  1. perhaps if we have a player like thauvin on the wing playing with confidence it'd open up more opportunities for wijnaldum through the middle? there are no absolutes but i'd strongly argue that giving thauvin 10 minutes here or there is going to achieve the sum total of fuck all for his development Whether we like it or not it seems like McClaren is set on having two CM's who by and large hold their position in the middle of the park. I'm very hesitant to move Wijnaldum out of the spot he's done so well in and into a deeper role, as much as I want to see Tiote and Anita's "partnership" broken up. I'm not convinced that's his chosen style personally, rather an acknowledgment that his CM options are Anita, Tiote and Colback and they're not capable of anything else. Either way it seems pretty clear he doesn't see Wijnaldum as a CM, he started Gouffran in CM rather than move Wij there. Not defending his decision by the way, think he's settled on a very ugly formation and setup these last few games. Not sure, my guess is the Norwich game has made him think he's lucked onto something with Wijnaldum playing wide and ghosting in late but it's not really worked to much effect since that game. Before that he'd tried Wijnaldum central when he was just getting used to things and he struggled there. Anyway we all know he needs to change it, Thauvin needs to come into the fold ASAP as does Aarons if he's ever fit again and if that means moving both Wijnaldum and Sissoko central to do it then he needs to get on with it. We won't get to safety by not fucking scoring
  2. I'm in Liverpool a lot, I know quite a few evetonians, some claim to know Rooneys dad etc etc, they all claim he'll go back in the summer. Not sure why they would want him though, nostalgia aside he's well past it now and lord knows his wages would be ridiculous. signed a new 300k per week deal, 5.5 years in feb 2014 he's not going anywhere unless manyoo continue to pay a significant portion of those wages just to get rid of him
  3. If not for the Messi Bayern game it would be close be class if he at least gets 2nd place behind messi, cut shot straight to ronaldo in the crowd
  4. Jesus that goal. Is Neymar in with a shout of world player this year? He's been amazing for the whole of the year afaik, as good as anyone really.
  5. I think he's one of those that we'll definitely feel it when he's gone, for all the intermittent shitness that comes with him playing anyway. End of the day he wants away, we shouldn't forget that, it's not like we're doing a Pardew and trying to sell him every five minutes. If he goes it'll likely be from his own push to move.
  6. He's not been in the job a year yet dude, was more than a year before the wheels really came off with us.
  7. I'm still a bit taken aback by that Chronicle article last week saying we'll have to shift a high earner to bring in more players. The one tolerable one I think they could get away with is Sissoko because he clearly wants away and isn't consistent enough anyway, I think they could sell that to people. But the idea that we *have* to sell one of our few good players to stop ourselves getting relegated when we're cash rich is painful to think about.

  10. the coward thing was mooted pretty early in mcclaren's tenure and it was shot down by a lot on here but after that showing if thauvin isn't starting vs. leicester with wijnaldum taking the place of anita or tiote i'm not sure what other term can be used for the guy he seems terrified of making any difficult decisions, unless that decision is dropping someone easy like thauvin, but then i suppose it's not a difficult one in that case
  11. Just what people said about Wijnaldum in the summer. I was wondering if his team were sponsored by Volkswagen or something
  12. And the worst part is that we've such a set of clueless bellends at the club that we'll never force the shit out at a significant loss to clear the decks so we'll have all the shit hanging around until their contracts expire. Apart from Cabella...so strange that deal. But that wasn't a significant loss though afaik, we maybe lost a couple of mil on the deal but in order to get rid of the likes of Tiote, Anita et al we're going to have to let them go for almost nothing.

  14. "soccer is synonymous with pussies and diving" - aye it's synonymous with being f***ing class as well, not having this s*** That's debatable at this point tbh. Yeah perhaps I've been hasty here

  17. I'm not consenting to see reason on the matter, I'm willing it to happen.
  18. It does seem a ludicrous proposition

Was also an advantage at a younger age. Very true
  20. January is everything. I don't see how we can stay up with our current CM options personally, we need a presence in there ASAP. A normal club would aim to sign two but we'll be lucky with one, which might be enough as long as we get another striker and some better defenders.
  21. aren't you still defending Pardew?
  22. McClaren has got to start at least putting him in at home ASAP. 10 minutes here and there is no good to anyone.
