  1. and not having one wouldn't benefit them how? they could develop an even stronger grip on the league than they do now man, especially chel$ki who'd sign a new player when ballack got a cold or something
  2. i'd have to say for, despite our patchy record in it without it chelski & manyoo would find it even easier over the course of a season and teams with no funds would find it just as hard - these teams might think they have enough players but events can take their course, they shouldn't be able to go and replace a player at the drop of a hat for 20m in october, for example look at arsenal last season btw - still very much in with a shout of the title (maybe still leading), eduardo hits form then gets cut in half by that brum player, they couldn't just go and buy a replacement there and then and i like that...granted arsenal aren't the best example as wenger probably wouldn't do it anyway but it highlights my point it levels the playing field in one way, albeit minor, and that really is required for me it should include management & senior coaching staff also
  3. The Times match report is even better for it's reporting of the Barton and Nasri incident to the point where they almost applaud Nasri's trip. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article4649029.ece i was gonna post this times "story" but you got there first utterly diabolical
  4. agreed. i'd imagine the same goes for smith & duff as well...every right minded person knows they all should have been touted around on frees to simply get them out of the club as they have inherent value either on or off the pitch suppose they're the equivalent of negative equity really
  5. You've got your head in the clouds if you thought the club would bring in 7 players to walk straight into the first team in one Summer. To be fair that's what was needed yes, yes it was also unbelievables point about letting players who weren't shit go while keeping turds like smith, duff and sholagoals at the club is a very good one think afar said it earlier in the summer - we should have aggressively sought to move those players on and play bairns in their spot if necessary {i'm one who thinks we'll sign a couple at least tomorrow btw}
  6. "How many more chances does a thug from a murderous family need?" jesus christ on a motorbike i thought i'd seen and heard it all
  7. i have a feeling this is gonna be the greatest thread NO has ever seen
  8. "toon cave in to owen pay demands" there you go, piece of piss really
  9. have to agree with that, watching butt try to eat up the grass on the emirates pitch was a borderline tragedy...some of the arsenal players could have stopped for a tba before he got to them
  10. i get the impression from your posts you've read the sunday sun today?
  11. jonas was immense yesterday btw it got to the point at one stage in the game where anyone (except zog) in a black and white shirt was looking for him the moment the ball came to them, they were giving him the ball when he was surrounded by arsenal players rather than try something themselves not a criticism of zog either, if the rest of the team were as comfortable with the ball as him and jonas we'd be a lot better off
  12. Because he's a striker at heart. It's hard to hold yourself back from saying stuff like that when the instinct is in your bones. this
  13. No, they don't. Tried last year (twice, even) but got refused both times. Maybe I just need to let them know that I've got a billion pounds locked up somewhere. this was my insta-thought when i saw that clip, how did some fucker get the pint past the stairs? must have been toon fans who arranged a pint for him to see if he'd down it imo, they'll have sneaked it past the stewards
  14. from nufc.com "there is a real danger of this expected result at the Emirates being the start of a destructive downward spiral." wtf?
  15. Nile ☆RANGER☆ STR8888888888888 LIKE A BANANA can someone tell me what this actually means?
  16. tell you what mind, if we sign heskey i'm gonna seriously have a think about a period away from football, join AA or summat
  17. Well said, sir ! Absolutely spot-on !! well put, unless one of our players coming is a forward with pace we'll see valuable martins is in the next few weeks i find some of the criticism of the guy laughable, we're a very different team when he's on the pitch
  18. strange one this, 1.5m? what's the point? send him on loan for 2 seasons and see how he does, it's not like we need the money (is it?)
  19. again can't be arsed to go through 36 pages here but my thoughts: 1. to the people who think martins is shit - this is a snapshot of a martinsless universe and it's fucking terrifying 2. we were beaten by a better team but never laid down to die for them and never will under KK, move on to the next game
  20. not reading 5 pages to catch up but nasri was a fucken disgrace yesterday bartons got previous but it should not be an excuse on the football pitch for players to do what they want to the guy, once that becomes acceptable the lines will blur and someone who makes a late tackle or whatever will become a viable target etc... nasri is my new hate figure, the little fuck
  21. I've always said we need those 3+ quality players we still need. If they don't appear then serious questions need to be asked, especially given the short-term loan ST holders such as myself and NE5 have supplied, yes. i'm off but my prediction is 2 players the likes of atouba & this uruguayan who's cropped up plus 2 "big" signings, i.e. 10 or 15m signings that'd do me for year one of an imaginary 3 year plan i guess I'd be delighted with that. given how good jonas & colo have looked so would i actually...if it happens then you could actually see tangible signs that point to the direction we're headed if they don't then the signs are equally as clear to me
