  1. don't think he will personally or he'd probably have already done it wouldn't he? had he been expecting a heap of quality, expensive signings by now and they'd not come in i wouldn't see why he'd sit the window out then jack it in leaving someone else in the lurch seems content enough to me
  2. before james or someone starts i'm not complaining or suggesting keegan should walk or anything, was a genuine question 'cause i wasn't able to see the interviews and stuff when he came back Opt Nut - is him saying there is no brochure to be construed as sort of he has a blank canvas to do what he wants or more he didn't know what to expect?
  3. anyone remember his quotes when he came back in january? anything in them to lead you to think he'd been promised significant funds to spend? i see that as the crucial element here - if he's been promised something and they don't deliver i could see him walking, if he was made aware it would be a slow, budget balancing rebuilding process then i don't think he'd jump, why would he? its as Tron says above: if he was promised the chance to shoot for the title but is now being forced to aim for uefa cup places at best then i reckon he'll be perfectly justified
  4. A forum is about opinions, you are perfectly entitled to offer your opinions, and I'm perfectly entitled to disagree with anything anyone says. I am not on NE5's side, your side, Baggio's side, Dave's side anyones side. I am on the side of my own beliefs. which are? all i ever really see from you are snipes Generally in disagreement with your own, hence your perceptions. I believe that we shouldn't really be shouting from the rooftops about anything until we see how well we fare in the Premier League next season. That will be the real judge of the decisions made at boardroom and management level. now i get it; you have no opinions or expectations then? basically, that's what you're saying right? how long does that last then, out of interest? this is one year and three transfer windows for MA let me remind you you probably can't answer that though, it'll be an opinion by the way who's shouting anything from the rooftops? it's a newcastle specific internet forum, if i was on sky news you might have a point

  6. oh hold on you're back are you? am i moving goalposts again? Yes, considering you spent the whole of last summer complaining about the club signing older players rather than investing in youth ala Sir Bobby. eh? you're brilliant, i could talk to you all day man i think guthrie might turn out to be an excellent buy, and who knows milner might make a good CM and spiderman a great winger for the club doesn't change the fact that expectations will have changed does it? are you telling me that after we were bought out by a billionaire and he had a year to settle in then throw the modric bid in you expected we might be facing the proposition of milner as a CM? factor in increased TV money to that as well firmly believe in youth as i did last year too when i was "whinging" - spurs seem to as well but they don't seem to mind paying for it do they?
  7. Certainly wasn't having a dig at you, was just cruising through a few of the threads and everything seemed to be going down the same path. Looking at the above line, I think you actually agree with me. But fair play, totally understand it's your view and it's a message forum designed for people voicing opinion...You add a lot more value than me as i say a collective amount of fuck all 90% of the time - would rather be reading your views than none at all, just be nice to have a topic without some of the backbiting. We do all want the same thing after all! cheers man, no sweat look at the posts in and around yours and you'll see why i reacted like i did - it's a football discussion forum but half the people can't read posts properly and the other half kick off if you offer an opinion on anything perhaps i should just float along in a vacuum while mike ashley pockets ST money & 2 years worth of TV money (at the highest its ever been) without investing it in the squad but i'm not going to
  8. oh hold on you're back are you? am i moving goalposts again?
  9. i'm not in either camp as it happens - i will be in MA's camp when he shows something as the owner of this club as for the old board did some good stuff and some bad, i have total and utter distaste for FS the man though anyways fuck it, apparently not allowed to offer any opinion on here without being labelled - i formulate opinions based on events and circumstances as they happen rather than have a preconceived idea of what i'm gonna think in this instance i said what i thought; we've gone from modric to milner haven't we? or modric to guthrie? point stands until the owner spends some money, then it won't stand and i'll shut the fuck up Save it for one of the many 30 page threads on the board so people can avoid it if they want to. oh jesus man i did jokingly talk about ruining the thread in my post, and i never fucking mentioned the old board did i? until someone else did anyways if we start the new season with milner or guthrie in our first team and people accept that (from the viewpoint of the modric bid) then it's a lowering of expectations isn't? that can be answered without discussing the old board you know? the anti-NE5 crowd are just as bad as he is at turning an argument imo

