Go on then...Rate the January 2026 Transfer Window
Newcastle Fan replied to Shays Given Tim Flowers's topic in Football
Best job in the world being our director of football. -
In the 4 seasons since they've taken over we avoided relegation, keeping in mind we didn't win a single game that season with Steve fucking Bruce in charge until December if i am not mistaken, then right away got to a domestic cup final + champions league qualification struggled a bit the season after but then won our first major trophy and got another champions league qualification which is more than anyone hoped for. in the champions league this year we were a goal away from being in the top 8 and are very likely to get through to the last 16, if that's not progress and being there with the top teams then what is? As far as transfers i understand the situation they were in, Howe refused to work with DOF's and wanted his own way, he also backed himself with the cup win and champions league qualification so in doing so he put them in a tough spot, refuse to give him his way and the team under-preforms and it be very easy for him to come out and say they didn't give me what i want, so they opted to give him the benefit of the doubt and rightly so based on his success last season and he fucked it up in the window (so far at least, season is not over yet). But overall seeing where we were before they came and where we are now, it does feel closer than ever to being there with the very best. they might have some tough choices to make by the end of this season if we don't achieve any of our goals but this is not worth talking about when the season is still on and nothing is settled yet.

I think they were right and are serious in setting up the expectation to be one of the top teams in the world, and we are already almost there. after the success of last year and the fact that Howe wanted his own way with transfers and didn't get along with the director(s) of football we've hired. they did the only thing they can do which is give him his way and back him with the funds needed to take the team forward. The fact that him and his team decided to spend it on players that haven't evolved the team isn't really to do with PIF, how many teams have two strikers worth 115m between them with two 50m wingers on either side? There are somethings that can be done better such as further commercial and facility expansions etc but as fans all that matters in what happens on the field to be honest.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

I would've had zero problems if he had started today instead of Gordon, honestly at this point he should be looking to leave for his own good. -
Really annoyed me today, he just dosn't influence games at any level. Even with Willock you feel like he's trying to do something for the team but Ramsey is so passive.
-
What can they do if the manager is refusing to work with a director of football?
-
Absloute fucking mess, what a way to ruin the good feeling from wednsday.
-
Too early to say he will or won't work but he's got a lot to work on.

Did we hire a full time person for this shit? -
I was very encourged by wednsday but fuck me today was a mess, why the fuck did he decide the best way to play Liverpool at Anfield is to turn it into a basket ball match?

First time i've Ramsey this half

Three strikers and we go Gordon upfront. -
Trafford felt like the perfect replacement tbh. But seeing how awful Ramsdale is we are very lucky to have Pope.
-
A number 10 who can't shoot or assist won't really do us any good.
-
He could've added to his moments this season but wasn't his night.
-
Superb tonight, looked so calm and in control all night.
-
Best game for us. Grown into it and could've had his moment later on.
-
Superb tonight, can't fault him at all. More of this please.
-
Energy is fantastic but his decison making was quite bad in the final third.
-
Needs a lot more, got better in the second half but looked weak and lost the ball a lot. Had a good chance to put Elanga through but his pass was poor.

To put a performance like this away to the world champions playing out of position, what a fucking kid. -
Excellent tonight, reminded me of the old Joe Willock.
-
What a fucking leader, great to have him back.
