We will do anything to keep our best players in January, anything except reject ridiculous bids.

Yeah, but he played emergency striker for 30 years.

I hear Mubarak is now a free agent.

Anyhow, it's pedantic. On the macro scale, there's no such thing as capitalism in its purest form, just as there was never any real example of pure socialism. It's all about the propensity toward a certain socio-economic system. In the current market, however, capitalism is the dominant propensity, but with a socialist bent toward only those with money. It's a reflection of many of our systems worldwide, systems that are fast becoming snakes eating their own tales. Football is about the metrics now. The players are assets. The supporters are assets. The real estate is an asset. We all can be translated into dollar amounts. And so the spirit of what makes the game great is becoming ancillary. And I am not necessarily criticizing it. It's just the nature of evolution. Organisms, economic systems, civilizations...they have a sell-by date. This trend in football is not a forever rising trajectory, just like the housing market wasn't (even though a lot of assholes pre-2006 would have you believe otherwise). Things will come crashing down at some point.

for all those who remember 'Greatest American Hero'

that would be the case if I was talking about 50,000 supporters, and not the player who is acknowledging them.
-
certainly it is. That does not detract from its gaiety. give a thumbs up ffs.

virtual seppukku was the honorable thing for his House.
-
Over the head clapping. Oh, the magnitude of gaiety when any player commits this atrocity. Who is the asshole who started the trend?

In an attempt too turn this into some form of football thread what do you mean by 'player like Torres'? Also a 'contract no longer being a contract'? Right I mean players like Torres who despite being good underperform in a season yet sill get sold for ridicoulous amount (I mean the 50 M was the biggest bid in the PL ever). And by the contract thing I meant as in nobody ever stays for the length of the contract indeed they seem to be just pieces of paper. If they were just paper Torres would have moved for free. Yeah but like Carroll had literally just signed a contract 3 months before he had moved. IMO that just isn't right Its not right, but neither is saying a contract is just a piece of paper, as proven with Torres' and Carroll's fees. Be prepared for football to get worse, everything you hate about it will be the future of the game, just how Blatter & Co want it to be. Well what can we do to make it better? We can start by spelling the terms for economic systems correctly. It will likely aid in credibility. Then volley a load to some schiesse porn. It will take the edge off.

He reminds me of your dick as well, Ikon.

Nobody is claiming that we live in a capitilist economy. In fact, Hannah Arendt wouldn't even know what the fuck capitilism is.

If Kuki was brought in to absorb the full brunt of the People's Elbow, then I'm glad we made this signing.

Oleg Salenko a week after deadline day.

That said, there's this one homeless guy I spied a few weeks ago who took off from the cops with Michael Johnson's pace. I was also impressed with his passion as he was getting into a heated political debate with a street light. Sign him up. Rumor is that for a 40 and a rock, he will sign a lifetime contract in his own feces.

Blackburn vs Newcastle United, 12/2/11, Pre-match thread.

I'm worried who is going to get injured by Harper if we do score. -
Hey man, I'm positive that he'll give it a go, and put in his shift. I just haven't ever seen a strike force this bad at our club. The homeless guys bin-dipping in Santa Monica don't even reek of as much desperation as this.
-
Given our lack of pace, and now goal scoring strikers, thinking on a geologic scale eases the pain a bit. They look quick compared to the Pacific Plate.
-
the 20 goal an epoch striker we have all been crying out for. This makes some MLS strike forces look absolutely lethal.

After years of stomaching Nicky Butt's errant 2 yard passes, and Parker and Jenas only passing sideways or backwards, I have no idea how anybody could criticize Tiote's passing game. The man is such a ridiculously vast improvement.
-
Blatantly Aliadiere. The man's had plenty of time to troll various football forums, given his career trajectory.
-
yeah, but that's an alpha male thing. Barton did spend a bit of time in prison.

I thought that was just a rumor that Wearsiders reproduce by spores.