  11. aye right enough mouthpiece
  12. Yup. Like our best run last season happened when Milner was out of the team. Bit harsh, think it was more the coinciding of Smith not being in the team... Think he's worth a go there, more than anything because i can't really see a great deal of attacking midfield options on our current budget. Be interesting to see if Keegan pulls someone out the bag though... tried ruining this thread just before but my PC crashed when i tried to post, anyway the shortened version is: 18m "bid" for luca modric to start the summer, 2 months later we're comverting James Milner to a CM talk about lowering expectations
  13. nobody really thought owen could pass much, til it turns out he could last season...see no reason why milner couldn't flourish in that position if he plays a simple game granted he's unlikely to turn into fabregas
  14. said for ages he should move into the middle, as bobyule says he can beat men on both sides, has two good feet and a good shot he's got the engine as well, i'd worry about the physical side a bit but if someone was in there to protect him i think it could very well be an astute move by KK
  15. this has been like watching a group of people that only speak english as a second languague (badly) discuss the merits of capital punishment or abortion in english
  16. we've got one, he's called alan smith...mobile as they come and will run all day he's just shit
  17. given how much expectations for this transfer window maybe have (certainly should have) changed due to our apparent lack of activity & unwillingness to splash the cash does anyone actually HAVE any realisitic summer targets then? realistic for us now i mean? lets take it as a given we need fullback cover, a good CB, a good DM, a good creative playmaker and probably a striker personally i'm a bit lost when trying to answer my own question here...it's almost like we need to draw a line under the modrics/arshavins/turans/decos (remember him from earlier?!) of this world and think of another 4-5 "danny guthrie's"! this isn't a dig at the owner or anything, genuine question 'cause when the summer started with the modric bid it seemed to me would be operating at a certain standard of player but now i have no idea where that standard might be!
  18. you reckon dabo said that to him as well? and didn't he stub the cigar out in the trainees eye well before his brother did what he did? not sure that'll stand up to scrutiny really
  19. would agree with that, if KK can get him to simply beat his man or make a yard of space (which he has more than enough ability to do) and whip a cross in first time then he'll look a different player on the wider question from Dave i think martins will be crucial to the team next season, KK will have obviously noticed (more than likely made him do it) how much damage his pace was doing in stretching teams...if we get a more dynamic midfield that can catch up with him we'll be laughing, something i reckon could be key to us next season - we need a playmaker obviously but i really think we need someone who can get up and down with pace, barton can do it but he looks like he's wearing lead boots he's so slow smith and duff are the two players you'd have to say are a total and utter disgrace and i just can't see KK being able to improve them THAT much, that's why i want shot of them...everyone else that played regularly under him last season improved to some degree anyway so with renewed confidence i'd expect it to continue across the board
  20. Anyone care to explain ppl r saying it's like when they signed tuncay difference is, tuncay was in the turkish league and jonas was in the spanish big difference between them and tuncay didn't do that bad for boro tbh i actually said both of them were 'boro-esque - just meant they're nothing signings really, bought on the cheap...might turn out OK but in no way are gonna be world beaters as much as we'd like them to be; the similarities with players 'boro have signed in the past are there if you want to see them, i suppose i'm talking about level of player when i say 'boro-esque they'll both probably be decent players, maybe even good players for us if you read about spiderpig playing against brazil recently he was brought in to cover for his fullback due to his hard working attitude on the pitch, his goals/assists record testifies to the type of winger he is west ham are paying 5m for behrami by the way, wonder which of the two excites their respective fans the most next season?
  21. our net spend under MR SHEPHERD NE5 for the 5 seasons under robson was 10 million and that was after qualifying for the champs league and getting to the uefa cup semi finals, not much more than ashley who mentioned shepherd? not me, don't care about him he's the past mate...the present and future are important we want the club to progress, right? we have already went down the route of spending big wages on has-been players and where did that get us?? almost relegated we need another route, and the route the board is taking if done right, will benefit the club for the next 5-10 years i agree we need players, but we don't need a 28 year old who just got his side relegated, by offering him 50-60k a week there's still 4 weeks to get players and still don't see other clubs bringing in plenty of players i'll try again - go back and read the little exchange between johhnypd and myself (top of page 2 ) and try and see that what we're discussing is in no way applicable to what you're talking about here...you're reading something that isn't there i agree that instead of getting chelsea reserve players coming here for their last pay day we need to get the best players from the rest of the teams thats what keegan did last time, so if we don't sign the superstars some ppl on here want, then that can work we were talking about the likes of muntari BEFORE they move to bigger clubs but would cost a decent fee still (7-10m say)..hardly superstars anyways we appear to agree fundamentally i'd suggest

  23. Dave man. What I find irritating at the moment is you can only have a wider opinion about things these days if something is "proven" to be true. What the guys sics is saying stands up outside of an individual example with or without evidence we bid for the guy. Why not try debating what he's actually talking about? I remember before the window opened myself and TT (I think) were listing the positives of making an early impact signing and were just countered with "the windows not even open yet man" or "only 2 clubs have signed anyone". That is not the nature of argument and discussion. Some of us at the moment have a belief that when it comes to negotiations the club are either inept, have no understanding of the game, or are simply unwilling to "go the extra mile" to complete a deal for the QUALITY players we all know we need. I'm not basing that on Aimar. I'm basing that on Spiderman and Guthrie. And Modric and Woodgate. really you are basing it on aimar alone as in both the latter cases it's reported that we offered more than the places they ended up. sorry like but if you can't read i'm not going to teach you, don't have time same for neesy111 i don't want to learn to read if it only leads to gossip,hearsay..................or you. aw, you'll hurt my feelings if you're not careful
