Fantastic news, if true.
-
The most likable thing about them is that they will likely all be dead in 80 years.

I've seen on more than a few occasions in his career him throwing his hands up in annoyance when another defender did not cover where HE should have been. When I say spaz out, I don't mean that he's having epileptic fits on the field. It's more of his consistent overcommitting, that sniper who occasionally follows him to the games, and the his reacting after the fact. He's not a shit player, but it really seems that every time he comes in, then we have 4 individuals in the back destructively interfering with each other. Not all his fault, but some players have an unsettling influence on their partners for whatever reason.
-
Taylor does more damage as an unsettling influence to everybody else, rather than his ability. He spazzes out, which seems to cause everybody to panic a little bit. His presence seems to cut the communication lines between the defenders and the midfield. Yes, he will throw in a last ditch tackle, but that is down to poor positioning more often than not. How many times has he created the need to go in with a last ditch tackle?

I may have criticized Routledge's crossing, but to say he was anonymous is incredible. He of all our midfielders at least had purpose about him, in stark contrast to Jonas on the left. He beat his man. He got crosses in. The crosses were generally in the right place, just not enough pace on them to trouble City so much. Certainly on that showing, he needs to be given more outings.

whackburn sounds unpleasant, tbh. Unless I suppose you are German.
-
Ronaldo raises good points, but I just think it would all average out about the same over the course of a season, maybe even slightly favoring Krul now. Hence why I think we should stick with him for the time being.

In truth, we are caught between the hammer and the anvil. And this is what is so shit. If we let it be known how we feel, we look like knobs. If we take it up the ass with quiet dignity, we look like passive tools. I've wracked my brain over this dilemma (well, for five minutes at least), and I for the life of me can't find a decent solution, without getting particularly nasty. I mentioned before that I saw a similar scenario when I was a high school teacher. The principal was fired, and a bullshit staff meeting was held by the board of directors. The reasons for letting him go were utter shit, so all I could really do to retain my dignity was tell them that I disapproved. Didn't make one bit of difference, and I wouldn't expect it to. However, sometimes it is just about dignity. Protests, revolts and the like only really work when a threshold is reached, and the status quo is an even worse prospect than being on the losing side. As this is a football club, that threshold will likely never be reached. It's a game, and we go there to be entertained. The only threshold is when it is no longer enjoyable in any capacity to support our club, which would take much more damage for me personally. I still fucking hate Ashley, but not as much as I enjoy watching us play. And that is the sad truth, and why I continue supporting this club when every other asshole I know is either an Arsenal supporter, or jumping on 'atchet 'arry's magical mystery tour. Once again, only three slave revolts .

If he's consistently making these costly errors over a few games, then I will be a bit worried. And I do agree that whether it's horrendous decision making, or no longer having the physical ability, it doesn't matter in the end. "Well, at least he made the correct decision" doesn't cut it any better. At this point, what is more important is to consider who is going to to ship in more goals over the course of the season...not how they do it.

I would certainly contend that his distribution and handling, if better, are marginally so at best. It seems to take such a long time for the instructions from his brain to get to his limbs that he has become such a liability. I'm not saying Krul is a much better choice, but recall some of Harper's school ground errors over the past two years.
-
So all things being equal, why bring in Harper again?
-
Exactly! Over the past year and a half, Harper has looked as if he was trudging through molasses.
-
Can you explain what is meant by this please? Our capacity to tolerate abuse is a millionfold greater than our willingness to do something about it. When saying 'our capacity' I assume you're including yourself in this? If not, what have you done? I kicked Batista out of Cuba, but that limelight-grabbing Communist douchebag Che took most of the credit, along with his red butterboy Castro. Other than that, not much of note, apart from some beautifully eloquent complaining, and stellar analysis in hindsight.
-
I think blaming Colocini at all is a but harsh. midds is right in that Krul made a complete hash of it, no matter how you look at it. Still, I expect young keepers to screw things up in such a way every once in awhile. Now if he's consistenly David Jamesing it well in to his career, then we will have good reason to be harsh on him.
-
How many times would Guthrie even find himself in that position?
-
I've laid out a few. Sadly, some of them had nothing to do with the club...and so one could argue that they were morally suspect. At least show solidarity in your displeasure of how everyone was treated for a sustained period of time. Make him feel uncomfortable even showing his Hutt-ass at the games. On the television, at 0-2 down, that fat prick had such a complacent look on his face. He must be thinking that he got away with murder. If he is going to treat us all like assholes, at least make him earn his keep.
-
It's amazing. Ashley could round up thousands of Geordies, feed them a handful of old rice a day, and toss them into the Killing Fields. The bedsheet brigade would appear for a game or two before everything dies down into a state of resignation. This is why there were only three slave revolts in the history of Rome.
-
Krul will become a good keeper. I have no doubt about that. Harper is pretty much past his sell by date, and has been for awhile. It makes more sense to me to stick with Krul.
-
to state the obvious, we cannot afford to lose Enrique. Best player today for us by some distance. I just expect him to somehow get goalside of the attacking players every time, no matter the situation. The best left back we have had in the 17 years I've been supporting them.
-
c'mon, Nolan had to approach the ball from a slightly tricky angle to make contact, and through a few players with a keeper closing down. I think he can be forgiven for putting that one a little wide.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

I just expect him to win the ball every single time. Everybody knows they're coming, but no matter. Potentially one of the most dominant players I've seen in the air in a long while. It's amazing some of the knockdowns he manages to pull off.
