Pwnage: Barcelona bum Man Utd 2-0, win the CL
mrmojorisin75 replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Football
wasn't last years CL final widely regarded as the worst since the CL began? go Premier League What are you on about You never saw AC Milan and Juventus, just stop it, that's utter nonsense. actually i did see it, and remember it very very well because it was an excellent tactical battle and a good game (SBR doing the commenting at the time on TV said the same thing as it happens) take off your english rose (see what i did there) tinted glasses man, it's pathetic the best team will win man utd vs barca and that's all there is to it No one and i mean no one liked that game, pretty sure when i was watching the commentators were a bit fed up with it too. aye righto, it was a lesson in the art of defending mate, there are many elements to the game of football - you stick to your "best league in the world" guns though where the defending is fucking shambolic >90% of the time -

absolute shite on so many levels as for the "amazingly lucky" part when the English sneak a win these days in Europe it's called doing well tactically, funny how that doesn't work for the foreigners eh? chelsea are one of the most defensively organised and physical teams in European top flight football and they play on a small, narrow pitch at Stamford bridge that denies visitors room to play much like Highbury did for arsenal, it doesn't surprise me that they only got a shot on target last night thing is, it went in, fuck chelsea -

was gonna chomp but this is surely a piss take I hate this Barcelona w***-fest, was a complete farce today. They were completely toothless in attack, all these great players and one shot on goal and barely a sniff at their home ground. I thought there superb passing moves can tear apart anything.. obviously not. Over-rated. Surely a Man Utd win. best two teams on the planet, what's the fucking problem? chelsea tried to stop them playing and it almost worked anti-football can very often beat football you know? we have been a great example of this in the past, doesn't mean people shouldn't have lauded us for sticking to pure attacking football principles anyway you the PL all you want, for me the PL is the Oasis of world football (successful but classless and brutish)...spanish football is Blur (all the talent but a bit foppish and less brash so they don't get noticed as much) PL -
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/win-at-newcastle-will-clear-route-to-safety-says-bates-1680251.html "Newcastle is probably one of the biggest games in the club's history, it's that big. The players know it and the manager knows it, and we will go there to try and get the three points," he said. "The loser of the game might possibly go down. I'm not sure if mathematically it will mean that, but it could mean that." sounds like a brain surgeon this one
-
Beye and the anti-christ Barton being done by Cattermole were fairly pivotal imho, yeah this, we'd have had a few more points at home with barton for sure
-
surely the basic point of the away goal rule is that in theory it's harder to score away from home, therefore if you do so and the game ends up tied over 2 legs then you get extra "weight" for the away goal and quite rightly so - plenty of teams can be dominant at home, performing away is not always such an easy task look no further than NUFC for examples of this in recent history, when you look back on the title we lost to man u we lost it due to our away form basically...we won 17 games at home that season iirc which was immense, we were average away and that's why we lost during the 10 years or so man u kept getting dumped out of the CL by borrussia dortmund etc... it was primarily because they thought they'd got a great result 0-0 away from home then johnny foreigner popped up with an away goal to blow them out of the water, their success now is largely based on making sure they score in the away legs
-
haven't been able to watch either of these legs but i have a feeling the final will go differently as it's a one off game - man u shut down barca last year and chelsea tried it this year due to there being two legs and them having the chance to hit them with a high pressure game in the home legs, worked last year almost worked this year how to approach it in a one off game? personally i think fergie will attack them and try to dominate the tempo of the game rather than physically dominate them, and i think he'll lose...real tried it last week and were buried for their troubles

Spot on! I hate to say it, but I love watching Man U at their best. Far far better than watching Barcelona and Arsenal. I agree. i guess you didn't see barca thump real at the weekend I did, and it was exceptional. Except for me, it's more fun watching a Man Utd. outfit firing on all cylinders. Rooney in particular has that explosiveness that makes him look like an entire team at times. At 2-0 up last night, he was at left back defending for a chunk of the match when he could have been lazily waiting up front for a counter. For me, the high energy. high quality laced with blood and thunder played by Man Utd is breathtaking. reeeeally? the techinical ability of barca compared to man utd is beyond laughable, it's how we should all dream of being able to play football

