I think after Arsenal we have a good set of games at the start of December to pick up points, if we play like we play like today.
-
Just showed the players leaving the field on BBC, looked like Martins was extremely gutted.
-
Sunderland have scored in the 3rd minute of injury time.
-
Tugay finishes it off, Beye let it go.
-
4 minutes added time. Seem to be making a few wrong decisions at the crucial moment.
-
Bob Moncur's MoTM is Oba Martins.

Also the chance that Pattison will end up at Norwich permanently. "Matty Pattison is probably the only one we have an agreement on, or a potential agreement on, staying longer with a view to a permanent deal, depending how things go. That was at the request of Newcastle. We were quite happy to go with that."

When we did the round of applause for the Champions a few seasons ago I bet you were sick. How about when Kluivert got a massive reception after a 3-0 win over Newcastle?

Well, I have went to a few games, not today because of work, but am in the "give him time" camp. Liverpool and Portsmouth are good, established sides in recent seasons. Newcastle have only recently have a massive overhaul in the Summer. The reality is that the situation has become desperate. In recent seasons we have lost 2-1 to Fulham at home under Roeder, lost 4-1 against Fulham under Souness and add in a few more poor encounters with mid/lower table sides. I think under Robson and Keegan we were spoiled for football - flair, creativity and excitement a regular occurence at St. James' Park (4-3 Man Utd in 01/02) one of the best games I remember. My other theory is that with the continual influx of foreign coaches into the Premier League and "negative" football (possession play) that it has become difficult to play like we did in the Keegan and Robson years with gung ho style. Allardyce knows this and is trying to mould a team together in his own productive style. Maybe it was one of the reasons Bolton generally did well against the big teams like Chelsea under Mourinho? Just a thought.

W. F. Shepherd Could you name a Geordie 11?

I watched the secong half after work and after a minute could see we would not going to win this game. They mentioned that Given could have been sent off, but that would have been incredibly harsh after seeing a replay of it. It should have been worse, but Torres finishing was poor. He makes a difference to their overall play by linking up and dropping deep for the ball, but lacked the finishing today. If Martins could do that he would be a better player. He either drops deep and loses the ball or casually strolls in the opposition half. If the question was put forward to sign wither Martins or Torres, who would you choose? Viduka rarely looked interested and Geremi resorts to the long ball. Beye looks accomplished at the centre of defence and could potentially play well alongside Abdoulaye Faye. Alan Smith, for all his effort, lacks any sense of attacking or defending. He often plays the "middle-man" role and just does enough. Rozehnal and Enrique didn't look strong enough, getting outmuscled by Kuyt and in Rozehnals case outpaced by the forwards. His positional sense when defending is a let down, by getting easily turned when standing his opponent up. Second Goal - An awful goal to concede. Firstly, the corner was put into a dangerous area by Gerrard and Beye, who had been marking Kuyt, missed the clearance and Kuyt scored. If you had to blame anyone it could have been Beye, but I think another player tried to clear the ball and maybe a lack of communication at the back. I noticed Given pulling Enrique about at corners and Carr trying to organise the back line without success. With regards Allardyce, I think he should be given until after the January window. Although the substitutions were baffling, I think most fans need to be patient. Was anyone really expecting success so soon into a new period for the club? Its is disappointing to lose and 4 games since a win, but to be 11th 5 points ahead of 12th is not as bad as it seems today. Everton 7-1 Sunderland

Didn't realise Crouch hadn't scored in the Premiership so far this season, just wait until Saturday . -

"Beckham is like an American football player. He is a special player." Good cross, but the control and finish from Crouch p****s on it tbh. -
Edgar and Carroll in Liquid last night.

And hes the security guard!

The reaction during the game against Portsmouth from a few different people in the Gallowgate to the top of the Leazes was: "We hate Sunderland" - we're not playing Sunderland, we're losing 3-0 and you chant about Sunderland. "Oba Oba Fem" - granted he is a Toon favourite, but why chant for him when he isn't on the pitch? Not exactly inspiring those who are playing.
-
Will he leave Beckham on the bench though?
-
Philippe Albert. Pavel Srníček.

How about before a game, as a test, there is no music played and the crowd generate the atmosphere? Only announcements and the team read out by pa_guy. It seems the club are willing to listen to suggestions after the Journal did a few questionnaires recently.

N'Zogbia did well today. Milner on the other hand couldn't take his man on, often turning onto his right side.
-
There was a point in the game when Enrique could have passed back to Harper (he seemed to signal to him) but Harper didnt react and he passed the ball out of play. Perhaps communication is a problem? I'm sure Cacapa doesnt speak English.
-
Back from the match and very disappointed. I agree, why did N'Zogbia and Milner play on opposite wings? Why did we consistenly hoof the ball (Enrique mainly) up the pitch to Owen? We looked as though we could pass the ball 3 times in a row and then lose it. Portsmouth could pass it 10 times, keep hold of it and split the defence! Joey Barton had a poor game, maye he is not fit yet. The booing for taking Milner were unneccesary. The chanting for Oba then the booing when he does a mistake Some fans can be really fickle, I was expecting "Shearer, Shearer" chants. Overall, we lost the game in the first 11 minutes and never looked like scoring. 3 comical goals and as someone said after the Reading game, losing away games adds more pressure on at home.
