I would only deal with premier league clubs under special circumstances, for example Maddison with his contract running out. Trying to get players that the other side want to keep and don’t need to sell is a good way of wasting time, energy, and money.

McTominay will probably be a fine (but overpriced) signing for a bottom half team that expects less possession, like Palace for example. If you’re looking to dominate the ball and put together quick passing moves he’s nowhere near what you should be looking for. He’ll also probably get a few red cards a season at a different club.

I’m not doubting Howe’s ability to pick a player, I’m doubting the credibility of rumour that Howe wants him, because it would make no sense to me.

Could we get McTominay without CL football? I imagine we would face stiff competition from the rest of the big 6 and the big boys on the continent.

I don’t think either are very good technically btw, but Almiron can occasionally strike a ball properly. Gordon doesn’t look like a player that will ever produce many goals or assists IMO.

I think pace is the only attribute where he’s above average. Technically I think he is probably inferior to Almiron, and of course Almiron has pace as well. I’m still struggling to be optimistic about him. I wouldn’t mind if he wasn’t signed for purple money.

I think he’ll get a big club in Spain or Italy no problem.
