This. I've never got the impression he looks down on the city, it was merely an observation. Anyway, he was right, it is like a goldfish bowl ....in the city centre anyway.. But that's one of the reasons why we all love it. He does come across slightly twatty on the TV though so I doubt he will be missed by many people.

Like I say, maybe I don’t watch enough football. And Palace are definitely a club I avoid watching as they are an absolute nothing club on every level. And their home atmosphere is easily the most irritating in the league, which makes the TV experience insufferable, so if they are on the TV I definitely switch the channel. So yeah, it’s not that surprising that I don’t know much about Guehi. But I still have no recollection of his name being mentioned by anyone I know, before the Euros. I can’t help but get Stephane Guivarch vibes over this one, I’m afraid.
-
They didn’t have FFP to contend with though. I’m not convinced by this one at all. Maybe I don’t watch enough football but before the Euros I hadn’t even heard of him. And in the Euros he didn’t stand out as anything special for me whatsoever. It does like he is now going to be coming here though so I will be delighted to be proven wrong.

I started going to away matches on my own when I was 15. When I look at 15 year olds these days it's unfathomable to me that I was doing that at their age. Literally trusted by my parents to go to the other end of the country on my own, on the supporters club buses, in the age of football hooliganism too. And I never got into any scrapes at all, although there were a few hairy moments at some places.

Literally the summer that changed of course of history for NUFC. Without KK’s arrival that summer the current era wouldn’t be happening. The most important person in the club’s history, no question. I never tire of watching this goal. I was just slightly too young to have been there but I have stood on those Gallowgate terraces a lot. And even though there have been some packed in crowds on there in my time, I don’t think they were ever as jammed tight as they looked on the day of KK’s debut. I’d love to know how many were squashed into the Gallowgate that day.

What was the atmosphere like yesterday then? It sounded pretty good on the TV highlights, and obviously the red card incident stoked everything up, but did the ability for people to chose their own seats again make a difference?

I went on Saturday night and was really impressed with it. There was a Queen tribute band playing and, although cringing a bit at first, I was singing along with everyone else after several pints. The Brian May impersonator looked like he belonged more in Doctor and The Medics mind.

Yeah lets only have a 60k stadium when Man U plan to go to 100k. FFS the lack of foresight on here is staggering at times when it comes to this issue.

We aren't moving out of the city centre. It's the one absolute you can count on.

New away shirt has got us in GQ magazine. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/newcastle-united-adidas-third-kit I bought one a few days ago and it’s even nicer in the flesh. Also bought the training pants which are equally nice. I had to go a size up from my normal fit mind, which basically felt like I was wearing leggings. And I am pretty slim.

Not really. The Gate and its associated bars are all part of the Bigg Market circuit. Stack is a 2 minute walk from The Gate so I can see it being a new starter bar for that circuit.
-
New Stack looks great I think. I’d wager that it makes a lot of its money by becoming part of the Friday/Saturday night Bigg Market/Gate drinking circuit.
-
That would be horrific as a football stadium. Ugly as sin and absolutely not conducive for atmosphere.
-
I so badly want to read something into this. Have said it on here many times that the Bernabeu is the best football stadium in the world and absolutely should be the template for our new stadium, should we be getting one.

Either this lot are truly ITK with regards to Gordon, or they are properly clutching at straws to see him make the switch to Klanfield. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-hand-liverpool-unintended-transfer-29683051

I couldn't agree more. But until I see concrete evidence of the radical new stadium development then I'm holding my tongue in the gloating department.
-
As has been discussed in the SJP thread, the Saudi's intentions for ground redevelopment will tell us if the Mackems will be able to have their dreams come true. Personally, mainly due to witnessing 40 years of false dawns & various let downs, I'm on the fence & will refrain from gloating at them for the time being.
-
Said it the other day. Walking around SJP on a non-matchday you realise just how grotty & dated it is. And that's just the exterior. As people have already said, it's the location that makes the home of NUFC special. Building a new stadium 200 yards north of the current location is not going to make that location any less special. In fact, incorporate the new stadium into a new-look Leazes park and the new location could look incredible if done right. It's time to make the move. If the Saudis put that move to Leazes Park on the table, and the fanbase somehow reject it, then they wont be here for the long term.
-
I had a walk around the entire stadium yesterday with a friend who was visiting from abroad. Fucking hell the exterior of the car park behind the Leazes end is in a shambolic state. Scruffy as fuck and green stains all over the place, it was actually pretty embarrassing to witness. The place needs a massive, massive exterior upgrade at the very least as the whole stadium just looks generally tired & dated.

This isn't even an exaggeration. Second only to Kevin Keegan.
-
Incredible that people are actually believing that shit isnt it. Anything to soften the blow of us possibly being prepared to let a crown jewel go. I'd actually be more worried if that is what they actually have done today.
-
Something is definitely starting to look suspiciously off. This being NUFC, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we were back up for sale within the next 18 months.
-
The debate to be had here is not whether or not any deal happens, it’s whether we are actually looking to sell. If it is conclusively revealed that we are, and to a supposed rival in the same league, then they have no idea of how badly that will be received. The optics of this are just horrendous, regardless of how much truth there is in it.
-
Selling this lad would be every bit as bad as the day when Waddle/Beardsley/Gascoigne/Carrol were allowed to leave. In fact it would be worse in some ways, since we are now supposed to be one of the league’s most powerful clubs. Regardless of whether the story has any truth in it, this is a staggeringly bad look for NUFC. Makes you wonder if these owners are now seriously revising their ambitions and intentions.

Forgetting the actual football team for one moment, never thought I’d consider buying anything Engerland related, but that Nike Tech Fleece hoodie/jogger combo all of the players are wearing for the media briefings is tempting. Really nice colour and the quality/comfort looks really good too.
