It's very hard to see anything in him that suggests he'll succeed without better coaching for him and those around him. But you're correct about writing young players off imo.
-
I think he has the potential to be the most exciting signing, but he does look really young and lightweight at the moment so my impression is that he is maybe a year or two off growing into the finished article so we might not see him at his best straight away. Looks very much like a Liverpool player of the future so you can see why Klopp was sniffing. Looks skinny but he's a big tall fucker by the looks of it He's not, 5 9/10. Fuck Wilson tiny for a CF then. Or he was standing further back in the photo

A competent selection of full backs you say? Buying players before getting rid of ones we've got? Something fucking stinks
-
was thinking this when reading an article about wilson thinking moving to nufc could get him in the euros...nufc you say?

throwback ref

the little i've seen i'd tend to agree, always thought he was run in behind/the channels type of striker rather than wanting it fired at him from 60 yards to fight with the CBs
-
then he has to be cut you'd imagine lejeune, saivet, atsu, barlaser, murphy/ritchie, muto would be the prime candidates then fwiw i think muto worth keeping but bruce clearly doesn't rate, i'd also shift ritchie but bruce likely to keep him imo
-
kind of wild the variance of opinions on the type of player he is mind, we've got rondon-lite, bent-regen among other i've not seen enough of him to comment tbph
-
barlaser won't count will he? 7 players highlighted there that we need to be aggressively looking to shift imo, probably will be one of lejeune/schar unless bacon gets another CB
-
this is my feeling on him as well, i don't think it's a given he's a success here given the pace of the league
-
wonder why the stupid cunt doesn't think we need a decent CM
-
i'm sure he does

Every club (and business) should write off an asset if it's not actually of any value any more. If a player has no re-sale value and is rotting in the under-23s their asset value should be impaired and expensed. Actually, looking at the NUFC accounts, I'm not even sure this happened. 2017 - Amortisation and impairment of players' registrations: £35,753k 2018 - Amortisation and impairment of players' registrations: £41,336k 2019 - Amortisation and impairment of players' registrations: £38,611k Not a significant variance there. Think the whole idea of a big random increase in write-offs one year to massage the profit figure might have been a myth. It absolutely f***ing happened. They used £30m (iirc) of cash to write off certain players wages up front in the books. As has been said there was too much money in the club and they didn't want to back Benitez so that's what they did. It was when the accounts were delayed for an inordinate amount of time. Nothing to do with amortisation, it was wages/remaining contract values. EDIT: I see this has already been covered. Wasn't reading the latest posts :/

Was he there last season? Forgot he existed. Some injury that, absolutely ruined the lad.

Joelinton isn't going to magically turn into a player for us. He clearly needs detailed coaching which he's not going to get. With it I could see him in the 10 spot personally.
-
Again, for clarity if Rafa was manager no bother Almiron playing 10 as Rafa would work on his weaknesses and mitigate them. Bruce not so much.
-
doesn't have the composure or awareness to play the role imo, i guess if you're putting most of the play out wide through Fraser & ASM and allowing Almiron to ghost onto things it might work but he's not going to do the playmaker role
-
He might do better there considering he is quite one footed. Would offer more protections for Lewis who from what I’ve heard isn’t great defensively. The question is how good is Fraser in the right? yeah he's a grafter, would make sense to have him helping out the fullback, trying to get wide forward and getting crosses in for wilson let ASM be the playmaker and draw players into the middle to cover him
-
I feel like he's looked most dangerous for us going through the middle tbh, makes him less predictable. the only thing it did for him was allow him to be more central and get on the end of a couple of things when he scored his few goals last season, in terms of his general play on the ball i don't think he was really much better though probably a bit better than when he was on the right for obvious reasons you're sacrificing a position with him in there imo, someone in that role should be comfy on the ball, beat a man, have good balance and be able to get their head up to pick the right pass and that's not almiron :/
-
almiron simply can't play that role effectively imo, i'd swap him and max around and get him trying to get outside wide left using his pace, he's borderline useless at anything else as he's too one footed
-
wildly optimistic imo, if we stay up comfortably i think it'll be like last season with the bottom 3-4 being godawful rather than us being good we don't create or score enough and i'm really not convinced the players we've signed will rectify that enough...CM is pretty much as bad as it's been for the last few years unless hendrick turns out to be amazing can bacon go through a patch like last season where he was riding rafa's defensive organisation and stealing wins he didn't deserve? i'd be amazed if so preseason has been a disgusting shambles, dubs is injured, which suggests we might struggle from the off
-
i'd personally like to see almiron out of the team for while, used more as an impact sub...he really looked like he could become something under rafa but under bruce he won't amount to shit and is largely a waste of a shirt imho

The club was still paying for its relegation, if rafa was here now (minus the history between both) he’d have the same money available. I do think policy has changed though, maybe Rafas want for established players has been taken on board but Ashley was too stubborn to change while he was here. Nah, It's all out of spite, he didn't like being called out by Rafa. Rafa would have been sacked if he hadn't been so popular with the fans. Ashley would never sack a manager and be forced to pay him off if relegation wasn't a factor. No way on earth. Cheap.
