Did you see Bramble's tumble after he blocked the Savage shot and tried to run with the ball? Made me laugh.

Drop Geremi and play Emre instead as we looked much better with him on the field. A win is a win and the clean sheet is a bonus. Cacapa showed great awareness on his return after Portsmouth and delivered a good performance. Beye was my MotM and everyone else was almost non existant.

Not having much look Carroll at Preston, doesn't even look ready for Championship football. Krul has done ok at Falkirk, but seems more to do with a poor defence that they conceed so much.

Hibernian 1-0 Falkirk: Donaldson (21 pen) - Tim Krul. Burnley 1-0 Preston: Lafferty (31) - Andy Carroll.

Yeah, I chose to have a pre-season tournament, but also would have chosen to give him something and/or money to charity if you could have.

"The Sir Bobby Robson Stand" Have a game involving the greats he managed to open the new stand :parky: Maybe contact the Evening Chronicle, they seemed to handle the Local Hero situation respectably and the club mentioned they would be willing to listen to further enquiries.

Do you not think this is all going a little too fast? 35 minutes and so many different discussions points. If your going to contact the club, why not wait and see if we can come up with a decent proposal to put towards the club rather than an e-mail.

Like a match involving players Robson has managed at his various clubs/country; Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Alan Shearer, Rivaldo, Paul Gascoigne, Peter Beardsley, Romario, Phillip Cocu and others.

How much was he on a week (estimated)? and how much is he likely to earn for doing absolutely nothing this season?

Michael Owen (although did Souness sign him? )

The last 20 minutes of the first half were edge of the seat stuff. I thought we dominated against Birmingham and should have been 3-1 up (Martins chance from an N'Zogbia freekick, Milners chance from a freekick and Milners shot which hit the bar). We upped the tempo and Birmingham struggled to get hold of the ball, it would have been interesting to have seen possession statistics for the last 20 minutes of the first half. The second half was not as quick or exciting as the players started to tire and a few sloppy errors started to occur. The link up play down the left hand side between Milner and N'Zogbia was promising, maybe why Enrique has been left out recently? I think a fair few left before the end, but not like Liverpool or Portsmouth. Beye was the star performer and deserved his goal. I don't think Barton should have been sent off after seeing it on TV, in the stadium and from my view I thought he should have, but he clipped Jeromes heel (hardly any contact).

Newcastle will be without Abdoulaye Faye (calf), Stephen Carr (hamstring), Claudio Cacapa and striker Michael Owen. Centre-back Steven Taylor (back) could return. Arsenal Midfielder Mathieu Flamini has joined Arsenal's growing injury list, which also includes Alex Hleb, Cesc Fabregas and Abou Diaby. Robin van Persie is working on his match fitness after a knee problem. (from BBC). Newcastle (from): Given, Harper, Beye, Enrique, Rozehnal, Taylor, Edgar, Butt, Milner, Geremi, Emre, N'Zogbia, Barton, Smith, Viduka, Martins, Ameobi. Given Beye Rozehnal Taylor N'Zogbia Geremi Barton Butt Milner Martins Smith Subs: Harper, Viduka, Enrique, Ameobi, Emre.

I'm looking forward to the game and I also think there is the possibility to get something out of it. However, if we lose expect mass booing and "Sack Sam" chants from a few. I don't see why we should, we are ging to lose this easily according to some, so I agree that we should continue to support Newcastle throughout the game.

In my lecture today there was a quote which stood out from Richard Caborn. "Success and failure in policy terms have little to do with rational decision making in order to solve long term problems but, rather, have more to do with political short term gains to appease interested parties..." This summed up the Shepherd era. Fans wanted Robson, Souness and Roeder gone, the fatman sacked them, showing absolutely no planning. We went on a little run usually with a new manager and the fans were happy and the pressure was off. It seems that most have turned on Sam already and he can do nothing right, but sacking him now shows no long term planning which Chris Mort suggested last month. I would rather try a different approach for once and give him time to get it right, rather than continuing in this void of negativity and failure.

Chelsea are interested in signing Feyenoord's £9m-rated Dutch forward Royston Drenthe. (Mirror) Not Newcastle related, but can anyone spot the error?
-
There should be no booing at this match, if the post match comments in the Blackburn thread are anything to go by or general consensus from Newcastle fans. We are not expecting to win this game, so there is no need to boo a misplaced pass or over hit cross. With a bit more support from the home crowd we might get a decent result. Given Beye Rozehnal Taylor Enrique Barton Butt N'Zogbia Smith Martins Milner 1-1 (Martins)

Alan Shearer should climb off sofa and show that he wants to manage
robbo_11 replied to EthiGeordie's topic in Football
I don't think Shearer should be given the managers job at Newcastle straight away. Fair enough he is linked to the England job, so called "toughest job in management", but with them he has the best English players to choose from and only have a few coaching sessions a year. I would rather he took over a non-Premiership club or worked at another club under an experienced manager and worked his way up, proving his management credentials before being given the Newcastle job. What has he done in management apart from pass his badges? I wonder if Shearer was manager at the minute with this current form, how the reaction would be. Would he receive abuse like Allardyce against Liverpool or would the players be criticised more by supporters? Would his decisions/tactics be questioned or would the players at his disposal be not good enough to play for the club? How would Shearer deal with players with similar ego's? -
I think after Arsenal we have a good set of games at the start of December to pick up points, if we play like we play like today. We play Birmingham and they Chelsea i think We play Birmingham, Wigan, Fulham and Derby before a trip to Chelsea.

our defence is a disgrace, until we sort it we don't deserve to win Harsh to blame the defence when it sounded like both Bentley's goals were unstoppable and Tugays was when we had pushed on, maybe an error by Beye, but I'll wait and see it before I judge it.
