  1. If you take a look at our subs we really had zero midfield options: Subs: Forster, Ramage, Cacapa, Shola, Owen Therefore I think thats the reason nothing much happened today and our midfield was the main problem. We could only shift around our already playing midfield so there was no surprise midfielder coming off the bench to create a magic chance or 2. We could bring on Shola and Owen again and again but if theres no creative midfielder to accompany/help them out once they're on then I doubt much will come of it. Villa defended stoutley and sometimes you need a bit of magic to light the fire (wtf).............if you get what I mean
  2. Im not being negative its the truth and two many people thought we would win easily and had to high ecpectations just because we won a game not saying we will finish there just saying we will get a few games like this. SUPERTOON, you are surely on the most knee-jerk-tastic members on here. Villa are a boring side, they always have been and they usually tend to grind out boring draws and stifle entertaining football. At least we remain unbeaten but I think O'neil may have won the battle of tactics this game as they defended well, as did we, the entire match. I think eventually we'll need a 'Deco type' player at some stage to open up games like these but who knows, Emre may be that very player as hes approaching full fitness. Bring on the next game I say, we'll learn from this match in various ways
  3. :celb: :celb: Aye this is amazing, I've been smiling like a proper kid all week. Heres the article posted in .com in case people missed it, also mentions Dyers price: Speaking to the Chronicle on Saturday, Newcastle Chairman Chris Mort revealed that owner Mike Ashley had made a sizeable step to reducethe club's debt burden - and also confirmed the figure that Dyer was sold for: “We’ve been looking to reduce debt levels ever since we took over. Mike put in £30m this week to bring the debt levels down, which is a great thing for the club. “The debt is partly due to money already being spent, which you would expect to earn as future income. “It can be replaced, but it’s obviously money we’d rather be spending on players, rather than sorting out the club’s finances generally. “There is still some debt left, but it’s been brought down to a much more manageable level. “Then of course you have the Kieron Dyer deal going through this week, for which we got £7m (whether that figure includes the sell-on clause fee due to Ipswich is unclear). I’m pleased for Kieron that he could get the move he’s been after. “It doesn’t quite work that the money from the Dyer transfer gets put straight back into buying players. “We would be doing transfer deals anyway regardless of this. We’ll continue to invest in the club. “We’re still looking for one or two more additions, and that was the case whether Kieron was going or not. “If you look at the squad, we’re incredibly strong up front and in midfield, but we might add more depth at the back. We’ve put together a strong defence over the summer, so I’m not worried. But it would help to have a bit more depth. “We’re expecting a crowd of more than 50,000 and I think there’ll be a fabulous atmosphere. “I’m hoping the crowd will be as noisy as possible. We want the fans to get behind the team. “At Bolton we had such fantastic support. It really makes such a difference to the team. They have the ability to help us get the right result. “And that was a relatively smaller group of supporters, I cannot imagine what it will be like with a full house at St James’ Park. “We’re keen for people to get to the ground a bit earlier than normal because we have a new turnstile system in place. “It’s not that there are any problems with the system, it’s been tried and tested, but it will be slightly different for the supporters and something they need to get used to. We don’t want them to miss any of the match. “I’ve been to a meeting of the Premier League chairmen this week and I got a good welcome from the others. It was an open opportunity to have some in-depth talks.”

Thats the midfield I'm most looking forward to! Milner--------Barton--------Geremi---------Zoggy Emre Viduka/Owen----------Martins Hells yes 3-5-2 Do not be afraid of the unknown! Formations should never have to stay rigid the whole game, for example if we were winning by 3 goals or desperately needed a goal or 2 to get back into a game, I'd like to employ that 3-5-2

Aye Shola loves daft hats. he's got a massive collection and there "very important to him" or something according to his slot on footballers cribs. "Obviously this is me hats like, I like hats obviously and i've obviously got a lot of different hats like.........obviously" Was enthralling stuff. Fixed Shola's Quote.

    Kieron Dyer

Just in case anyone wanted to know: Dyer's former club Ipswich inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that brought the player to Tyneside in 1999. That entitles them to 20% of any subsequent sale above the £6m we paid for him.
  11. Prolly Tevez despite what an ugly bastard he is

Emre? Emre is one of my fave toon players, can't wait to see him back fit for us. If Faye does arrive then I'd be happy to go for a quick, young and fit lad with pace to complete the midfield, can't think of any right now tho. I'd be happy if it was some unknown player from a country like the Ukraine, say Dinamo Kiev Either that kind of player or a young right back and I'd be super duper happy. Even after Faye comes in hopefully, I'd still be happy with just that. Sam can maybe spoil us with another 1 or 2 tho.....
  13. Eh? our squad has been thread bare all of last season, so we've gotten rid of all the shite, replace them with quality and have more squad depth now and you compare us to fulham/b'ham? Faye was Boltons best defender and for £2m, we are laughing!
  14. thought so, my favourite on a sunday

    A slight worry

well, even when he's palyed for us in europe(very well) and he could bring him back from a couple of weeks from his loan, allardyce says no,he's too inexperienced to be on the bench in the premier league I don't see anything wrong with that, he's going to learn more about football playing every week for Falkirk than sat on our bench, no point him bringing him back for a few weeks and hoping we can send him back to Scotland after that. don't you think he'd learn more on a premier bench for two weeks then playing fro 2 1/2 months in scotland than playing for 3 months up there Well I don't think Given will be out for all that long and Harper seems fit n ready so I doubt he'd get more than reserve games. He'll get his chance with us soon enough and Sam and Krul both know that as he's of such high calibre
  21. Willow

    A slight worry

Aye, what about it? Sam's done the best thing possible for Kruls career at the moment and its only 6 months isn't it?
  22. Exactamundo. People are looking too far into the future, we've done that before and so we must learn that NOW is whats most important. Players will get older and in time their replacements brought in but for gods sake, as soon as they turn 32 they don't just turn into a prune and collapse!
  23. Willow

    A slight worry

Nothing to worry about whatsoever. We'll invest in youngsters like Sam's already said and this team will around for a good 2-3 years, with January/Summer windows passing by, youth players growing into the better setups and all of the players receiving better medical assistance than before. There'll be ups and downs like always but its all looking to be in safe hands with plenty of common sense thrown in too. Just keep looking back to the Roeder days and give yourself a slap, we're truly in a much, much stronger position than ever before. Enjoy it and stay positive, don't look for negatives all the time (even though I don't blame you for whats happened under previous managers) You lot are worrying for the sake of worrying
