  1. As much as I'd like a change I can't see him getting sacked after this. Two points dropped, but narrative will be we picked up injuries. I bet we get a story this week about a senior player bust up based on that post match interview. It's been brewing for a few days - Dubravka, Darlow, Ritchie or Lascelles to be named in it.
  2. The difference between Lascelles and Bruce was the player covered the team aspects of in this together and didn't really respond to that question whereas Bruce deflected the communication onto Ritchie and then mentioned the cross not being blocked and the keeper thinking they should save it. If this is the direction he is taking the players will hang him out to dry when the defeats come.
  3. Overall not a terrible performance, but Willock and Joelinton have to score from 18 yards out. Our inability to get the ball into the box on a number of occasions and finish from inside the box has resulted in two points dropped. Disappointing to pick up the injuries though - we don't have enough quality in reserve which will result in a drop in form. Surely it can't be a coincidence the amount of injuries and decrease in performance from the 60 minute mark for a number of players?
  4. Nothing appeared on the TV, would imagine it was looked at. It hit around the t-shirt sleeve mark so probably grounds for he couldn't do anything to prevent it hitting his arm.
  5. He could have done better with their goal, but overall a decent performance. I just hope Bruce isn't picking the team for the next fixture and goes back with Darlow.
  6. The pundits are atrocious. I'd rather watch/listen to three members off here breakdown the performance and the post match interviews. I vote samptime29, Nobody and MiggysFirstGoal for the next match...painful watching Jenas there!
  7. I was 7 now a 9 unless we change the manager.
  8. He needs to be dropped - offers nothing at all. He won't be dropped because we've not got the players to come in and replace him. The club is a joke.

    Jamal Lewis

Posted during West Ham game that it was comforting to have an actual left back in the side. However you can see he has regressed being involved with us which is probably due to coaching and a lack of confidence. He rarely attempts to beat his man moving forward and often cuts back inside or a pass back. Throw ins he gets no support or movement from other players so often looks like he is wasting it. Bruce should just stick Dummett in to hoof the ball upfield...it's the best we can hope for.
  10. Would love the takeover to come to fruition, but a relegation surely would reduce the price beyond what Ashley would want. I think it's clear this is part of a wider push to enhance his business globally and enter new markets especially if the high street is decimated due to the pandemic. The amount of companies that have been bought by those with only an online presence recently might have gave him a bit of a kick up the backside. As for the club - he should have involved someone that knows football because we're heading for relegation unless there is a change coming with echos to the McClaren season should we lose the next 2-3 games.
  11. If only we had opted for Denzel Dumfries instead...
  12. For a bottom of the league club he hasn't really proven to be consistently good and not even sure he is good enough as a back up. Could imagine he was near the end of the options list when the club were looking at signings.
  13. It was a tough watch to get through the 90 minutes, but couple observations. It became apparent in the first half that Chelsea would have success attacking our right hand side and realistically we didn't do anything to counter that. The team shape often got disjointed, but most likely due to Chelsea passing through us - however it started from our own high press on occasions. It looked like Willock and Almiron were often the front two, but this left our right side exposed once they bypassed our attack on the counter. Gayle on the right side didn't work and neither did the long ball forward as Rudiger was often there first. Chelsea were just too good for us - however concern is this new style is just going to be the only way we play as opposed to thinking about the opposition. The concern would be that we're just not good enough and any injury heightens that such as losing Wilson and to an extent Manquillo who has had a decent season so far.
  14. Just from watching that interview - he needs to go. You can't say you'll change things then relay that you've played this formation in 50% of the previous games. You can't say it was unexpected after the first half and infact this performance was not unexpected at all. You can't lay this all on one player now as arguably our most attacking threat being missing hence the results. We've been "working hard" for months now and funnily enough perfromances have got worse, let's have optional training because that seems to have worked a treat. He is a joke and we will be relegated if he is left in charge.

    Joelinton

Cut our losses and sell him.
  16. Defeat against Villa might see him go - would leave 7 days of the window to try to stop this run of defeats. It's shameless - nothing about the style of play changed today. He is full of bluster and has no attacking ability - we won't score more than 10 goals the rest of this season if this continues.
  17. The full team was poor yesterday, but it's partly how we're setup. Another poster has mentioned that both Shelvey and Longstaff drop deep so we essentially have a 4 - 2 - 2 - 2, which limits any attacking options. The amount of long forward balls that were wasted after passing it around in our own half was appalling. He's prone to errors and has too much time on the ball which leads to a turnover in possession - I'm not sure if it's because when he first came into the team he kept it simple and was more pass/move? He isn't a terrible player, but his development has stalled and it's due to a lack of quality in the team. The only thing he is developing is bad habits that are leading to us conceding goals.
  18. I wonder if the timeline reference for a takeover is in relation to the overall strategic review Masters has indicated would take place in March 2021. There is no way these Big 6 proposals did not have any influence on the Premier League decision making - would love for an exclusive story to break indicating there had been pressure exerted on the PL regarding the takeover or we wait for this to come out in the subject access request through the courts.
  19. A strong start to the season for a number of teams that were in and around the bottom last year. Strange season so far, but have to hope those currently in the bottom four get marooned and don't go on a run.
  20. I'd take Hendrick off and put Hayden on - every time they're finding space between the defence and midfield with Walcott usually running at our CBs. Wilson is isolated up top, we need Longstaff, Maximin and Almiron to press in a more organised manner. Murphy is confident, but headless - literally no need to run into dead space.
  21. Gordon B Stein. Interesting twitter thread on August 14th from @sportingminute "Wor Fund thread"
  22. Would love to see some of the inner conversations between these 'key stakeholders'. I know independent authorities were mentioned along with our takeover, but I think the overall games needs it.
  23. Performance was better than Brighton - still have habits which enable other team to grow into the game. You could tell within minutes in the second half that Burnley would score, it felt similar to West Ham at home last season where we then went and scored straight away. I'm not sure if it is a lack of concentration but it is frustrating. Saint Maximin and Wilson will hopefully be a good link up, but I felt Lewis, Saint Maximin and Joelinton did well during the first half. There is a pattern of play to our game, but it revolves around playing the ball backwards. It has been picked up on here, but the centre of the pitch offer little creativity going forward and contributes to our minimal shots on target. It would be ideal if we could get a loan deal arranged to get a bit more competition into the middle - unless he moves Hendrick into a central role soon.
