  1. magpie & toonlass know a heap more about this than me so i'd like to ask: who at that time was responsible for monitoring the numbers who were in the ground at any given time? simple question, the police or the club/turnstiles?
  2. hey oldtype, watching korea vs iraq and the lad ki sung-yong looks the part i have to say...big lad and seems able to read the game more than most of his teammates he'll do a job in europe when he gets his move no doubt other lad you mentioned is playing but has been very quiet Sorry, but I have to ask. Why are you watching Korea vs Iraq? Where's the appeal? i live in korea and it's that or some fucking bullshit tv show i can't understand Fair enough then For some reason I thought you were in the states, which is why I didn't see the appeal. nah, there's no appeal - boxing match between 2 armless men tbh it's 1-1 due to two headbutts!

  5. I think I remember reading that Bruce has a clause in his contract that allows him to talk to other interested clubs - I reckon he only ever saw Wigan as a stepping stone (it's the same line he uses to sell the club to players like N'Zogbia) ah!
  6. by the way, how does anyone realistically believe a deal would happen? bruce must have at least a couple of years left on his contract and whelan would try and rape ashley for compensation obviously he'd never pay it not gonna happen...that's saying nothing of whether bruce would come under the current regime and have no say on signings; the one thing i like about bruce coming in for us now is he's taking chances with his scouting team and look at some of the excellent players he's uncovered...if he's not given the chance to continue that with us then why bother (apart from the fact he's better than JFK obviously)?
  7. hm, not 100% convinced...we sell papers and get fans watching tv for a variety of reasons floundering in the championship or worse will make it nigh on impossible for them to dredge stories and thus sales from the club, i'm sure they'd much rather we stay up and keep on being the PL circus/laughing stock for the rest of eternity
  8. You can understand a businessman listening to the people around him though. If Ashley is clueless (as most of us suspect) then he can only go on what the people he's appointed advise him. Presumably Wise thinks the squad and manager are as good as Llambias does. wise has played at the highest level, no way on earth he can think this squad is good enough, no way phrase it a different way though, does he think it's the best he could acheive within the financial boundaries? i posed this question ages ago about his role as a director of football and was shot down but i think it's about the most accurate view there is
  9. down, unquestionably - needs to be added to the poll, no doubt for me
  10. It is just awful and to think it will/could get a shit load worse over the next 2 months. I can see if being bad for years. I really cant think how long it might take us to recover from this mis-management. Ashley is never going to be able to sell us so I can see us being under his "guidance" for a few years yet might come down to a FS style good luck appointment (uncle bobby) we're going down, i've said so for a long long time but there's nothing to say a wise crony like poyet might not turn out to be fucking brilliant is there?
  11. isn't bothroyd out of work still? i'd sink to those depths right now
  12. which may be the key! but comes back the original question of blow a potential 500k on curbishley now or go down what's going throught this guys fucking head?
  13. you ain't read the other thread skirge, he used the casting couch to get there apparenty!
  14. for a massive keep us up bonus? and to put themselves in the limelight for more work? yeah, i'm wired to the moon
  15. well "at this point" happened when took sick which was some time ago, that aside; the realistic option is an alan curbishley or o'blarney til the end of the season - someone free who has coached teams with some degree of success in the last decade on a short term deal for a huge wage weighted on keeping us up too much to ask?
  16. Gerrard is English, so the English media suckle his arse. Hardly a conspiracy. Essien is definitely one of the best players in the world. Can do everything, though could score more, and has the intelligence and attitude Gerrard lacks. Surely anyone would love to have him in their team. When he replicates his Liverpool form for England, I'd glady have him in the England team every game without doubt. However, is that ever going to happen? It hasn't so far in 70 caps. I hope he proves me wrong one day because if he does replicate his Liverpool form, we might actually get somewhere in South Africa next year. For me, Gerrard is a world-class player but only in terms of league football because he doesn't perform on the International stage. Messi is streets ahead in regards to the original question by the way. Fair enough. Can't comment on that, because I haven't watched an England game since 2006. like to see gerrard playing as high up for england as he does for liverpool - no one would touch him too ballsy for cappello i'd imagine though
  17. It's just unbelievably frustrating to have to watch it all unravelling like this. The only possible explanations I can think of for Ashley's behaviour are: - He's genuinely thick as fuck and just understand what's happening - He loves the thrill of a gamble and is getting off on the high stakes roulette of top flight survival - He realises the shit he's in but is too stubborn/bizarrely loyal to incompetent employees to do anything decisive about it - He's ripping the piss out of us Whichever it is, it's pretty much impossible to put a positive spin on it - we're going down without a fight I fear..... must be one of these two surely?
  18. I figured you were down with the Lizard King (judging by your username). So stuck 10p in the jukebox (I'm thoughtful like that). It hurts to set you free But you'll never follow me The end of laughter and soft lies The end of nights we tried to die.. (that's 20p gone) need a little bowing smiley! i doff my cap sir
  19. They haven't got the foggiest idea about football. Unbelievable stuff. not trying to start something dave but that thread of mine that was deleted the other day was trying to address this (albeit badly) what is it? what is it they're fucking doing? MA made 2bn...fine he might have been a chancer but so am i and i'm fucking skint, so lets assume he's a borderline intelligent man what, then, the fuck is going on? it's driving me insane thinking about it - the man is standing by and watching HIMSELF lose 100m GBP for fucks sake
  20. Drivin' down your freeways Midnite alleys roam Cops in cars, the topless bars Never saw a woman So alone, so alone.. As i've said, in my mind the mistake was to open the gate instead of delaying the kick off, if that makes me deluded so be it. what's the doors quote for/meant to imply? or just a quote about cops in cars as would seem sensible 1%! give me 1% fans share of the blame and i'll happily walk into the sunset...!
  21. me and unbelievable don't agree on much but i'm with him here - why spend money on bairns "as the plans goes" and fuck all on the first team then employ a manager and coaching staff who only give the possibly decent bairns we have a chance when smith/duff/geremi et al are all injured? a fucking monkey could the "established" players would take us down or close this season, why is ameobi playing ahead of carroll? as an example lua or duff/r taylor for the remainder of the season? know my choice joke move from a joke club
  22. No. You will always get ticketless fans turning up at games, wether its getting tickets for other parts of the ground, tickets off touts or pole vaulting over the wall, it happens, especially an important game just down the road (in relation to Europe). The amount of ticketless fans would not of made a difference to the amount of fans already with tickets (judging by the empty sections in that end) that were allowed to swarm into an already full section once the doors were opened, and there would of still of been plenty of fans outside the ground unable to get in (with or without tickets). waffle, did the ticketless fans contribute to the problem? if they did they deserve a share of the blame divorce yourself from the emotion man, otherwise you'll never be able to analyse anything objectively the weight of the blame lies with the police, that is for sure, but they don't bear 100% of it and anyone who says they do should have a think Ok, the main stand is already full, there are other sections with less fans (maybe some of these left the already full section because it was already full), the police decided to open a large gate and let those not already into the ground swarm into the already full area. Do I think the amount of ticketless fans would have any bearing on the outcome in relation to the total number of fans with tickets (including those sent there from other parts of the ground) that were waiting to get in, then no I don't. The decision should of been made to delay kick off. fine, the ticketless fans at the ground that day had no bearing on events, it was all the police...cunts that they are to a man deluded
