probably a romantic view but i see him taking over like he's a fan given the chance to do what we all know needs doing, he knows he's got the club where he wants them so he'll do whatever the fuck he wants stupid sending off? fuck you, suspended can't finish? dropped drinking in bars? get the fuck out of them or get fined late? be on time or get fined etc... lots of the shit he's doing is what pisses the fans off when we're as terrible as we are and half the stuff he's done is exactly what i'd have done too...lets be honest if we were at the top of the table nobody cares if owens gone 10 games without scoring or someone's getting pissed in the toon get on with it son i say, fuck the lot of 'em (notable exceptions to bassong, beye, enrique, butt & harper)

new thread topic? apt pre-match music my votes with "the final countdown" by europe Because the club's been as successful as a GOB Bluth magic show?
-
that amused me after the liverpool game; what "tactics" could shearer possibly have employed to not lose the game, never mind win it with our wretched players? only one i can think of would be lining all 10 outfield players up along the goal line to form a wall and letting harper roam the area to try and cover the bit between the players heads and the crossbar
-
fuckers should have sacked him when they had the chance at his prison sentence, the above scenario has all the hallmarks of NUFC
-
quite a conundrum this, i don't want us to go down by a long shot but staying up for one more season isn't as important to me as getting the club back sounds overly dramatic, and is i guess, but we are truly lost at the moment and will remain so until a hatchet is taken to the club starting with the playing staff i have high hopes that we stay up and shearer does this job but i doubt he'd take 100% of the necessary choices, relegation will force them though i want us to stay up, before anyone starts, i'll just be a happy happy man when most of our first team are elsewhere replaced by players who want to play for the shirt

Aye, but you're talking about the Germans, not greedy rip-off British nailed tbh
-
many, many reasons for that i'd imagine, such as the yank system probably only existing so they can crowbar adverts on the telly & the stop start nature of the game meaning it works football would be a bag of shit

The way all successful clubs should be run! why god, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
-
can't agree with this, as examples since he arrived he's crow barred viduka off the treatment table and onto the pitch, plus duff and smith are both playing better than they have in their entire time with the club imo it all comes back to pompey for me; we had tricky games prior to that and this was the one where a win would have turned it around and boosted confidence for the games to come - we went with the right tactics, made the opportunities to win the game but the players blew them you can only take criticism of the manager so far, he can't put the ball in the net

Quick before I go to work ! EXACTLY. Just what I've been saying. Problem is, too many of our own fans shape their opinions on them, who themselves work up the incident to suit their own image. Do fuck off you patronising twat. Every neutral I've spoken to said it was a Red. making the lads point for him (in his mind)
-
You just said when you looked at it again, you thought it a yellow. You too jumped in and judged on his rep. The ref shouldn't, but did. Its hardly the first time the anfield ref syndrome buggered NUFC, now is it ? i considered it a yellow after watching a few dodgily placed replays, i wouldn't have envied the ref that decision 'cause it probably looked really bad from where he was he's got a rep as violent man and a dirty player (to a degree) so flying into a dangerous tackle where and when he did forces the refs hand dude - i'm sure if the ref could have paused time, watched the replays a few times without the fans baying for blood then he might have called it a yellow but it's not like barton did nothing and was judged ONLY on his reputation here is it?
-
Mostly through injury, true. I certainly believe his rep goes before him, and yesterday proved that. "rep" works both ways mate - he's got previous and knows it so he shouldn't be putting himself in with a chance of a card being issued in such a place You're supposed to be judged by what you do NOT by what your reputation SAYS you do you appear to be under the impression his reputation and his actions yesterday were out of sync, i disagree - he lived right up to his rep actually he WAS judged by what he did man, he was just judged harshly (according to some of us) but i doubt a lot of football fans would agree with the assessment

I say again though - some of us are doing what the rags want - AS USUAL forgot the smiley after the swine flu bit, and i do my own thinking thanks i've already said i thought it was a yellow not a red in reality but his actions prompted a wrong/difficult decision by the ref what on earth are you defending here?

And TRon wallows in the effective midfield we have enjoyed so much for the past three-four months. You and Jimmymag make a good pair. if he wallows in it it's because barton has just removed any chance he had of seeing a competent midfielder by being a pigshit think cunt hope swine flu reigns down on the prick
-
i thought it was harsh at the time but the replays i was seeing weren't the best, it was a yellow for me barton deserves everything thrown at him for this one the prick, same as mickey "one chance" owen blowing his one chance every fucking time he gets it i can forgive shit players if they're just shit, i can't forgive the bullshit these two perpetuate week in week out in a B&W shirt
-
mate of mine is hitting toon the day of fulham home! he was asking me the crack and i didn't know what to tell him other than when we lost the league under keegan they smashed half the town up nasty could be the word in the upcoming weeks
-
bit in bold is the only bit i disagree with, barton is patently as thick as shit and a total cunt as well approach it from nothing other than the pov of NUFC - we've been crying out for him to come back for the run in and he flies in when the game is over and in a needless area knowing full well his reputation and what the reaction of the kop would be if that's not the behaviour of a thick cunt i don't know what is
-
would have been total and utter madness
-
allardyce time vs perception, i love it - as NE5 mentions he was a serious contender for the England job man...now he's recognised for the horrible charlatan he is his system will never succeed, it'll stave off failure for a time with the right players but it will always fail can't wait 'til he crashes and burns - the moment he relegates a team the gig will be up for him
-
all of this bar the shearer kicking off bit - i'm at the point where i want them named and shamed and thrown out of the door to the wolves
-
Even if that were true (which I doubt), the only person to blame for his reputation is him. In which case he's even fucking thicker for making the 'tackle'. It's conjecture obviously, but you think Gerrard or Scholes would have gone for that? I've seen Gerrard perform tackles far worse than that in the past. He used to be renound for his love for a two footed lunge. 'They're picking on me' is the sort of excuse that Barton himself would come up with. Whatever the technicalities of the tackle, there was a clear intent to hurt or intimidate his opponent and that's why he walked. I've been one of Barton's supporters, but I find his action unforgiveable. It was an unnecessary challenge, fuelled not be temper but by his desire to put Alonso in his place. We're a club in trouble, but it seems that Barton's ego is more important than that. Just who does he think he is? i'll be interested to see just how badly injured alonso is after being stretchered off, looked like barton barely touched him to me So what? It's the intention that counts, not the end result. never said it was, just said i'd be interested to see
