, by order of preference: Steve Bruce: For obvious reasons Fatih Terim: Top coach. Keen on returning to club management. Has expressed interest in the past. And I just love Turks for no reason in particular. Aidy Boothroyd: Was once the "next big thing" in English management, has a lot to prove now. Could we give him a shot at redemption? Roberto Martinez: I honestly know absolutely nothing about the bloke, but people seem to think it's a good idea Alan Shearer: Because this discussion can't be had without his name coming up. Temuri Ketsbaia:
  24. Sounds like we need a dose of... Sexy Football!
  25. Bruce would certainly be a better appointment, but I feel like there would be some difficulty to come. If he is available he really should be on the top of our list. As for Shearer, while the appointment of "former legends" can often backfire (cf. Tony Adams, Gareth Southgate, Roy Keane, and Paul Ince) there's just this intangible feeling I have with Shearer... That voice in my head that's telling me "don't be daft, how could Alan Shearer possibly fail? There's just something about the man and the way he carries himself that makes me think he's destined for success, whatever he chooses to do. I suppose that's precisely the kind of sentimentality that's going to land us in trouble.
