I think the truth is, although Hughton has done a good job, he isn't really the type that will make someone like Elano succeed. The best thing he can do IMO is focus on defence, get some athletic players and try to make us a counterattacking team. People won't like it, but we have to play ugly for a season or two.

I'm not blaming Beye for leaving, like i said i have nothing against him, but signing players that left last season would just leave a sour taste in my mouth. It's not very progressive, and although he was a decent player i think it would be quite a negative move overall. What will the players that stayed and worked hard towards promotion think about someone that was part of the relegation side just walking back in as if nothing had happened. I wouldn't be very impressed.

Barton never plays, it's all very well saying "if fit", he never actually is, we can't include him in any plans for the first team.

Barton, are we really still flogging that dead horse? We'll more than likely have f*** all to spend, Barton's a much better option than spunking 3/4m of much needed money on someone on the way down like some of the names already mentioned. Cleverley is a shout as he'll be free. Barton is always injured, is paid way too much, and is a shockingly average player. Not for Man City he wasn't. I think the last 3 seasons are more relevant. Alright, not for us under Keegan he wasn't. Last season was obviously a complete write off because of injury. A tiny bit of form at the end of that season isn't enough. Owen and Viduka were good during that period aswell, but i wouldn't want them here next season. Viduka's finished, and Owen had all season to show he could be valuable to us, and failed. I would argue that Barton is finished, atleast at this club, his injury record is enough for me to want him to leave. I've never particularly rated him as a player either, i just see him as another clogger, his passing has always been shockingly overrated, i was warned about it by a City fan before he came and so far he has been 100% correct. He certainly can't be described as creative.

I have nothing against Beye, but I don't want anyone who jumped ship last season to come back. That's not how I roll.

I'd rather have an Arbeloa than a Glen Johnson. First and foremost they have to be able to defend, if they can do both then great, there aren't too many of those about though.

What a pleasant little surprise

Another one - Our most overrated player of the last decade......

It's between Owen and Joey Barton, I'm still not sure why people thought Barton was an improvement on Parker. -
I see we're getting to that point where we forget how poor he is again. He's a back up player in my eyes, infact i would consider loaning him out just to save a bit of money. Love how your exaggerating my point. Reward yourself with a biscuit, a rich tea perhaps. I think Barton has a lot of ability and is CAPABLE of taking the teams play up a notch. Not saying it's a nailed on fact to happen. Right now if Guthrie and Smith pick up a knock then it's back to Butt each week. I think Barton offers far more than Butt and would prefer him to be fit soon to be able to be available to play. Where have i exaggerated anything?

It is with the midfield we had. He was a rubbish captain yeah, dont see why thats relevant Nobody can say he wasn't given chances towards the end of last season, he fluffed them, just like he's been fluffing chance after chance this season. The "he will score goals" theory is well off the mark right now.

I disliked him long before the relegation season, i always felt the club was just a pay cheque to him and that he would see out his contract and fuck off. I wanted him sold a long time ago. I never high expectations of him either, you can't expect a poacher to lead a frontline.
-
And this is my point. Of course at the moment he shouldn't be going, but say he was scoring regularly in the next 20-25 games. Surely he must be at the very least a serious consideration? Surely this goes for most players? It does. I'm just get the feeling that with what's gone on with Owen at Newcastle, people would refuse to see him there regardless. Well put it this way, on a personal level i won't support a team that contains him. So i really hope he continues his form and doesn't go.

I fucking hope not, but then if Heskey can go then the door must be open for a wide range of donkeys.
-
I really don't care if he told some fans to fuck off, it's none of my business, it's between them and him. These randoms have abolutely nothing to do with me so why should i take it as a personal insult?

The way Parker was treated was ridiculous, i thought so at the time. Alot of people seem to think the grass is always greener on the other side.

I voted no It's hard being right all the time.