Darren Fletcher - Should he be able to play in the final?
mrmojorisin75 replied to Liam Liam Liam O's topic in Football
except it isnt the end of, because the debate is about whether he should be allowed to play in the final, not whether it was a penalty or not. stupid fucking debate really isn't it, he was sent off and the rules say he can't play right? so of course he shouldn't be allowed to play because if barca lose tonight they'd be within their rights to kick off with the puyol yellow that put him out of tonight's game for a challenge that i heard was not worthy of a yellow rule changes are never made mid season for good reason -
yeah this makes me laugh - anyone can win 2 leg ties, just so happens that the physical style of english teams is putting them ahead at the moment as we tend to play a high pressure game at home that pushes teams around i'd like to see what this barca team would do in the PL for a full season which is all that really matters, i have a strong suspicion they'd make a fucking mockery of the whole thing because english defending is widely recognised as being crap compared to italian & spanish it's just they're not coping in these one off games with the contrast in styles barca would destroy the PL, and real wouldn't be too far away with a little tinkering defensively

I don't think they're that far off being a great side again. They need another top class centre back to partner Toure - the loss of Gallas and the feuding that has surrounded him has been a real blow. I also think they need a better striker. Adebayor and Van Persie are good players but I don't think they'll take them from the top four to the top two, which is what they're aiming for. Apart from that, I don't think there's much wrong. Fourth place and a Champions League semi is a good platform to build on. yeah, but if he goes out in the summer and buys another striker/winger/14 year old as he's done in the last couple of windows they'll not improve much and you have to ask how long should they carry on with that? depends what they're in it for, if it's to build a team to be successful then let him keep at it, but if they want success in the very near future beyond an FA cup then forget it - man u, chelsea & liverpool are striking the right balance, arsenal are not On the other hand there“s the small matter of one Andrei Arshavin, which at least gives them the extra edge needed in forward positions. All-in-all they're probably one CB and another striker short of assembling quite a stunning team... Erm, they also need a couple of bastard midfielders in the mold of Vieira and Petit. The midfielders they have now pale in comparison to those two, and even to the Ray Parlour of the later years. he needs to take a long, hard look at barca for what to do - similarities are obvious

nothing but disgust for any arsenal fan who would turn on Wenger but in all truth his time is surely coming one way or another? how long can he ignore the glaring deficiencies in his team is the question - diaby, song, denilson, djourou, silvestre & gallas will never be able to form a good enough defensive unit to protect his attackers and it needs to be dealt with the diarra deal(s) were bonkers, as was him not signing palacios and recommending him to bruce!! both of them would improve arsenal a great deal they'll probably continue to finish 4th by being better footballers than the rest of the league but unless he takes some action to steel the team up they're not winning any of the big prizes again soon, and that would be such a shame for a great manager who is so close to creating something fantastic

should have stayed a secret tbh

i agree with the bold but one thing i've thought since shearer turned up is a win will change things dramatically - beat 'boro by any means on monday then the fixtures are good to us in that fulham will be up next and i think after a win we'd go out and beat fulham personally should we do that then 'boro, the mackems & hull win the games afar says it'll be the unluckiest relegation in the history of the league and it simply won't happen - no way all three of them will win those games, best case one of them will hit a run and that still leaves us a decent chance i reckon stoke/hull will be a draw, the mackems lose then 'boro game will then be even more crucial

blue piping looks fucking shit, was a shoe in to get it but might not now "blue star" blue would be fine but the colour they've chosen is mincified as fuck & looks cheap disappointing, as with everything else at the club
-
was considering making a thread about this so certain people could explain themselves but i'll ask in here: WHERE THE FUCK DOES ANYONE GET OFF HAVING A CHELP AT WHAT SHEARER'S "ACHIEVED" OR "DONE" SO FAR? i mean, honestly, were these people even paying attention when kinnear was around? or hughton? for some reason, the barton thread and the one about criticism of his "harsh" methods, has just dawned on me like a slap in the face...laughable, truly laughable - for a club that supposedly idolises hero's plenty of people seem to be just willing the lad to fail madness

that ship has well and truly sailed, unless a harsh red card is grounds for the sack these days
